It's exciting to hear the shouts: "Trick or treat!" and even more fun to give out candy with this Halloween treat. The candy you get this year may be really sweet, but even sweeter than candy is knowing how much God loves you! God thinks you're great just the way you are with freckles or warts or braces or crazy hair, it doesn't matter. God thinks you're so special that he sent his Son, Jesus, to give you a wonderful gift. The Bible calls this amazing gift eternal life, or life that lasts forever. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16. Don't let anyone trick you into thinking you have to be extra good so that God will love you and let you into heaven one day. None of us can be good enough to earn God's love. All of us do bad things (sin) like telling lies, think-ing bad thoughts, or hurting other people. Our bad behavior pushes us away from God and we deserve to be punished. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23. But Jesus took our place and was punished for us when he died on the cross and rose again. That's how much he loves you. The Bible says: "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses (sins), made us alive together with Christ..." Ephesians 2:4,5. You know the candy people give you at Halloween? If you didn't accept it, it wouldn't be yours. The same is true with God's great gift of forgiveness and eternal life. You have to accept his gift. That means, ask Jesus to forgive you for the bad things you've done, and be-lieve that he died for you and rose to heaven to take away your sin. "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23. If you want God's amazing gift of eternal life, then say a prayer like this: God, I'm sorry I do bad things. Please forgive me. I believe your only Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross and rose again to take away my sins. Thank you for loving me so much and giving me your gift of eternal life. Amen!

Nuestro mal comportamiento nos aleja de Dios y merecemos ser castigados. "Por cuanto todos pecaron y no alcanzan la gloria de Dios" Romanos 3:23. Pero JesUs tomO nuestro lugar y fue castigado por nosotros cuando muriO en la cruz y resucitO. Eso es lo mucho que te ama. La Biblia dice: "Pero Dios, que es rico en misericordia, por causa del gran amor con que nos amO, aun cuando estAbamos muertos en nuestros delitos, nos dio vida juntamente con Cristo (por gracia habEis sido salvados)" Efesios 2:4-5. Sabes que los dulces que la gente te regala en Halloween no son tuyos si no los aceptas? Es igual con el gran regalo que Dios te ofrece del perdOn y vida eterna. Tienes que aceptar su regalo. Lo aceptas cuando le pides a JesUs que te perdone por todas las cosas malas que has hecho, y crees que muriO por ti y resucitO y subiO al cielo para limpiarte de tus pecados. "Porque la paga del pecado es muerte, pero la dAdiva de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo JesUs SeNor nuestro" Romanos 6:23. Si quieres el gran regalo de la vida eterna que Dios te ofrece, recita una oraciOn como Esta: Dios, lamento haber hecho cosas malas. Por favor perdOname. What about that feeling you get when you're walking up to a front door, and you're so excited just trying to guess what kind of treat you're going to get next? Candy is a fun treat, but did you ever notice that it doesn't last very long? Did you know that there is a treat that lasts forever? It's a special treat that God gave us, just because He loves us so much. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Who was this only Son? He was Jesus Christ, God's Son whom He sent from Heaven. Jesus was perfect and sinless. That means He never did anything wrong. He could do amazing things, like heal the sick and make blind people see again. He taught people to love God and each other. Jesus did only good things during His time on earth. We are not perfect or sinless. We all sin--that means we do bad things, like tell lies or treat other people badly. No matter how much we try to do good things all the time, God knows that we are not perfect. He knows that we are not good enough to enter Heaven on our own, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). So, because Jesus loves us so much, He suffered and died on a cross as a way to take our punishment in our place. Three days after Jesus died, God raised Him to life again. He lives now in Heaven, and if you accept Him as your Savior, you can get a new life too and live there with Him forever. That is the treat from God--the wonderful treat that is free to anyone who knocks on His door! All you have to do is accept Jesus by saying a prayer like this: Dear Jesus, thank You for loving me so much that You died for me. I am sorry for my sins and ask You to forgive me. Please come into my life and help me to live for You. Amen.
