Book Nelson Riddle

Download or read book Nelson Riddle written by Geoffrey Littlefield and published by Grosvenor House Publishing. This book was released on 2021-02-26 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'This book is about one of my all-time heroes, Mr Nelson Riddle. It makes for fascinating reading and I am enjoying it very much.' SIR MICHAEL PARKINSON NELSON RIDDLE was possibly the greatest; one of the most successful arrangers in the history of American popular music. He worked with global icons such as Peggy Lee, Judy Garland and many more. And in a time of segregation and deep racial tensions in the US, he collaborated with leading black artists such as Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald, forming close, personal friendships with both. He also wrote successful TV themes and Oscar-winning film scores. A complex and often forlorn genius, he will forever be remembered for his immortal work with FRANK SINATRA, but like fine wines his later vintage was just as palatable, if somewhat of a surprise.

Book A Lonely Pigeon

    Book Details:
  • Author : Twenn Tiffrey
  • Publisher : Paragon Publishing
  • Release : 2018-03
  • ISBN : 1782225242
  • Pages : 194 pages

Download or read book A Lonely Pigeon written by Twenn Tiffrey and published by Paragon Publishing. This book was released on 2018-03 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author Reece Patrick Wood was born in South East London in the mid-sixties. Twenn Tiffrey was conceived during a bout of ‘madness’ around 2002 and was born some years later along with the birth of this book. A Long gestation period indeed. The book price reflects that which the author would pay for a similar work. If you think it’s dear then you should beg, borrow or steal a copy. That doesn’t help the author pay the bills but it’s definitely worth a read so hey, do what you must! Suffice it to say, what with giving out such advice, the author has not now retired to his non-existent Surrey farmhouse with his life partner and their two Red Setter dogs Cain and Abel (also non-existent). Furthermore Twenn Tiffrey does not hold a Doctorate in philosophy and didn’t study at Cambridge. Nor was he a member of Footlights, Mensa, the Rotary Club or the Liberal Conservative Labour Party. Further furthermore, there’s no Kindle version of this book It’s a ‘proper’ book with a front and back cover and turny turny pages that cry to be dog-eared. It’s a book that goes on a shelf, a coffee table or anywhere else you wish to stick it…. (Don’t . . . Just don’t, ok!) Look, it’s radical I know but here’s an idea. Just pull out a tenner cash and buy the bloody book. It’s got a great cover if nothing else. Lotsa love Twenn Tiffrey x

Book From Tongue to Text A New Reading of Children s Poetry

Download or read book From Tongue to Text A New Reading of Children s Poetry written by Debbie Pullinger and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05-04 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The connection between childhood and poetry runs deep. And yet, poetry written for children has been neglected by criticism and resists prevailing theories of children's literature. Drawing on Walter Ong's theory of orality and on Iain McGilChrist's work on brain function, this book develops a new theoretical framework for the study of children's poetry. From Tongue to Text argues that the poem is a multimodal form that exists in the borderlands between the world of experience and the world of language and between orality and literacy – places that children themselves inhabit. Engaging with a wide range of poetry from nursery rhymes and Christina Rossetti to Michael Rosen and Carol Ann Duffy, Debbie Pullinger demonstrates how these 'tactful' works are shaped by the dynamics of orality and textuality.

It turns out that animals aren't allowed to attend school. Pig calls it hogwash, and Turkey agrees. All he has to do is find a way to show the students and the principal that turkeys--and their friends--do belong in school. With a gobble, gobble here; a gobble, gobble there; and a few clever costumes, he just might"--Jacket.
