Book High Speed Pulse Techniques

Download or read book High Speed Pulse Techniques written by J. A. Coekin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-Speed Pulse Techniques covers the many aspects of technique in digital electronics and encompass some of the more fundamental factors that apply to all digital systems. The book describes the nature of pulse signals and their deliberate or inadvertent processing in networks, transmission lines and transformers, and then examines the characteristics and transient performance of semiconductor devices and integrated circuits. Some of the problems associated with the assembly of these into viable systems operating at ultra high speed are also looked at. The book examines the transients and waveshaping in linear circuits; the steady-state and transient characteristics of the diode switch; and the two most useful diode waveshaping functions, clipping and clamping circuits. The characteristics of distributed-parameter transmission lines with and without losses and their implications in digital systems are also considered. The book then tackles transformer pulse response; bipolar and unipolar transistor transient response; and the characteristics of subnanosecond switching diodes and of high-speed logic. The text describes the implementation of high-speed systems as well. Students and practicing electronics and computer systems engineers will find the book useful.

Book J C Martin on Pulsed Power

Download or read book J C Martin on Pulsed Power written by T.H. Martin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 541 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As indicated in the Foreword to this series on Advances in Pulsed Power Technologies, the pioneering roots of modern pulsed power as related by J.C. "Charlie" Martin and his co-workers of the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment, Aldermaston, Reading UK is an important if not essential record of the experiential history of the major developer of pulsed power advances during the post-World War II period. It finds great utility as an instructive accounting of the trials, tribulations and, finally, an almost chronological walk through their thoughts as they diligently and happily travel the yellow brick road to success. It is recounted in the inimitable style of "Charlie" Martin as only he can relate, with some insightful perspectives by Mike Good man, a constant companion, and collaborator who shares his unique view of "Charlie" and the Aldermaston Group. This collection of selected articles is unique, for in large part, the documentation of their struggle and final triumph have not been formerly published in any archival manner. One reason, we suspect, was the defense-related application and significance of their work, compounded by the constant need for progress which did not allow for the time consuming preparation of formal submission to the literature. This also explains the "urgent" and sometimes terse manner of their writings. Yet the material remains remarkably current because we are dealing, in large measure, with pulsed systems less sensitive to those factors involved in slower pulsed scenarios.

Book Catheter Ablation of Cardiac Arrhythmias

Download or read book Catheter Ablation of Cardiac Arrhythmias written by Melvin Scheinman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of catheter ablation has grown In a rather helter-skelter fashion. Ablative techniques were applied in patients before basic bioelectric and cellular electrophysiologic effects were fully defined. Since the introduction of this technique into clinical medicine in 1982, happily, a wealth of basic information has become available, and it was thought prudent to summarize existing data in the form of a text. The purpose of this text is to provide for a concise summary of both the basic and clinical experiences to date. It was simply not possible to include chapters from many workers who have made outstanding contributions in this area. For this, I offer my profound apolo gies. I do wish, however, to acknowledge the outstanding work of Drs. Bharati and Lev who provided us with a sound understanding of the histolo gic effects of various energy delivery systems. Their seminal observations allowed us to bring this technique to clinical fruition.

Book Newtonian Electrodynamics

Download or read book Newtonian Electrodynamics written by Peter Graneau and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book deals with the resurgence of nineteenth century electromagnetism in physics and electrical engineering. It describes a series of important experiments, and new technologies based on these experiments, which cannot be explained by and analyzed with the modern relativistic electrodynamics of the twentieth century. The Newtonian electrodynamics of Coulomb, Ampere, Neumann, and Kirchhoff, which was current from 1750 to 1900, is fully reviewed and greatly extended to deal with contemporary research on exploding wires, railguns and other electromagnetic accelerators, jet propulsion in liquid metals, arc plasma explosions, capillary fusion, and lightning phenomena. Much of the book is based on the atomic definition of the Amperian current element. Finite element techniques for solving many electrodynamic problems are described.
