The second letter is written in reply to an inquiry from Torry about "superphosphate of alumina." After discussing the issue, Daubeny goes on to catch Torrey up on more personal matters.

The letter is accompanied by two letters outlining its provenance as a gift from Raymond H. Torrey, who acquired it from Benner's son.
