"My Special Prayer" was written when I was at my first church camp. I was eight years old. "If We Had Peace" was written at age twelve. The rest were written when with my grandparents in the summer on a lake in Michigan, school assignments, and just being with God in many situations. My walk with God began in Kalamazoo, Michigan, at age three. God and I have held hands and walked together throughout my sixty-four years. I've known Him since before I knew how to pray.

Book excerpt: MEET MRS GREEN – GOOD COOK, EVIL POISONER When Mrs Green entered domestic service as a cook in the 1920s, she had no idea she was going to end up as a convicted criminal. Anyone who personally knew her was convinced she was innocent. But when a German diplomat dropped down dead after attending a dinner party she'd cooked for, suspicions were raised. The fact that she had a Jewish background counted against her. Had she poisoned him? It was now a time of political tensions in Europe and the authorities were quick to act. A conniving British politician leads the way. Either prosecute Mrs Green or risk offending the Germans and starting a war! Unfortunately, there were just too many powerful people ranged against her. A miscarriage of justice and a guilty verdict seals her fate. Somehow, she will have to find a way out of her terrible predicament. But three questions remained: What was the butler up to? Was Mrs Green really as innocent as she claimed to be? And who was the mysterious person she kept writing to?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Reflections in Poetry" Reflections in Poetry was first thought about when I was working down in the Gulf of Mexico. Twelve hours a day five days a week I use to write during my lunch break or back at the motel. I put together some material in a legal pad and left everything in the Motel under the mattress. When I relocated back to Sumter, SC it was very hard getting started, with so many things on my mind. I asked God to give me the peace of mind that I needed to put my thoughts on paper. I stayed up one night until four in the morning writing. I needed that to get a lot of stuff off my chest and off my mind. I really enjoyed putting Reflections in Poetry together, it reflects on those that have passed on good people whose memories I'll always treasure and will never forget. Friends that I met over the years our paths crossed and we connected platonically. They inspired me in their own unique way to write about them in poetry. Reflections in Poetry are collections of treasured thoughts from my heart to yours. Enjoy Glenndell Chatmon

Book The Kennedy Women

Download or read book The Kennedy Women written by Laurence Leamer and published by Ballantine Books. This book was released on 1996-09-29 with total page 994 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A FRESH AND UNVARNISHED PORTRAIT OF A FASCINATING, TALENTED, AND DEEPLY FLAWED FAMILY." —Boston Herald Laurence Leamer was granted unheralded access to private Kennedy papers, and he interviewed family and old friends, many of whom had never been interviewed before, for this incredible portrait of the women in America’s "royal family." From Bridget Murphy, the foremother who touched shore at East Boston in 1849, to the intelligent, independent Kennedy women of today, Laurence Leamer tells their unforgettable stories. Here are the private thoughts of Kathleen, the flirtatious debutante in prewar England . . . the truth behind Joe Kennedy’s insistence that his mildly retarded daughter, Rosemary, be lobotomized . . . the real story behind Joan and Ted’s whirlwind romance . . . Jackie’s desire for a divorce from JFK in the 1950s . . . Pat Lawford’s disastrous Hollywood marriage . . . how Caroline discovered her cousin David’s death by overdose, and more. Tough enough to withstand the unimaginable, these Kennedy women soldier on in the name of their extraordinary family and what they believe is right. "MASTERFUL . . . AN ENDLESSLY FASCINATING READ . . . A wealth of beautifully rendered social detail, at times reading like a realist novel by Edith Wharton . . . [A] page-turner from start to finish." —The Dallas Morning News

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My name is Ruth Carolyn Spies-Laudon. Born in 1949 to Bud and Flossie Spies (Wayne and Florence) and I have one sibling, Danny Spies. I lived in a berg called Hinton, Iowa with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. I graduated from college with a major in Spanish, minors in Psychology and Sociology with 10 hours in Christian religious classes. I have been married to my soul mate and husband for 32 years. We have no children but we have many nieces and nephews, and now many many great nieces and nephews which have blessed our lives. I have written some poetry as a child and through the years but in March 2005 I was anointed by the Lord to write Christian poetry (some whimsical) and have written over 400 poems. I’ve selected what I felt were the best in this book, Reflections of Ruth. I enjoy writing poetry and I really feel that I am the liaison between God and the paper that people read. I also immensely enjoy taking pictures of natures' rainbows, trees, flowers, lakes, barns, people — everything. I then collage my poetry with my photography as presents to friends and family. May all who read the pages of this book find that they are loved by our Heavenly Father. I find it soothing to be able to write about the Lord and all the blessings He has bestowed upon me.
