Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Jesus Kinda Day has been a labor of love since late 2017. A devotional born during a time of recovery for the author. Experiencing the loss of her husband was a heartbreaking and traumatic time in her life. Through it all she would read her Bible and devotionals. But there were so many times she could not read or think, and it was more crying out to God. After the Lord came for Stephen she was still in a daze but started reading the Bible and devotionals again and this time she would put her thoughts down and started sending them every day by text to family and friends to encourage them. She was still struggling with her loss but sending the text and others telling her how helpful the messages were gave her joy in knowing God was using her pain and healing to comfort others. As time passed some of those receiving the text said she should seek out a publisher. The Lord opened the door and A Jesus Kinda Day was created. Her prayer is that this devotional brings you encouragement, joy and healing in the Lord. May you have “A Jesus kinda day” every day.

Download or read book The Case for Jesus written by Brant Pitre and published by Image. This book was released on 2016-02-02 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “This book will prove to be a most effective weapon… against the debunking and skeptical attitudes toward the Gospels that are so prevalent, not only in academe, but also on the street, among young people who, sadly, are leaving the Churches in droves.” – Robert Barron, author of Catholicism For well over a hundred years now, many scholars have questioned the historical truth of the Gospels, claiming that they were originally anonymous. Others have even argued that Jesus of Nazareth did not think he was God and never claimed to be divine. In The Case for Jesus, Dr. Brant Pitre, the bestselling author of Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist, goes back to the sources—the biblical and historical evidence for Christ—in order to answer several key questions, including: • Were the four Gospels really anonymous? • Are the Gospels folklore? Or are they biographies? • Were the four Gospels written too late to be reliable? • What about the so-called “Lost Gospels,” such as “Q” and the Gospel of Thomas? • Did Jesus claim to be God? • Is Jesus divine in all four Gospels? Or only in John? • Did Jesus fulfill the Jewish prophecies of the Messiah? • Why was Jesus crucified? • What is the evidence for the Resurrection? As The Case for Jesus will show, recent discoveries in New Testament scholarship, as well as neglected evidence from ancient manuscripts and the early church fathers, together have the potential to pull the rug out from under a century of skepticism toward the traditional Gospels. Above all, Pitre shows how the divine claims of Jesus of Nazareth can only be understood by putting them in their ancient Jewish context.

Each day's entry includes a focus point and that point is emphasized and supported by specific citations from The Bible. The author hopes to invite the reader to explore different aspects of their life, and to find meaning and support for that exploration through God's words. Each day is structured with a thought starter, and at least one Bible reference to support the idea that this thought starter is not unique, but rather something that originates from God's words. The format of this manuscript is engaging. The daily entries give the reader a new thought to ponder each day. The inclusion of a Bible citation further solidifies the importance of that thought, and gives the reader the motivation to think deeply about that prompt, as well as feel comfort knowing that God's words support this thought.

Book From Stage Iv to Center Stage

Download or read book From Stage Iv to Center Stage written by Denise DeSimone and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2011-08-01 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Stage IV to Center Stage is a story of extraordinary courage, strength, and deep spirituality. Denise DeSimones journey began the moment she opened her eyes in a post-op ward after a routine biopsy to determine the pathology of the lump on her neck and was told, You have cancer. A very aggressive cancer in your throat and neck, and you need to move on this immediately. Given three months to live because of stage IV throat and neck cancer (August 2005), to singing the National Anthem before a Red Sox game at Fenway Park in Boston (July 2007), to riding her bicycle eighty-five miles in one day to raise money for childrens cancer research with the Pan Mass Challenge (August 2007) all in less than two years is proof that the unexpected can be achieved. Denise approached cancer differently than most people do. She chose not to battle, cancer; she chose to embrace it and allow it to become her teacher and her sage. Naming her cancer PINan acronym for Pain in the Neck, Denise entered into a dialogue with PIN, gave it a pen, and gave it permission to teach her the lessons she needed to learn. The lessons were rich and enlightening. She learned something deeply critical to healing: self-love. When we love ourselves, we dont want to battle anything. When we love ourselves, we allow our vibration to attract life at a higher frequency: a frequency that promotes healing on all levelsemotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Denise learned that self love is the all-time greatest healer.
