Book Heat Transfer XIII

Download or read book Heat Transfer XIII written by B. Sundén and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2014-07-02 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heat Transfer XIII: Simulation and Experiments in Heat and Mass Transfer contains the proceedings of the thirteenth conference in the well established series on Simulation and Experiments in Heat Transfer and its applications. Advances in computational methods for solving and understanding heat transfer problems continue to be important because heat transfer topics and related phenomena are commonly of a complex nature and different mechanisms like heat conduction, convection, turbulence, thermal radiation and phase change as well as chemical reactions may occur simultaneously. Typically, applications are found in heat exchangers, gas turbine cooling, turbulent combustion and fires, fuel cells, batteries, micro- and mini- channels, electronics cooling, melting and solidification, chemical processing etc. Heat Transfer might be regarded as an established and mature scientific discipline, but it has played a major role in new emerging areas such as sustainable development and reduction of greenhouse gases as well as for micro- and nano- scale structures and bioengineering. Non-linear phenomena other than momentum transfer may occur due to temperature-dependent thermophysical properties. In engineering design and development, reliable and accurate computational methods are requested to replace or complement expensive and time consuming experimental trial an error work. Tremendous advancements have been achieved during recent years due to improved numerical solution methods for non-linear partial differential equations, turbulence modelling advancements and developments of computers and computing algorithms to achieve efficient and rapid simulations. Nevertheless, to further progress in computational methods requires developments in theoretical and predictive procedures – both basic and innovative – and in applied research. Accurate experimental investigations are needed to validate the numerical calculations. Topics covered include: Heat transfer in energy producing devices; Heat transfer enhancements; Heat exchangers; Natural and forced convection and radiation; Multiphase flow heat transfer; Modelling and experiments; Heat recovery; Heat and mass transfer problems; Environmental heat transfer; Experimental and measuring technologies; Thermal convert studies.

Book Principles of Enhanced Heat Transfer

Download or read book Principles of Enhanced Heat Transfer written by Ralph L. Webb and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2005-06-23 with total page 824 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is essential for anyone involved in the design of high-performance heat exchangers or heat devices, also known as "second generation heat transfer technology." Enhanced surfaces are geometrics with special shapes that promote much higher rates of heat transfer than smooth or plain surfaces. This revision presents the subject matter just beyond the introductory level and traces the advancement of heat transfer research in areas such as integral-fin and micro-fin tubes, complex plate-fin geometries, and micro-channels for single-phase and two-phase applications.

Book Conjugate Problems in Convective Heat Transfer

Download or read book Conjugate Problems in Convective Heat Transfer written by Abram S. Dorfman and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2009-08-26 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Illustrates Calculations Using Machine and Technological Processes The conjugate heat transfer (CHT) problem addresses the thermal interaction between a body and fluid flowing over or through it. This is an essential consideration in nature and different areas of engineering, including mechanics, aerospace, nuclear engineering, biology, and meteorology. Advanced conjugate modeling of the heat transfer process is now used extensively in a wide range of applications. Conjugate Problems in Convective Heat Transfer addresses the latest theory, methods, and applications associated with both analytical and numerical methods of solution CHT problems and their exact and approximate solutions. It demonstrates how the true value of a CHT solution is derived by applying these solutions to contemporary engineering design analysis. Assembling cutting-edge information on modern modeling from more than 200 publications, this book presents more than 100 example applications in thermal treatment materials, machinery operation, and technological processes. Creating a practical review of current CHT development, the author includes methods associated with estimating heat transfer, particularly that from arbitrary non-isothermal surfaces in both laminar and turbulent flows. Harnesses the Modeling Power of CHT Unique in its consistent compilation and application of current knowledge, this book presents advanced CHT analysis as a powerful tool for modeling various device operations and technological processes, from relatively simple procedures to complex multistage, nonlinear processes.

  • Author : Donatello Annaratone
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2010-03-14
  • ISBN : 3642039324

Download or read book Engineering Heat Transfer written by Donatello Annaratone and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-14 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a generalist textbook; it is designed for anybody interested in heat transmission, including scholars, designers and students. Two criteria constitute the foundation of Annaratone’s books, including the present one. The first one consists of indispensable scientific rigor without theoretical exasperation. The inclusion in the book of some theoretical studies, even if admirable for their scientific rigor, would have strengthened the scientific foundation of this publication, yet without providing the reader with further applicable know-how. The second criterion is to deliver practical solution to operational problems. This criterion is fulfilled through equations based on scientific rigor, as well as a series of approximated equations, leading to convenient and practically acceptable solutions, and through diagrams and tables. When a practical case is close to a well defined theoretical solution, corrective factors are shown to offer simple and correct solutions to the problem.
