Book High Pressure Process Technology Fundamentals and Applications

Download or read book High Pressure Process Technology Fundamentals and Applications written by A. Bertucco and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-10-15 with total page 684 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clear evidence of increasing demands in the processing industry prompted the editors and authors to publish a new book about High Pressure Process Technology: Fundamentals and Applications. This book presents the latest knowledge regarding the high pressure processing aspects combined with that about the modeling, the design and the operation of safe and reliable high pressure plants and equipment. This treatment and selection of the subjects is stimulating and unique. Consisting of nine chapters, each subdivided into several sections, the book addresses the high pressure aspects, providing well selected correlated information connected with a comprehensive overview together with a large number of references. The main body of the first eight chapters refers to subjects like high pressure in general, the thermodynamics and kinetics of the fluids involved, the design of high pressure equipment, the modeling and design of reactors, separation and fractionation units, the safety aspects, the control and economics. In the extended last chapter, examples of promising high pressure applications are explained, such as chemical and enzymatic reactions in supercritical solvents, hydrogenation under supercritical conditions, supercritical water oxidation, polymerization with metallocene catalysts, supercritical extraction, fractionation and precipitation, supercritical pharma processing, ultra-high pressure sterilization and supercritical dry-cleaning.

Book High Pressure Fluid Technology for Green Food Processing

Download or read book High Pressure Fluid Technology for Green Food Processing written by Tiziana Fornari and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-10-31 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to present the fundamentals of high pressure technologies from the perspective of mass transfer phenomena and thermodynamic considerations. Novel food applications are exposed and their relation to chemical analysis, extraction, reaction and particle formation processes are outlined. The chapters are written by a diverse group of scientists with expertise in chemistry, food processes, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering and chemical engineering thermodynamics, and biotechnology. The mission of green food engineering is to promote innovative technologies that reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous materials (solvents, reagents) in the design and operation of food related processes, with the view to improve food safety and quality. Several efficient, environmentally friendly and benign technologies based on the use of high pressure and green solvents have demonstrated to be sustainable alternatives to traditional processes in the food industry. Although hundreds of new ideas are being published in the open literature, reliable engineering tools to simulate and design those processes are still under development. High Pressure Fluid Technology for Green Food Processing presents in-depth analyses and outlines the ways towards their maturity. Book High Pressure Science and Technology

Download or read book High Pressure Science and Technology written by K. D. Timmerhaus and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-04-15 with total page 2078 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High pressure has become a basic variable in many areas of science and engineering. It extends from disciplines of geophysics and astrophysics through chemistry and physics to those of modern biology, electrical and chemical engineering. This breadth has been recognized for some time, but it was not until the early 1960's that an international group of scientists and engineers established the Association Internationale for Research and Advancement of High Pressure Science and Technology (AIRAPT) for bringing these various aspects of high pressure together at an international conference. The First AIRAPT International High Pressure Conference was held in 1965 in France and has been convened at approximately two to three year intervals since that time. The past four AIRAPT International High Pressure Conferences have been held in Germany, Scotland, Japan and the U.S.S.R. Since the first meeting of this kind, our understanding of high pressure behavior of physical systems has increased greatly.

Book Handbook of Techniques in High Pressure Research and Engineering

Download or read book Handbook of Techniques in High Pressure Research and Engineering written by Daniel S. Tsiklis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The extent of experimentation with high pressures has become so great that it appears timely to publish a book in this field. The author, D. S. Tsiklis, is already known to persons working with high pressures as a sound reviewer and compiler, as from Bridgman's mention of him in "Physics of High Pressures," Bell & Co. , 1949. The present book offers a wide scope of comparison of equipment and procedures used with high pres sures. The original application of topics was to physics and chemistry, but it can be seen that the text material is equally useful in earth sciences and engineering. Some of the fields to which the subject matter is being ap plied are: Synthesis of new phases under high pressures Chemical reactions under high pressures Measurements of physical properties ofmaterials under high pressures Rock mechanics Metalworking under high pressures Mechanical design associated with high pressures It is believed that this book will serve as a sound general basis for experimentation with high pressure for many years. The references in the book are up to date (1965) and large in num ber. The illustrations can serve as assembly drawings from which detail drawings can be made; for this reason, the figures in the English edition are reproduced to larger scale than in the original Russian.
