Der systematisch interessierte Leser wird sich mehr durch den ersten Teil angesprochen fühlen, in dem ein Interpretationsansatz zu Hegels Idee einer Realphilosophie vorgestellt wird. Das philologische Interesse wird dann eher im zweiten Hauptteil befriedigt, der eine ausführüche Detailanalyse der „Philosophie des subjektiven Geistes" durchführt. Trotzdem üegen hier nicht zweierlei Bücher vor, die man gut auch getrennt hätte pubüzieren können, denn der systematische Interpretationsansatz wird erst durch die anschüeßende Detailanalyse belegt sowie auch die komparatorische Form der Kommentierung, die in der „Einleitung" nähere Erläuterung finden wird, sich erst vor dem Hintergrund jenes Interpretationsansatzes als sinnvoll erweist. Auch wenn sich also beide Hauptteile mit einem fokussierten Interesse getrennt voneinander lesen lassen, so bedarf doch die Argumentation dieses Buches beider Teilstücke, um vollständig zu sein.

Mit dem dritten Teilband werden nun der Editorische Bericht und die Anmerkungen vorgelegt, die umfassend über die edierten Manuskripte und die Fülle des historischen und zeitgenössischen Materials Auskunft geben, das Hegel kritisch zu einem eigenständigen Entwurf verarbeitet hat, den er den sich bereits abzeichnenden Tendenzen zu einer positivistischen und reduktionistischen Wissenschaftsentwicklung entgegengestellt hat.

Book excerpt: Hegels Ruhm gründet sich auf seine Berliner Vorlesungen, die in der zweiten Abteilung der »Gesammelten Werke« nun erstmals in textkritischer Edition vorgelegt werden. Den Auftakt bildet die Edition der »Vorlesungen über die Philosophie des subjektiven Geistes« (1822), in Vorbereitung ist die Edition der »Vorlesungen über die Philosophie des Rechts« (1817). Hegels große Wirkung auf seine Zeitgenossen beruhte nicht so sehr auf der Rezeption seiner zuvor publizierten Schriften, sondern vor allem auf seinen Vorlesungen an der Berliner Universität, an die er 1818 berufen wurde und an der bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 1831 den Ton angab. Entsprechend haben seine Schüler in der bereits 1832 begründeten »Freundesausgabe« den Vorlesungen große Bedeutung beigemessen und sie durch Kompilationen aus Hegels nachgelassenen Manuskripten und diversen Hörernachschriften in die Ausgabe der Werke integriert. Für die Edition der Vorlesungen in der historisch-kritischen Ausgabe der »Gesammelten Werke« kann das Prinzip der »freihändigen« Kompilation eines Haupttextes aus diversen Quellentexten, das - zeitbedingt ?- von den Herausgebern der »Freundesausgabe« befolgt wurde, allerdings keine Geltung mehr haben. Geboten wird daher in der zweiten Abteilung der »GW«, die die Bände 23 bis 31 umfassen wird, der authentische Wortlaut aller erhaltenen Nachschriften zu den von Hegel gehaltenen Vorlesungen, um der Forschung ein sicheres Fundament zu geben. Mit den »Vorlesungen über die Philosophie des subjektiven Geistes« (Bd. 25) erscheint nun der erste Band der zweiten Abteilung der »Gesammelten Werke« Hegels. Er enthält die Vorlesungsnachschriften aus dem Sommersemester 1822 (Heinrich Gustav Hotho) und dem Sommersemester 1825 (K. G. J. v. Griesheim mit Varianten aus den Nachschriften von F. C. H. V. von Kehler und Moritz Pinder). Hegel beschäftigt sich in diesen Vorlesungen mit der Entfaltung der Bestimmungen des ersten Teils der Geisteslehre, deren systematische Dreiteilung (Anthropologie, Bewußtseinslehre, Psychologie) er in der ersten Auflage seiner »Enzyklopädie der philosophischen Wissenschaften im Grundrisse« von 1817 ausgearbeitet hatte. Beeindruckend ist, wie Hegel in der Anthropologie einen Großteil der zeitgenössischen Literatur zu den damals populären und viel diskutierten Themenbereichen - der Rassenlehre, dem animalischen Magnetismus, den Phänomenen psychosomatischer Erkrankungen, der Pädagogik und den sogenannten Geisteskrankheiten - kritisch verarbeitet und den sich bereits abzeichnenden Tendenzen zu einer positivistischen und reduktionistischen Wissenschaftsentwicklung einen eigenständigen Entwurf entgegenstellt.
