Book Reconfigurable Distributed Control

Download or read book Reconfigurable Distributed Control written by Fabián García-Nocetti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-07 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Distributed control systems offer the advantages of control local to the process being controlled while retaining the ease of control at a single centralised location. Typically such a system has involved a great deal of hard-wiring and has been of most use only in situations where flexibility is not essential. Now, however, distributed control systems are being applied more often in process control, autonomous systems and safety-critical systems where control needs to change to cope with fault appearance or other (possibly intentional) process disturbance. Reconfigurable Distributed Control helps meet the challenge of applying distributed control to dynamical systems, integrating different approaches to the problem. It presents an holistic view based on the appropriate use of stochastic, formal and robust control paradigms. The use of smart peripheral elements means that the degree of effort required for the reconfiguration of a networked control system can now be reduced, particular emphasis being placed on the reduction of time delays. Case studies are employed to demonstrate the real applications of the theory. While being of most interest to academic researchers and graduate students grappling with the problem of making distributed control systems more responsive to changes in process and plant, Reconfigurable Distributed Control will also be informative for readers with a background in more general distributed computing.

Book Component Based Software Engineering

Download or read book Component Based Software Engineering written by Grace A. Lewis and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-06-18 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2009 Symposium on Component-Based Software Engineering (CBSE 2009) was the 12thin a series ofsuccessful eventsthat havegrowninto the main forum for industrial and academic experts to discuss component technology. Component-based software engineering (CBSE) has emerged as the under- ing technology for the assembly of ?exible software systems. In essence, CBSE is about composing computational building blocks to construct larger building blocks that ful?ll client needs. Most software engineers are involved in some form of component-based development. Nonetheless, the implications of CBSE adoption are wide-reaching and its challenges grow in tandem with its uptake, continuing to inspire our scienti?c speculation. Component-based development necessarily involves elements of software - chitecture, modular software design, software veri?cation, testing, con?guration and deployment. This year’s submissions represent a cross-section of CBSE - search that touches upon all these aspects. The theoretical foundations of c- ponent speci?cation, composition, analysis, and veri?cation continue to pose research challenges. What exactly constitutes an adequate semantics for c- munication and composition so that bigger things can be built from smaller things? How can formal approaches facilitate predictable assembly through b- ter analysis? We have grouped the proceedings into two sub-themes that deal with these issues: component models and communication and composition. At the same time, the world is changing.

Book Fault Diagnosis and Reconfiguration in Flight Control Systems

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis and Reconfiguration in Flight Control Systems written by C. Hajiyev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of fault diagnosis and reconfigurable control is a new and actually developing field of science and engineering. The subject becomes more interesting since there is an increasing demand for the navigation and control systems of aerospace vehicles, automated actuators etc. to be more safe and reliable. Nowadays, the problems of fault detection and isolation and reconfigurable control attract the attention the scientists in the world. The subject is emphasized in the recent international congresses such as IF AC World Congresses (San Francisco-1996, Beijing-1999, and Barcelona-2002) and lMEKO World Congresses (Tampere-1997, Osaka-1999, Vienna-2000), and also in the international conferences on fault diagnosis such as SAFEPROCESS Conferences (Hull-1997, Budapest-2000). The presented methods in the book are based on linear and nonlinear dynamic mathematical models of the systems. Technical objects and systems stated by these models are very large, and include various control systems, actuators, sensors, computer systems, communication systems, and mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic devices. The analytical fault diagnosis techniques of these objects have been developed for several decades. Many of those techniques are based on the use of the results of modem control theory. This is natural, because it is known that fault diagnosis process in control systems is considered as a part of general control process. xxii In organization of fault diagnosis of control systems, the use of the concepts and methods of modem control theory including concepts of state space, modeling, controllability, observability, estimation, identification, and filtering is very efficient.

Book Secure Data Management in Decentralized Systems

Download or read book Secure Data Management in Decentralized Systems written by Ting Yu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-11 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of database security has expanded greatly, with the rapid development of global inter-networked infrastructure. Databases are no longer stand-alone systems accessible only to internal users of organizations. Today, businesses must allow selective access from different security domains. New data services emerge every day, bringing complex challenges to those whose job is to protect data security. The Internet and the web offer means for collecting and sharing data with unprecedented flexibility and convenience, presenting threats and challenges of their own. This book identifies and addresses these new challenges and more, offering solid advice for practitioners and researchers in industry.
