Book Wavelength Standards in the Infrared

Download or read book Wavelength Standards in the Infrared written by K.N. Rao and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wavelength Standards in the Infrared is a compilation of wavelength standards suitable for use with high-resolution infrared spectrographs, including both emission and absorption standards. The book presents atomic line emission standards of argon, krypton, neon, and xenon. These atomic line emission standards are from the deliberations of Commission 14 of the International Astronomical Union, which is the recognized authority for such standards. The text also explains the techniques employed in determining spectral positions in the infrared. One of the techniques used includes the grating constant method of determining spectral positions which measures the angular rotation of the grating. Another technique used is the modern gratings and high resolution infrared spectra which has made it possible to obtain narrower spectral lines. Computers can expedite the processing of observed data. Fraley and Rao have developed a procedure for data, obtained using double-pen recorders. The technique involves using visible neon lines to produce a wave number scale on the infrared spectra that is to be measured. This book can prove valuable to researchers and scientists working in the field of molecular, nuclear or atomic physics.

Download or read book Infrared Band Handbook written by Herman A. Szymanski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 1504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook includes all the data of the first edition and its supple ments and sufficient additional material to nearly double the total number of entries. It is hoped that enough entries are now given to represent most structural groups and environments. Infrared spectroscopy as a tool for the identification of compounds can be used in conjunction with other methods, such as NMR and UV spectros copy, or alone to quickly establish the presence or absence of particular structural groups. Computer search techniques can be applied to infrared data for the identification of unknowns, but the time required for the analysis will be substantial. These volumes will best serve those who wish to locate infrared data quickly and without recourse to instruments or related equipment. Typical applications in which the Handbook can best be utilized follow. 1. Searching a specific wavelength region for samples of compounds having absorption bands in that region, and relating this information to the compound under study. 2. Assigning vibrations for a compound by noting assignments for similar compounds. 3. Obtaining literature references. 4. Obtaining optimum sample conditions for determining the spectrum of a compound. 5. Identifying an unknown where data are not readily available. 6. Locating literature data on band positions, including references where only one band position is reported. 7. Enlarging present data files, including computer tapes. 8. Browsing through as many data as one wishes. Other mechanical or computer sources often yield too many data.

Book Handbook of High Resolution Infrared Laboratory Spectra of Atmospheric Interest 1981

Download or read book Handbook of High Resolution Infrared Laboratory Spectra of Atmospheric Interest 1981 written by Aaron Goldman and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The handbook presents spectra to be utilized for the detection and measurement of new constituents in the earth's atmosphere and to obtain data for common minor species with large gas amounts in the absorption cell (such as CH/sub 4/ and N/sub 2/O). These results can be applied in the identification of absorption features in atmospheric spectra determined over long atmospheric paths. The spectra were recorded with Fourier Transform Spectrometers which are more precise than grating spectrometers. Each molecule spectrum was plotted on two scales: a condensed scale covering the range from 75 to 300/cm in one frame, and an expanded view covering 20 or 10/cm per frame. Each plot contains the name of the molecule, chemical formula, the gas pressure, cell length, and estimated resolution of the spectrum.
