Download or read book Eat Your Vitamins written by Mascha Davis and published by Adams Media. This book was released on 2020-01-21 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The A-to-Z guide to essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, so you can ditch synthetic supplements and promote health naturally with nourishing foods. Vitamins and minerals are the building blocks of good health. But the heavily processed foods that are so common in today’s modern diet are stripped of these nutrients, leaving many people nutrient deficient despite meeting (or exceeding) their daily calorie needs. The accepted solution is to take supplements created in a lab, but the dosage and interactions can be confusing, and supplements are loosely regulated and not always foolproof, especially since our bodies are designed to receive nutrients from natural, whole foods. Eat Your Vitamins features fifty key vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients essential to your health. You will find clear definitions of each nutrient along with the role it plays in the body, how it is best consumed and absorbed, recommended daily doses, and detailed lists of foods and natural sources that contain the vitamin along with a recipe for a nutrient-rich meal. Ditch the synthetic supplements and make the right choice about how to properly feed and fuel your body.

Book Vegetables and Fruits

Download or read book Vegetables and Fruits written by Thomas S. C. Li and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2008-01-24 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modern synthetic diet, formulated to appeal to our inherent attraction to sugar, salt, fats, and calories at the expense of nutrition, leaves us over-fed and under-nourished. A considerable portion of chronic human diseases, including diabetes and heart disease, appear to be related largely to a diet that is inadequate in the essential vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and other constituents found in natural, unprocessed foods. Employing a no-nonsense, tabular format, Vegetables and Fruits: Nutritional and Therapeutic Values presents detailed information on nutritional and therapeutic constituents and their applications for more than 200 vegetables and fruits currently available in North American markets. Edited by one of the world’s best known and respected researchers, this comprehensive reference guide begins with a general introduction to essential human values such as protein, minerals, vitamins, and fiber. Five tables list nutritional and therapeutic values, vitamin and mineral content, and flavonoid, isoflavone, and carotenoid presence in raw vegetables. The sixth presents uses of vegetables and fruits to maintain health and fight disease. Five appendices provide lists of scientific and English names, as well as a review of chemical compounds and their sources. Today, dietitians agree that plant foods should comprise the major part of the healthy human diet. Moreover, they have determined that fruits and vegetables are the keys to obtaining not just adequate vitamins and minerals, but a wide variety of other elements that can contribute therapeutically to human health. With the increasing emphasis on good nutrition and healthy eating, this handy guide is crucial to ensuring optimal nutrition from a plant-based diet.

Book 10 Essential Foods

Download or read book 10 Essential Foods written by Lalitha Thomas and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2015-02-25 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Well-balanced, nutritious foods are an important focus for healthy lifestyles. Thomas has narrowed her focus to 10 essential foods for optimal health and well-being. She lists them early in her book and discusses each food's reason for being a part of the list. Each food listed is significant in its ability to provide healthy dosages of either beta carotene, essential amino acids, disease-preventing phytochemicals, calcium, and vitamin B-12, among others. Thomas' writing is factual and straightforward, with a touch of humor to make the book more palatable. She provides a wealth of information on each of her chosen ten essential foods, and then provides an additional chapter on meat, poultry, and dairy. While her focus is primarily on a vegetarian lifestyle, she does give healthy possibilities for those still desiring to include these foods as part of their diet. Two other positive additions to each chapter include a "Lalitha Rants" section where she shares stories in an exasperated nature about health concerns she feels are either misdiagnosed or misinformed to the general public. Much can be learned from her tirades! Also, each chapter includes kid-friendly recipes so that children can incorporate healthy eating habits at a young age. Finally, a useful bibliography lists relevant sources quoted in the book and gives suggestions for other helpful cookbooks and resources. Medical clinics, supplies, recommended products, health accessories, ten essential snacks, and survival choice listings are also listed, making this book thorough and highly informative. Much talk about the importance of organic vegetables and fruits is discussed. This is a follow-up to 10 Essential Herbs, also regarded by many as a valid guidebook for health.

