Book Radar Imaging for Maritime Observation

Download or read book Radar Imaging for Maritime Observation written by Fabrizio Berizzi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-24 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the experiences of the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa and the Radar and Surveillance System (RaSS) national laboratory of the National Interuniversity Consortium of Telecommunication (CNIT), Radar Imaging for Maritime Observation presents the most recent results in radar imaging for maritime observation. The book explores both the areas of sea surface remote sensing and maritime surveillance providing key theoretical concepts of SAR and ISAR imaging and more advanced and ad-hoc techniques for applications in maritime scenarios. The book is organized in two sections. The first section discusses the fundamentals of standard SAR/ISAR processing and novel imaging techniques, such as Bistatic, Passive, and, 3D Interferometric ISAR. The second section focuses on the applications and results obtained by processing real data from maritime observations like SAR image processing for oil spill, detection in SAR images and fractal analysis. Useful to both beginners and experts in maritime observation, this book provides several examples of (mainly space-borne) radar imaging of maritime targets. Nevertheless, the same principles and techniques apply to the case of manned or unmanned carriers and to ground and air moving targets.

Book High Range Resolution Radar Cross section Profiles

Download or read book High Range Resolution Radar Cross section Profiles written by Stephen D. Elton and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The following provides a brief and informal account of an analysis technique used by the Electronic Warfare Division (EWD) to produce high range resolution radar cross-section (RCS) profiles of maritime targets. We begin by giving a simple theoretical discussion of the basic principle behind the technique employed, and then move on to describe the computer program used to carry out the first stage of the RCS analysis and make comparison with other work. High range resolution RCS profiles, were derived for a maritime target with the use of a coherent radar system developed by the Microwave Radar Division (MRD). Synthetic range profiles were obtained for the ship by exploiting the reciprocal relationship that exists, in the context of the present work, between range and frequency and by employing a fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm to evaluate the inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT). The technique is referred to in the literature as stepped frequency imaging. Keywords: Active and passive radar detection and equipment, Radar cross section, Australia, EWD, RCS. (JG).

Book Polarimetric SAR Imaging

Download or read book Polarimetric SAR Imaging written by Yoshio Yamaguchi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-08-18 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radar polarimetry has been highly sought after for its use in the precise monitoring of Earth's surface. Polarimetric SAR Imaging explains the basic concepts of polarimetry and its diverse applications including: deforestation, tree classification, landslide detection, tsunamis, volcano eruptions and ash distribution, snow accumulation, rice field monitoring, urban area exploration, ship detection, among other applications. The explanations use actual data sets taken by Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS and ALOS2). With the increasing problems presented by climate change, there is a growing need for detailed earth observation using polarimetric data. As the treatment of vector nature of radar waves is complex, there is a gap between the theory and the application. Polarimetric SAR Imaging: Theory and Applications addresses and fills this gap. Features: Provides cutting-edge polarimetric applications for earth observation with full color images. Includes detailed descriptions of theory, equations, expansions, and flowcharts, and numerous real examples. Explains concepts, data analysis, and applications in simple and clear language aimed at an intuitive comprehension. Provides specific and unique examples of PolSAR images derived from actual space and airborne systems (ALOS/ALOS2, PiSAR-x/L) Covers the wide range of the radar polarimetry, especially the decomposition of the polarimetry data, an original method developed by the author using the Japanese polarimetric SAR data Illustrated in full color using images generated by polarimetric techniques, this book is easy to understand and use for both student and expert, and is an excellent resource both in the classroom and in the field.

Book Signal and Image Processing in Navigational Systems

Download or read book Signal and Image Processing in Navigational Systems written by Vyacheslav Tuzlukov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classical and modern theories have given us a degree of noise immunity by defining the sufficient statistic of the mean of the likelihood function. The generalized theory moves beyond these limitations to determine the jointly sufficient statistics of the mean and variance of the likelihood function. Signal and Image Processing in Navigational Systems introduces us to the generalized approach, and then delves rigorously into the theory and practical applications of this approach. This volume represents the most in-depth discussion of the generalized approach to date, providing many examples and computer models to demonstrate how this approach raises the upper limits of noise immunity for navigation systems, leading to better detection performances. This book is vital for signal and image processing experts, radar, communications, acoustics, and navigational systems designers, as well as professionals in the fields of statistical pattern recognition, biomedicine, astronomy, and robotics who wish to extend the boundaries of noise immunity and improve qualitative performance of their systems.

Book Adaptive Antennas and Receivers

Download or read book Adaptive Antennas and Receivers written by Melvin M. Weiner and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-11-04 with total page 1246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our modern age of remote sensing, wireless communication, and the nearly endless list of other antenna-based applications, complex problems require increasingly sophisticated solutions. Conventional antenna systems are no longer suited to high-noise or low-signal applications such as intrusion detection. Detailing highly effective approaches to non-Gaussian weak signal detection, Adaptive Antennas and Receivers provides an authoritative introduction to state-of-the-art research on the modeling, testing, and application of these technologies. Edited by innovative researcher and eminent expert Melvin M. Weiner, this book is the first to integrate three advanced approaches to non-Gaussian weak signal detection into a single reference: homogeneous partitioning of the surveillance volume, adaptive antennas, and adaptive receivers. Comprising self-contained chapters contributed by renowned experts such as Donald D. Weiner and Ronald Fante, each chapter explores the techniques, theoretical basis, and applications of the approach under discussion. The book considers signal detection in the presence of external noise such as clutter residue, interference, atmospheric noise, jammers, external thermal noise, in vivo surrounding tissue, and camouflaging material, making it ideal for use across a broad spectrum of applications. This authoritative reference supplies more than 750 figures and tables, 1460 equations, and 640 references. Adaptive Antennas and Receivers is an ideal resource for improving performance in surveillance, communication, navigation, artificial intelligence, computer tomography, neuroscience, and intrusion detection systems, to name only a few.
