After her mom passed away, Jennalyn was in the midst of moving, adjusting to life with a new baby, and helping her husband, Joel, work toward his dream job. At the time, she thought she’d processed her mother’s death, but only now that Jennalyn has two small children, a lovely new home, and a husband who is always working does she feel the full impact of what she has lost. Even among her sweet circle of friends, the Haven Makers, grief silently overwhelms Jennalyn, until an unexpected encounter allows her to express herself in ways she hasn’t fully been able to with her husband. Even though Christy, Sierra, Emily, and Tess provide a soft place to land in times of tension, Jennalyn remains guarded, especially when Tess reveals she is tangled emotionally in a relationship that was thorny from the start. Will the two women open up and remain honest with the others in their Haven Makers group? Or will their hesitation to truly be known, faults and all, keep them from holding on to the friendships that have been the sweetest gift during this season of life?

Book What on Earth

    Book Details:
  • Author : Barney Wiget
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2022-04-28
  • ISBN : 1666795496
  • Pages : 234 pages

Download or read book What on Earth written by Barney Wiget and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-04-28 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his most famous Sermon, Jesus announces a Kingdom so counterintuitive that it appears upside down in contrast to conventional wisdom. By prescribing both a revolutionary personal piety and a radical social possibility he teaches us how to become better people who in turn make the world better. His vision for a countercultural Kingdom challenges our engagement with contemporary culture morally, socially, and even politically. The impact of this Kingdom "on the earth as it is in heaven," with a view to partnering with Jesus in his venture to nudge the world toward its intended design is the focus of this compelling treatment of the Sermon. By a lifestyle of holy nonconformity shaped by the "Blessed Attitudes" (Beatitudes), Jesus commissions his prophetic community to embody a social alternative that the world cannot imagine on its own and to foment a humble and loving cultural shift where the privileged and powerless flourish together in peace and justice. As previews of the coming attractions when Christ will return and reign as King over a new heaven and earth, Kingdom citizens work toward initiating such a world on earth as it is in heaven today.

Book Cushions Kitchens and Christ

Download or read book Cushions Kitchens and Christ written by Louise Campion and published by University of Wales Press. This book was released on 2022-01-15 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book represents the first full-length study of the prevalence of domestic imagery in late medieval religious literature. It examines as yet understudied patterns of household imagery and allegory across four fifteenth-century spiritual texts, all of which are Middle English translations of earlier Latin works. These texts are drawn from a range of popular genres of medieval religious writing, including the spiritual guidance text, Life of Christ, and collection of revelations received by visionary women. All of the texts discussed in this book have identifiable late medieval readers, which further enables a discussion of the way in which these book users might have responded to the domestic images in each one. This is a hugely important area of enquiry, as the literal late medieval household was becoming increasingly culturally important during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and these texts’ frequent recourse to domestic imagery would have been especially pertinent.
