It takes the novice mathematical reader from the rudiments of harmonic analysis (Fourier series) to the Fourier transform, pseudodifferential operators, and finally to Heisenberg analysis.

Book Starting with the Unit Circle

Download or read book Starting with the Unit Circle written by L.-K. Hua and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is with great pleasure that I am writing the preface for my little book, "Starting with the Unit Circle", in the office of Springer Verlag in Heidel berg. This is symbolic of the fact that I have once again joined in the main stream of scientific exchange between East and West. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, I have written "An Introduction to Number Theory" for the young people studying Number Theory: for the young people studying algebra, Prof. Wan Zhe-xian (Wan Che-hsien) and I have written "Classical Groups"; for those studying the theory of functions of several complex variables, I have written "Har monic Analysis of Functions of Several Complex Variables in the Classical Domains", * and for university students I have written "Introduction to Higher Mathematics". The present volume had been written for those who were beginning to engage in research at the Chinese University of Science and Technology and at the Guangdong Zhongshan University. Its purpose is none other than to make the students see the crucial ideas in their simplest manifestations, so that when they go on to the more complex parts of modem mathematics, they will not be without guidance. For example, in the first chapter when I point out that the Poisson kernel is just the Jacobian of some transformation, I am merely revealing the source of one of the main tools in my work on harmonic analysis in the classical domains.

Book Complex Analysis Harmonic Analysis and Applications

Download or read book Complex Analysis Harmonic Analysis and Applications written by Robert Deville and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-04-30 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multivariable complex analysis and harmonic analysis provide efficient techniques to study many applied mathematical problems. The main objective of a conference held in Bordeaux in June 1995, in honour of Professor Roger Gay, was to connect these mathematical fields with some of their applications. This was also the guideline for the fourteen contributions collected in this volume. Besides presenting new results, each speaker made a substantial effort in order to present an up to date survey of his field of research. All the subjects presented here are very active domains of research: integral geometry (with its relation to X-ray tomography), classical harmonic analysis and orthogonal polynomials, pluricomplex potential theory (with its deep connection with polynomial approximation), complex analytic methods in the theory of partial differentiable operators with constant coefficients (in the spirit of those initiated by Leon Ehrenpreis), Calderon-Zygmund operators and nonlinear operators, oscillatory integrals and resonance, and finally multivariable residue theory in its most recent developments. It is hoped that the reader will find enough insight in the different survey papers presented here to become involved with one of these subjects or to pursue further applications.

Book Harmonic Analysis in China

Download or read book Harmonic Analysis in China written by Minde Cheng and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Harmonic Analysis in China is a collection of surveys and research papers written by distinguished Chinese mathematicians from within the People's Republic of China and expatriates. The book covers topics in analytic function spaces of several complex variables, integral transforms, harmonic analysis on classical Lie groups and manifolds, LP- estimates of the Cauchy-Riemann equations and wavelet transforms. The reader will also be able to trace the great influence of the late Professor Loo-keng Hua's ideas and methods on research into harmonic analysis on classical domains and the theory of functions of several complex variables. Western scientists will thus become acquainted with the unique features and future trends of harmonic analysis in China. Audience: Analysts, as well as engineers and physicists who use harmonic analysis.

Book Harmonic Analysis and Boundary Value Problems in the Complex Domain

Download or read book Harmonic Analysis and Boundary Value Problems in the Complex Domain written by M.M. Djrbashian and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As is well known, the first decades of this century were a period of elaboration of new methods in complex analysis. This elaboration had, in particular, one char acteristic feature, consisting in the interfusion of some concepts and methods of harmonic and complex analyses. That interfusion turned out to have great advan tages and gave rise to a vast number of significant results, of which we want to mention especially the classical results on the theory of Fourier series in L2 ( -7r, 7r) and their continual analog - Plancherel's theorem on the Fourier transform in L2 ( -00, +00). We want to note also two important Wiener and Paley theorems on parametric integral representations of a subclass of entire functions of expo nential type in the Hardy space H2 over a half-plane. Being under the strong influence of these results, the author began in the fifties a series of investigations in the theory of integral representations of analytic and entire functions as well as in the theory of harmonic analysis in the com plex domain. These investigations were based on the remarkable properties of the asymptotics of the entire function (p, J1 > 0), which was introduced into mathematical analysis by Mittag-Leffler for the case J1 = 1. In the process of investigation, the scope of some classical results was essentially enlarged, and the results themselves were evaluated.

Book Several Complex Variables

Download or read book Several Complex Variables written by KOHN and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years there has been increasing interaction among various branches of mathematics. This is especially evident in the theory of several complex variables where fruitful interplays of the methods of algebraic geometry, differential geometry, and partial differential equations have led to unexpected insights and new directions of research. In China there has been a long tradition of study in complex analysis, differential geometry and differential equations as interrelated subjects due to the influence of Professors S. S. Chern and L. K. Hua. After a long period of isolation, in recent years there is a resurgence of scientific activity and a resumption of scientific exchange with other countries. The Hangzhou conference is the first international conference in several complex variables held in China. It offered a good opportunity for mathematicians from China, U.S., Germany, Japan, Canada, and France to meet and to discuss their work. The papers presented in the conference encompass all major aspects of several complex variables, in particular, in such areas as complex differential geometry, integral representation, boundary behavior of holomorphic functions, invariant metrics, holomorphic vector bundles, and pseudoconvexity. Most of the participants wrote up their talks for these proceedings. Some of the papers are surveys and the others present original results. This volume constitutes an overview of the current trends of research in several complex variables.
