Book Integrated Process Planning Scheduling and Due Date Assignment

Download or read book Integrated Process Planning Scheduling and Due Date Assignment written by Halil Ibrahim Demir and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-08-10 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditionally, the three most important manufacturing functions are process planning, scheduling, and due-date assignment, which are handled sequentially and separately. This book integrates these manufacturing processes and functions to increase global performance along with manufacturing and production cost savings. Integrated Process Planning, Scheduling, and Due-Date Assignment combines the most important manufacturing functions to use manufacturing resources better, reduce production costs, and eliminate bottlenecks with increased production efficiency. The book covers how the integration will help eliminate scheduling conflicts and how to adapt to irregular shop floor disturbances. It also explains how other elements, such as tardiness and earliness, are penalized and how prioritizing helps improve weight performance function. This book will draw the interest of professionals, students, and academicians in process planning, scheduling, and due-date assignment. It could also be supplemental material for manufacturing courses in industrial engineering and manufacturing engineering departments.

Book Combinatorial Optimization Problems in Planning and Decision Making

Download or read book Combinatorial Optimization Problems in Planning and Decision Making written by Michael Z. Zgurovsky and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-24 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book focuses on the next fields of computer science: combinatorial optimization, scheduling theory, decision theory, and computer-aided production management systems. It also offers a quick introduction into the theory of PSC-algorithms, which are a new class of efficient methods for intractable problems of combinatorial optimization. A PSC-algorithm is an algorithm which includes: sufficient conditions of a feasible solution optimality for which their checking can be implemented only at the stage of a feasible solution construction, and this construction is carried out by a polynomial algorithm (the first polynomial component of the PSC-algorithm); an approximation algorithm with polynomial complexity (the second polynomial component of the PSC-algorithm); also, for NP-hard combinatorial optimization problems, an exact subalgorithm if sufficient conditions were found, fulfilment of which during the algorithm execution turns it into a polynomial complexity algorithm. Practitioners and software developers will find the book useful for implementing advanced methods of production organization in the fields of planning (including operative planning) and decision making. Scientists, graduate and master students, or system engineers who are interested in problems of combinatorial optimization, decision making with poorly formalized overall goals, or a multiple regression construction will benefit from this book.

Book Metaheuristics for Production Scheduling

Download or read book Metaheuristics for Production Scheduling written by Bassem Jarboui and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-06-12 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the potentialities of metaheuristics for solving production scheduling problems and the relationship between these two fields. For the past several years, there has been an increasing interest in using metaheuristic methods to solve scheduling problems. The main reasons for this are that such problems are generally hard to solve to optimality, as well as the fact that metaheuristics provide very good solutions in a reasonable time. The first part of the book presents eight applications of metaheuristics for solving various mono-objective scheduling problems. The second part is itself split into two, the first section being devoted to five multi-objective problems to which metaheuristics are adapted, while the second tackles various transportation problems related to the organization of production systems. Many real-world applications are presented by the authors, making this an invaluable resource for researchers and students in engineering, economics, mathematics and computer science. Contents 1. Book Just in Time Systems

Download or read book Just in Time Systems written by Roger Rios and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-11-09 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether different types of costs are to be reduced, benefits to be maximized or scarce resources to be managed, scheduling theory provides intelligent methods for practitioners and scientists. The just-in-time (JIT) production philosophy has enriched the classical scheduling theory with models that consider characteristics such as inventory costs, set-up times, lot sizing, or maintenance. This edited volume considers the specifics of just-in-time systems. It provides knowledge and insights on recent advances in scheduling theory where just-in-time aspects are considered. Contributions on models, theory, algorithms, and applications, that bring the theory up-to-date on the state-of-the-art of JIT systems are presented. Professionals, researchers and graduate students will find this book useful.

Book Worst case Performance of Scheduling Heuristics

Download or read book Worst case Performance of Scheduling Heuristics written by Bo Chen and published by I.B.D. Limited. This book was released on 1994 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Attempts to cope with the challenge of optimal utilization of limited resources in accomplishing variegated tasks have resulted in an exciting field known as scheduling theory. The resources and tasks are commonly referred to as machines and jobs, respectively. In this thesis efficient heuristic algorithms are developed, which quickly provide near optimal solutions for various problems in scheduling theory that are practically intractable to solve to optimality. The worst-case performance of the heuristic algorithms is thoroughly analyzed. With respect to machine environments, the scheduling problems considered range from parallel machine shops, through open and flow shops, to common generalizations of the classical shop models. With respect to the job characteristics, these problems may involve preemptive or non-preemptive scheduling, with setup times included in or separated from processing times. With respect to the ways jobs are released and scheduled, both off-line and on-line problems are investigated."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
