Download or read book The Great Adventure written by Jack Popjes and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2024-10-08 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We lived with the Canela people to give them the same life choices billions of people around the world already have: 1. To use modern medicine, or not. 2. To learn to read and write, or not. 3. To read the message of love from their Creator, or not. The Canelas gladly used modern medicine when they saw the wonderful results. They taught us their language and accepted the alphabet we developed. We experienced no major problems. When we began to provide God’s Word in their language, however, powerful unseen forces blocked progress. “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil.” (Eph 6:12 NIV)
Download or read book The Great One written by Sports Illustrated and published by McClelland & Stewart. This book was released on 2012-11-06 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sports Illustrated followed The Great One's career right from the very beginning. Starting in 1978, when Gretzky was a young phenom playing for the Soo Greyhounds, they had their best writers cover his rise to fame and subsequent dominance of the sport. His staggering career stats tend to overshadow the struggles he faced in his career -- the early days in Edmonton, when he was establishing himself as the greatest player, but could not lead his team to a cup. The years after the trade that shook the hockey world he spent years trying to lead a new team to glory, only managing to reach the final once more, in 1993, and losing in five games. Covered as well are his forgotten goal-droughts, the thoughts that he had lost his touch in the early nineties. His struggles with injury and playing though his father's near death. The Great One reads not like a sports book, but a biography of one of the greatest athletes of all time. Sports Illustrated's greatest writers all contribute articles, EM Swift, Michael Farber, Jack Kalla, to tell the complete story of Wayne Gretzky's career.

Download or read book The Papers of Thomas Jefferson Volume 46 written by Thomas Jefferson and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2022-12-13 with total page 841 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A definitive scholarly edition of the correspondence and papers of Thomas Jefferson Congress adjourns early in March, and Jefferson goes home to Monticello for a month. After his return to Washington, he corresponds with territorial governors concerning appointments to legislative councils. He peruses information about Native American tribes, Spanish and French colonial settlements, and the geography of the Louisiana Territory. He seeks the consent of Spanish authorities to a U.S. exploration along the Red River while asserting privately that Spain “has met our advances with jealousy, secret malice, and ill faith.” A new law extends civil authority over foreign warships in U.S. harbors, and he considers using it also to constrain privateers. Federalist opponents bring up “antient slanders” to question his past private and official actions. His personal finances are increasingly reliant on bank loans. He starts a search for a new farm manager at Monticello. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark write from Fort Mandan in April before setting out up the Missouri River. Jefferson will not receive their reports until mid-July. In the Mediterranean, William Eaton coordinates the capture of the port of Derna and Tobias Lear negotiates terms of peace with Pasha Yusuf Qaramanli to end the conflict with Tripoli. News of those events will not reach the United States until September.
