Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numbers are everywhere. Some are man-made—addresses, telephone numbers, and dates. Others are God-given—the speed of light, the strength of gravity, and the distance between the earth and sun. Pythagoras (570 BC - c. 495 BC), the father of Western philosophy, believed that numbers formed the foundation of the universe. He recognized that numbers have both a quantitative and a qualitative nature. The Pythagoreans discovered that all things can be understood by the qualitative nature of the numbers associated with their vibratory frequencies. Pythagorean numerology provides an elegant yet simple method for discovering the essential characteristics of any person, place, thing, event, or process, whether in the present, past, or future.Numerology is a self-help tool that can be used to gain insights into your character and personality. It describes the patterns and cycles that underlie the events of your life. It reveals your strengths and weaknesses as they ebb and flow throughout your life. It provides insights into the psychological dilemmas, the karmic lessons, and the spiritual meanings at each point of your journey.

Book The Harmonic Origins of the World

Download or read book The Harmonic Origins of the World written by Richard Heath and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2018-03-20 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A profound exploration of the simple numerical ratios that underlie our solar system, its musical harmony, and our earliest religious beliefs • Reveals how the orbits of Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus relate to the Moon and the inner planets as an octave with musical scales • Explores how this harmonic planetary knowledge was encoded within ancient monuments and temples then spread within oral traditions • Explains how the solar system functions as a musical instrument and how this led to the rise of intelligent life, civilization, and culture on our planet As modern humans first walked the Earth roughly 70,000 years ago, the Moon’s orbit came into harmonic resonance with the outer planets of Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus. The common denominators underlying these harmonic relationships are the earliest prime numbers of the Fibonacci series--two, three, and five--the same numbers that interact to give us the harmonic relationships of music. Exploring the simple mathematical relationships that underlie the cycles of the solar system and the music of Earth, Richard Heath reveals how Neolithic astronomers discovered these ratios using megalithic monuments like Stonehenge and the Carnac stones, discoveries that informed later myths and stories including the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Resurrection of Osiris, the Rg Veda, the Hebrew Bible, Homer’s epic tales, and the Return of Quetzalcoatl. He explains how this harmonic planetary knowledge formed the basis of the earliest religious systems, in which planets were seen as gods, and shows how they spread through Sumer, Egypt, and India into Babylon, Judea, Mexico, and archaic Greece. He exposes how the secret knowledge encoded within the Bible’s god YHWH was lost as Greek logic and reason steadily weakened mythological beliefs. Revealing the mysteries of the octave and of our musical scales, Heath shows how the orbits of the outer and inner planets gave a structure to time, which our Moon’s orbit could then turn into a harmonic matrix. He explains how planetary time came to function as a finely tuned musical instrument, leading to the rise of intelligent life on our planet. He demonstrates how this harmonic science of numbers can be read in the secret symbolism and sacred geometry of ancient cities such as Teotihuacan and in temples such as the Parthenon, connecting the higher worlds of planetary time and harmonics with the spiritual and physical life on Earth. Recasting our understanding of the solar system, Heath seeks to reawaken humanity’s understanding of how sacred numbers structure reality, offering an opportunity to recover this lost harmonic doctrine and reclaim our intended role in the outer life of our planet.

Book Tuning the Mind

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ruth HaCohen
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2017-10-19
  • ISBN : 135132554X
  • Pages : 333 pages

Download or read book Tuning the Mind written by Ruth HaCohen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-19 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Starting from the late Renaissance, efforts to make vocal music more expressive heightened the power of words, which, in turn, gave birth to the modern semantics of musical expression. As the skepticism of seventeenth-century science divorced the acoustic properties from the metaphysical qualities of music, the door was opened to dicern the rich links between musical perception and varied mental faculties. In Tuning the Mind, Ruth Katz and Ruth HaCohen trace how eighteenth century theoreticians of music examined anew the role of the arts within a general theory of knowledge. As the authors note, the differences between the physical and emotional dimensions of music stimulated novel conceptions and empirical inquiries into the old aesthetic queries. Tracing this development, their opening chapter deals with seventeenth-century epistemological issues concerning the artistic qualities of music. Katz and HaCohen show that painting and literature displayed a comparable tendency toward "musicalization," whereby the dynamic of forms-the modalities specific to each artistic medium-rather than subject matter was believed to determine expression. Katz and HaCohen explore the ambiguities inherent in idealization of an art form whose mimetic function has always been problematic. They discuss the major outlines of this development, from Descartes to Vico through Condillac. Particular emphasis is placed on eighteenth-century British thinkers, from Shaftesbury to Adam Smith, who perceived these problems in their full complexity. They also explore how the French and the Germans dealt differently with questions that preoccupied the British, each nation in accordance with their own past tradition and tendencies. The concluding chapter summarizes the parallel development of abstract art and basic hypotheses concerning the mind and explores basic theoretical questions pertaining to the relationship between perception and cognition. In addressing some of the most complex problems in musical aesthetics, Katz and HaCohen provide a unique historical perspective on the ways their art creates and develops coherent worlds, and, in so doing, contribute to our understanding of the workings of the mind.

Book Excursions in Classical Analysis

Download or read book Excursions in Classical Analysis written by Hongwei Chen and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2010-12-31 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excursions in Classical Analysis will introduce students to advanced problem solving and undergraduate research in two ways: it will provide a tour of classical analysis, showcasing a wide variety of problems that are placed in historical context, and it will help students gain mastery of mathematical discovery and proof. The [Author]; presents a variety of solutions for the problems in the book. Some solutions reach back to the work of mathematicians like Leonhard Euler while others connect to other beautiful parts of mathematics. Readers will frequently see problems solved by using an idea that, at first glance, might not even seem to apply to that problem. Other solutions employ a specific technique that can be used to solve many different kinds of problems. Excursions emphasizes the rich and elegant interplay between continuous and discrete mathematics by applying induction, recursion, and combinatorics to traditional problems in classical analysis. The book will be useful in students' preparations for mathematics competitions, in undergraduate reading courses and seminars, and in analysis courses as a supplement. The book is also ideal for self study, since the chapters are independent of one another and may be read in any order.