Book A Wellness Food Guide For Your Holistic Health

Download or read book A Wellness Food Guide For Your Holistic Health written by Rani Joseph Cherian and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-02-02 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ralph Waldo Emerson has well said, "Get Health, No labor, effort nor exercise that can gain it must be grudged." I think Corona virus came to create a worldwide awareness on the importance of prevention and health. As long as you are healthy and are able to do all the activities of daily life you will never think of how important your health is. I say this because I realized its great importance when I lost my health and with the help of modern medicine integrated with alternative medical treatments, especially vitamin C and the nutrition cocktail, my health was regained. If it was not for that, I might have been stuck to a wheel chair for the rest of my life with only one leg. That's the reason why I felt the need of creating awareness among the public about this way of treatment for millions to be benefited by it.I can confidently say that a well-balanced diet, dietary supplements and exercise could save many lives even from the brim of death. I am the eye witness of a number of such cases. In this book I've detailed about the important roles of vitamins especially vitamin C, D, minerals and other nutrients as well as various types of exercises and life style modifications for holistic health. Various ways and means of achieving health through a well-balanced diet with proper nutrients, vitamins and minerals; symptoms and causes of several diseases and the amount of food to be taken daily according to your age are explained in the book. You will also find a table with the nutrient facts of above 100 fruits and vegetables. Some Recipes, included are an easy take away for your healthy diet. This book is written with the aim of creating awareness, inspiration and knowledge about the importance of 'consuming food as medicine and not medicine as food.' You are so busy running about making wealth for yourself and your family, giving too little importance to health which is your actual wealth. I like to quote a Spanish proverb here for your better understanding, "A man too busy to take care of his health is like a mechanic too busy to take care of his tools." In this book the protagonist too was very busy making money doing multiple jobs, paying little attention to the signs and symptoms of the bodies ill health, until finally his greatest machine (body) broke down and how his illness and multiple deaths in the family shook the whole system and turned everything upside down. All his parents and his own lifetime earnings sufficed only for the hospital bill payments. Realising this, how his children came into integrative medical treatment system and the developments thereafter, all very well figured out in 'A wellness food guide for your holistic health.' So I wish you an enjoyable reading experience and love to see you and your family healthy, wealthy and happy for the rest of your life. Let, eat healthy, live healthy and die healthy, be your motto for life after sticking on to reading till the end. Thank you. Other Books Published: The Golden Trophy of Father Sky; Josephinte Makal

Book Dietary Reference Intakes for Thiamin Riboflavin Niacin Vitamin B6 Folate Vitamin B12 Pantothenic Acid Biotin and Choline

Download or read book Dietary Reference Intakes for Thiamin Riboflavin Niacin Vitamin B6 Folate Vitamin B12 Pantothenic Acid Biotin and Choline written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2000-07-15 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1941, Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) has been recognized as the most authoritative source of information on nutrient levels for healthy people. Since publication of the 10th edition in 1989, there has been rising awareness of the impact of nutrition on chronic disease. In light of new research findings and a growing public focus on nutrition and health, the expert panel responsible for formulation RDAs reviewed and expanded its approachâ€"the result: Dietary Reference Intakes. This new series of references greatly extends the scope and application of previous nutrient guidelines. For each nutrient the book presents what is known about how the nutrient functions in the human body, what the best method is to determine its requirements, which factors (caffeine or exercise, for example) may affect how it works, and how the nutrient may be related to chronic disease. This volume of the series presents information about thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B12, pantothenic acid, biotin, and choline. Based on analysis of nutrient metabolism in humans and data on intakes in the U.S. population, the committee recommends intakes for each age groupâ€"from the first days of life through childhood, sexual maturity, midlife, and the later years. Recommendations for pregnancy and lactation also are made, and the book identifies when intake of a nutrient may be too much. Representing a new paradigm for the nutrition community, Dietary Reference Intakes encompasses: Estimated Average Requirements (EARs). These are used to set Recommended Dietary Allowances. Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs). Intakes that meet the RDA are likely to meet the nutrient requirement of nearly all individuals in a life-stage and gender group. Adequate Intakes (AIs). These are used instead of RDAs when an EAR cannot be calculated. Both the RDA and the AI may be used as goals for individual intake. Tolerable Upper Intake Levels (ULs). Intakes below the UL are unlikely to pose risks of adverse health effects in healthy people. This new framework encompasses both essential nutrients and other food components thought to pay a role in health, such as dietary fiber. It incorporates functional endpoints and examines the relationship between dose and response in determining adequacy and the hazards of excess intake for each nutrient.
