Reports that the General Court of Massachusetts (the Massachusetts legislature) will remain adjourned until September 1788 at which time, he hopes, they will be able to give orders to the people to choose the members for the General Government. Obtained a resolve from the General Court that he hopes will make up for the loss I have sustained by pledging myself for the clothing & supplies to the late Federal troops- Docket indicates answered the 29th and assured him the note 1045 was not ever received at Nourses office. Marked private on the address leaf.

Comments that the general court adjourned and the members left with favorable ideas about the constitution. Details the execution of one of his former soldiers in Boston for burglary. States that Mrs. Thomas Russell died yesterday. Stamped Boston and marked as private.

The amendments originated with [Nathan] Dane, [John] Bacon, and [Benjamin] Austin. Jackson declares, they are the heads of the Junto that are endeavoring to distroy & weaken the General Government.

Says the people are ready for the change and that it will be discussed fully. Predicts parties will be raised during the debate. Discusses state ratification. Will send an update from time to time. Mentions European affairs and fears French aggression. Asks for news. Says Washington is doing well, but that his crops are injured by severe drought.
