Book excerpt: Brielle St. James, star of a popular reality show, just might enjoy the spotlight and attention a little too much. She makes no excuses about who she is, what she likes, or what she feels she deserves. A man who wants to be with her will bend because Brielle refuses to, not even a little. Especially if that man happens to be a deadly, gorgeous, anal-retentive, bodyguard, whose smile makes her want to act totally out of character and do whatever he asks. Justin Jian guarded the princess of reality television as a favor to a friend. But he already had an almost irrational urge to protect her at all costs, spurred by the haunted look in her eyes on their first encounter. He also had an almost irrational desire for her; and though he vowed it would never be sated, somehow Brielle forced her way under his armor. The result was a night of volcanic passion, but the next morning Brielle’s smart and sassy mouth quickly washed away any thoughts of a future together. Years pass and Brielle’s star has faded a bit, but her desperation to get it back exposes her to some unsavory people. After she is kidnapped and secreted to a foreign country, Justin runs headfirst into Hell, with rescue on his mind. He seems ready to risk it all for Brielle, but can she convince herself that he means more than the fame she covets? Proposal from Hell is book two in the Heaven on Hell Island Universe If you want to fully enjoy the experience of this world, you should read Heaven on Hell Island.

Book The Battle for Hell s Island

Download or read book The Battle for Hell s Island written by Stephen L. Moore and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2016-11-01 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of Pacific Payback, the true story of how a patchwork band of aviators saved Guadalcanal during WWII. November 1942: Japanese and American forces fight for control of Guadalcanal, a small but pivotal island in the South Pacific. The Japanese call it Jigoku no Shima—Hell's Island. Amid a seeming stalemate, a small group of U.S. Navy dive-bombers is called upon to help determine the island’s fate. When their carriers are lost, they are forced to operate from Henderson Field, a small dirt-and-gravel airstrip on Guadalcanal. They help form the Cactus Air Force, tasked with making dangerous flights from their jungle airfield while holding the line against Japanese air assaults, warship bombardments, and sniper attacks from the jungle. When the Japanese launch a final offensive to take the island, these dive-bomber jocks answer the call of duty—turning back an enemy warship armada, fighter planes, and a convoy of troop transports. The Battle for Hell's Island reveals how command of the South Pacific, and the outcome of the Pacific War, depended on control of a single dirt airstrip—and the small group of battle-weary aviators sent to protect it with their lives. • Pages : 320 pages

Download or read book Bali written by Phil Jarratt and published by . This book was released on 2014-09-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phil Jarrett draws upon first-hand experience and extensive research to provide a lively and entertaining narrative of the social, cultural and political history of an island paradise close to Australians' hearts. Heaven and Hell details the mythology and spirituality of Bali as well as the island's tumultuous and often violent past. Extensive interviews with expats and residents from the 70's in Bali deliver to readers a unique first-hand view of the dramatic changes and effects that modern development and western colonisation have had over the past 50 years, as well as enchanting us with their memories and stories. A popular destination for Australians, in particular, Bali represents many different things - for numerous young people it is their first destination overseas, for some it is a spiritual destination, others visit for a beach holiday, and still more come for profitable business opportunities. Heaven and Hell is a story of survival in the face of genocide, natural disaster, terrorism, cultural imperialism and corruption on a grand scale, and of how Bali has managed to present the same smiling face to generations of tourists, despite the enormous price its people have had to pay for inhabiting the glorious island at the "morning of the world".

Book Visions of Heaven and Hell

Download or read book Visions of Heaven and Hell written by John Bunyan and published by Sovereign Grace Publishers,. This book was released on 2007-02 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the wicked have traveled a course of sin, and discover they have reason to fear the God;s judgement and wrath for their sins, they begin to wish there is no God to punish them, then by degrees they persuade themselves there is no God, and then they set themselves to study the arguments to support their opinion. This excellent book by John Bunyan covers the subject matter of the existence of heaven and hell as well as studies and dispells the arguments presented by sinners who argue there is no heaven and hell. Most do not know that Bunyan wrote some 60 books, and poetry too. And also almost a well-kept secret is that his doctrine was so biblically laced that many good men would call him too severe. He believed in, and taught, ALL the doctrines of grace, including double-predestination, or reprobation. Why then is he not smeared with the name of hyper-Calvinist like Goodwin, Gill, and others? I guess the same people ought to call Luther a hyper-Lutheran, for he believed and taught it, too. Why begin a review of Bunyan's writings with such a view of his doctrine? It is to show that a Pilgrim's Progress can come only from someone who believes and teaches ALL the counsel of God, without flinching, yea, with loving-kindness. Illegally, He sat in a jail cell over a river for 12 years with his Bible, Galatians by Luther, and another book or two. He had the choice of feeling miserable and murmuring, or of filling his time, thoughts, and energies with studying that Bible, and seeking a way to be of help to his more comfortable, but less dedicated, brothers and sisters. Listen, dear saints, you can't do any better than reading Bunyan. Like Gurnall, he covers everything here and there, and with a sweetness that can come only from God. What a shame that his large heart should be encased in such small print. But, like digging gold, it is worth the time and trouble to dig spiritual gold. Bunyan (1628-1688) rose from an humble beginning to being a preacher to a little house church, to 12 years in jail because he would not agree to quit preaching, to a huge church in London. He wrote 66 books, nearly all while in jail.

Three weeks, but already Bárour's ghost has faded. Snow falls so heavily that it binds heaven and earth together. As the villagers gather in the inn to drink schnapps and coffee while the boy reads to them from Hamlet, Jens the postman stumbles in half-dead, having almost frozen to his horse. On his next journey to the fjords Jens is accompanied by the boy, and both must risk their lives for each other, and for an unusual item of mail. The Sorrow of Angels is a timeless and powerful story that evokes the struggle of man against the ferocious majesty of nature. Asked by The Independent what inspired him to write these three novels, Stefánsson named his first visit to the landscape of Iceland's West Fjords. "It was like a punch in the solar plexus . . . The mountains seemed to be saying, 'Why aren't you writing about us?"
