Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This exhibit contains a detailed description of each variable on each input card image. A Functional Use Index that can be used to determine which input variables are required for specific tasks appears first. Following the Functional Use Index is a Table of Contents that provides a brief description of all HEC-5 data card images. The Summary of Input Cards at the end of this exhibit shows the sequential arrangement of card images and also serves as the "table of contents" by showing, in Field 10, the page numbers where the variables are described in this exhibit.

Download or read book Advances in Hydroscience written by Ven Te Chow and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Hydroscience, Volume 12-1981 covers articles in the areas of fluid mechanics and hydrology. The book presents articles on advances in cavitation research, applied stochastic theory of storage in evolution, and echohydrodynamics. The text also includes articles on the usefulness and the basic nature of the application of pattern recognition in the context of hydrologic data analysis. A summary of the Hydrologic Engineering Center's experience in water resources system simulation is also encompassed. The book will prove invaluable to hydrologists, practitioners handling the design and control of hydraulic structures and machinery, and engineers working in the water industry.
Download or read book A Generalized Simulation Model for Reservoir System Analysis written by Richard J. Hayes and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper overviews the general features of computer program 'HEC-5, Simulation of Flood Control and Conservation Systems', with emphasis on the capabilities of the most recent release of HEC-5, Version 7.2, dated March 1991. HEC-5 can simulate the essential features and operation goals and constraints of simple or complex systems with simulation intervals ranging from minutes to one month. Single event flood analysis and period of record conservation analysis may be accomplished with the model. Flood control analysis includes balanced system operation for downstream damage centers with consideration of forecasted local flows and hydrologic routing. In addition, induced surcharge operation based on spillway gate regulation schedules can be simulated. Hydropower analysis may include run-of-river, peaking, and pumped storage plants as well as system power operation. Water supply simulation can include reservoir and downstream flow requirements in addition to divers ions and return flows. Water Quality analysis can include simulation of temperature, dissolved oxygen, up to three conservative and up to three nonconservative constituents. Computer Programs, Simulation, Reservoirs, Flood Control, Reservoir Yield, Hydroelectric Power, Water Supply, Water Quality.

Download or read book Alternatives in Regulated River Management written by James A. Gore and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Researchers and managers of regulated river systems will find this volume useful in acquiring information for deciding an integrated management plan for regulated river operations. Rather than the ecological theory of impacts of flow regulation, emphasis has been placed on methods to predict water quality and habitat alterations, as well as techniques to mitigate impacts from various operational scenarios. Although most chapters refer to impacts of riverine impoundments, these alternatives apply to any regulated situation in which changes in water quality or flow pattern occur. The predictive modeling techniques are explained primarily from a theoretical background. However, extensive bibliographies can guide the uninitiated to specific texts and software. Where controversial techniques have been presented, alternate methods are also described. Major topic areas include water quality problems, channel modification and management, ecological modeling and management, as well as a section on perspectives for ecological management and special problems in developing nations.
