Book High resolution FTIR Spectra Analysis of Sulfur Dioxide Isotopologues

Download or read book High resolution FTIR Spectra Analysis of Sulfur Dioxide Isotopologues written by Valeriya Zamotaeva and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis we considered the spectral properties of the sulfur dioxide. The experimental FTIR spectra of numerous sulfur dioxide isotopologues, 32S16O2, 34S16O2, 32S18O2 and 32S16O18O, were first recorded in the regions of fundamental, «hot», combination and overtone bands. The wide variability of the experimental conditions gave possibility to observe and identify for the first time transitions be¬ longing to the following of ro-vibrational bands: 3v2, 3v2 - v2, 2v2 - v2 bands of 32S16O2; 2v2 - v2 band of 34S16O2; v1 + v2, v2 + v3, v1 + v3, 2v1, 2v3 bands of 32S18O2; v1, v3, 2v1, v1 + v3, 2v3 bands of 32S16O18O. The inverse spectroscopic problems were solved for the studied states with the «rms»-deviation comparable to the experimental uncertainty of the spectral line position. As a result of the analysis about 38 000 ro-vibrational transitions belonging to 17 excited vibrational states were identified for the first time. The obtained highly accurate data on all sulfur dioxide isotopologues were used to correct the parameters of the IPF.

Book Far infrared Spectroscopy of Dimethyl Ether and its 13C enriched Isotopologues and First Spectroscopic Characterization of Tert butyl dibromophosphane

Download or read book Far infrared Spectroscopy of Dimethyl Ether and its 13C enriched Isotopologues and First Spectroscopic Characterization of Tert butyl dibromophosphane written by Kutzer, Pia and published by kassel university press GmbH. This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study two different molecules, dimethylether and its ¹³C substituted isotopologues as well as tert-butyl-dibromophosphane have been spectroscopically investigated by the means of Fourier-Transform infrared spectroscopy. The spectra of dimethyl-ether isotopologues were recorded at the AILES beamline at the SOLEIL Synchrotron facility in a spectral range between 70 cm-1 and 500 cm-1. Despite of recent laboratory studies and its increasing relevance to astrophysics, accurate high resolution spectra of the vibrational excited ?7 band of all isotopologues have been missing up to now. Tert-butyl-dibromophosphane is a complex molecule and the main abundant isotopologue tBuP79 Br81Br is chiral. All associated vibrational modes could be calculated. A first broadband spectrum of tert-butyl-dibromophosphane between 80cm-1 and 3100 cm-1 could be obtained by a combination of experiments at the Kassel university laboratories and at SOLEIL in France.

Book High Resolution Continuum Source AAS

Download or read book High Resolution Continuum Source AAS written by Bernhard Welz and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-03-06 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-resolution continuum source atomic absorption spectrometry (HR-CS AAS) is the most revolutionary innovation since the introduction of AAS in 1955. Here, the authors provide the first complete and comprehensive discussion of HR-CS AAS and its application to the analysis of a variety of difficult matrices. Published just in time with the first commercial instrument available for this new technique, the book is a must for all those who want to know more about HR-CS AAS, and in particular for all future users. The advantages of the new technique over conventional line-source AAS are clearly demonstrated using practical examples and numerous figures, many in full color. HR-CS AAS is overcoming essentially all the remaining limitations of established AAS, particularly the notorious problem of accurate background measurement and correction. Using a continuum radiation source and a CCD array detector makes the spectral environment visible to several tenths of a nanometer on both sides of the analytical line, tremendously facilitating method development and elimination of interferences. Conceived as a supplement to the standard reference work on AAS by B. Welz and M. Sperling, this book does not repeat such fundamentals as the principles of atomizers or atomization mechanisms. Instead, it is strictly focused on new and additional information required to profit from HR-CS AAS. It presents characteristic concentration for flame atomization and characteristic mass data for electrothermal atomization for all elements, as well as listing numerous secondary lines of lower sensitivity for the determination of higher analyte concentrations. The highly resolved molecular absorption spectra of nitric, sulfuric and phosphoric acids, observed in an air-acetylene flame, which are depicted together with the atomic lines of all elements, make it possible to predict potential spectral interferences.

Book Examination of the Ammonia sulfur Dioxide water System Using FTIR Spectroscopy

Download or read book Examination of the Ammonia sulfur Dioxide water System Using FTIR Spectroscopy written by Laura S. Spriggs and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sulfur dioxide (SO 2) and nitrogen oxides (NO x) are two of six EPA criteria pollutants and are found in the exhaust gases of most fossil-fuel burning power plants. With increasing strides to reduce emissions, it is necessary to explore more efficient and cost-effective methods of control than currently available. Studies in our laboratories found that the use of ammonia injection in wet electrostatic precipitators aids in the removal of SO 2 and NO x by forming an adsorbent ammonia-sulfur dioxide aerosol to which the gases attach. There is, however, inconsistent kinetic and thermodynamic equilibrium data for these reactions. This project involves the examination of the anhydrous NH 3 -SO 2 reactions. FTIR spectroscopy was used to measure gas phase concentrations. The composition of the reaction products and the equilibrium constants at room temperature were determined using an equilibrium analysis. Additional consideration was made for the analysis of reactions involving water addition and temperature variance.

Book High Resolution Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy for the Qualitative Analysis of Explosive Precursors in the Vapour Phase

Download or read book High Resolution Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy for the Qualitative Analysis of Explosive Precursors in the Vapour Phase written by Felicity Carlysle and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) has applications in many areas of forensic science. The ability to produce information rich spectra is of particular use for the characterisation and discrimination of materials. High resolution FTIR can produce even more detailed spectra and therefore improved characterisation and discrimination. However, the production of information rich spectra requires suitable statistical tools for analysis, with multivariate analysis often used. The mid infrared region contains the 'fingerprint region' which is used for the detection and identification of many different materials, and is therefore an area of investigation in the field of explosives detection. This research aimed to utilise high resolution mid infrared FTIR for the characterisation of explosive precursors in the vapour phase. Detailed examination of the spectra produced would provide information on spectral regions that could be applied as targets for detection systems, for example those based upon Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs). By building up detailed knowledge of the spectra produced by different materials this research aimed to determine the most suitable spectral regions for the identification of explosive precursors. In addition, this research aimed to investigate whether it was possible to use high resolution FTIR to discriminate between laboratory grade materials and their shop bought counterparts containing additives and impurities. Acetone, alcohols and hydrogen peroxide were analysed in this work. The research also aimed to determine whether brand discrimination was still viable following concentration of two hydrogen peroxide containing brands. The ability to identify that a material had been concentrated but tie it back to its brand would be of great significance for intelligence gathering. The findings of this research demonstrate that high resolution FTIR can successfully be applied to the characterisation of explosive precursors and, in combination with chemometric techniques, discriminate between different precursor brands even following concentration of the precursor material.
