Book International Thermodynamic Tables of the Fluid State Helium 4

Download or read book International Thermodynamic Tables of the Fluid State Helium 4 written by S. Angus and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-04-20 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Thermodynamic Tables of the Fluid State Helium-4 presents the IUPAC Thermodynamic Tables for the thermodynamic properties of helium. The IUPAC Thermodynamic Tables Project has therefore encouraged the critical analysis of the available thermodynamic measurements for helium and their synthesis into tables. This book is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the experimental results and compares with the equations used to generate the tables. These equations are supplemented by a vapor pressure equation, which represents the 1958 He-4 scale of temperature that is defined in terms of the vapor pressure of helium-4. The second chapter are devoted to various equation of state used for the determination of thermodynamic properties. The third chapter contains IUPAC Tables, including their construction, limits, use, and accuracy. This book will be of value to physical chemists and researchers in the field.

Book The Impact of Selling the Federal Helium Reserve

Download or read book The Impact of Selling the Federal Helium Reserve written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2000-06-18 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Helium Privatization Act of 1996 (P.L. 104-273) directs the Department of the Interior to begin liquidating the U.S. Federal Helium Reserve by 2005 in a manner consistent with "minimum market disruption" and at a price given by a formula specified in the act. It also mandates that the Department of the Interior "enter into appropriate arrangements with the National Academy of Sciences to study and report on whether such disposal of helium reserves will have a substantial adverse effect on U.S. scientific, technical, biomedical, or national security interests." This report is the product of that mandate. To provide context, the committee has examined the helium market and the helium industry as a whole to determine how helium users would be affected under various scenarios for selling the reserve within the act's constraints. The Federal Helium Reserve, the Bush Dome reservoir, and the Cliffside facility are mentioned throughout this report. It is important to recognize that they are distinct entities. The Federal Helium Reserve is federally owned crude helium gas that currently resides in the Bush Dome reservoir. The Cliffside facility includes the storage facility on the Bush Dome reservoir and the associated buildings pipeline.

Book excerpt: "Helium: From Discovery to Modern Energy Applications" is an authoritative exploration of helium, one of the most fascinating and essential elements in the modern world. This comprehensive guide takes readers on a journey from helium's initial discovery in the sun's spectrum to its pivotal role in cutting-edge technologies and its potential as a game-changer in future energy systems. Helium is more than just a gas used to fill balloons—it's a critical resource that underpins advancements in fields as diverse as healthcare, electronics, aerospace, and energy. This book delves into the unique properties of helium that make it indispensable for applications such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), semiconductor manufacturing, and space exploration. It also addresses the looming challenges of helium scarcity and the innovative solutions being developed to ensure its availability for future generations. The book is structured to provide both a historical perspective and a forward-looking view of helium's role in our world. Early chapters offer a fascinating account of helium's discovery and its initial uses, setting the stage for more technical discussions on its physical and chemical properties. Readers will gain a deep understanding of how helium functions in cryogenics, superconductivity, and quantum computing, as well as its potential as a fuel for nuclear fusion. Special emphasis is placed on helium-3, a rare isotope with promising applications in energy production. The book explores the ambitious idea of mining helium-3 on the Moon and its potential to revolutionize the global energy landscape. Through detailed analysis and case studies, the author sheds light on the economic, environmental, and ethical considerations surrounding helium's use. Written by Ron Legarski, a telecommunications and technology solutions expert with over two decades of industry experience, this book combines technical expertise with practical insights. Ron's deep understanding of the technological landscape, coupled with his interest in helium's role in the future of energy, makes this book a valuable resource for professionals, researchers, and students alike. Book Geology and Production of Helium and Associated Gases

Download or read book Geology and Production of Helium and Associated Gases written by Steven A. Tedesco and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2022-05-18 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geology and Production of Helium and Associated Gases brings together several different theories and models on how helium is generated, migrated to the reservoir, and trapped from several geologic rock types. The importance of this element in society cannot be stressed enough, but helium is in significant short supply. Nitrogen is also important in the fertilizer industry and is a byproduct of helium and natural gas production. Nitrogen presence often indicates the presence of Helium. This book brings together a tremendous amount of geology, engineering, and production methods not available elsewhere in one source. Includes numerous case histories from locations around the globe Features detailed discussions of exploration and production methods Presents original, detailed geologic maps where helium deposits have been sourced
