Book Fundamentals of Microfabrication and Nanotechnology Third Edition Three Volume Set

Download or read book Fundamentals of Microfabrication and Nanotechnology Third Edition Three Volume Set written by Marc J. Madou and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2011-08-01 with total page 1992 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in its third edition, Fundamentals of Microfabrication and Nanotechnology continues to provide the most complete MEMS coverage available. Thoroughly revised and updated the new edition of this perennial bestseller has been expanded to three volumes, reflecting the substantial growth of this field. It includes a wealth of theoretical and practical information on nanotechnology and NEMS and offers background and comprehensive information on materials, processes, and manufacturing options. The first volume offers a rigorous theoretical treatment of micro- and nanosciences, and includes sections on solid-state physics, quantum mechanics, crystallography, and fluidics. The second volume presents a very large set of manufacturing techniques for micro- and nanofabrication and covers different forms of lithography, material removal processes, and additive technologies. The third volume focuses on manufacturing techniques and applications of Bio-MEMS and Bio-NEMS. Illustrated in color throughout, this seminal work is a cogent instructional text, providing classroom and self-learners with worked-out examples and end-of-chapter problems. The author characterizes and defines major research areas and illustrates them with examples pulled from the most recent literature and from his own work.

Book Human Developmental Biology

Download or read book Human Developmental Biology written by Danton O'Day and published by eBookIt.com. This book was released on 2012-09 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, early human development is covered from the formation of eggs and sperm through fertilization. It then progresses to the events that lead to the formation of tissues and organs in the embryo and fetus. The book is designed to give the reader an in-depth understanding of how development progresses by focusing on the central issues involved in the differentiation and morphogenesis of cells, tissues and organs. In addition to the fundamental topics of developmental biology, current issues such as artificial reproductive technologies are discussed. Developmental problems are also covered including Down syndrome, immotile cilia syndrome, spina bifida, fetal alcohol syndrome and the effects of thalidomide, to name a few. This book is written in an easy to read style with lots of relevant examples and over 150 original full color figures. It is designed to meet the needs of students world-wide who want an accurate, informative and inexpensive book on human developmental biology. The book is suitable for use as a course textbook or as supplementary reading to help students understand how humans develop. Anyone who has taken a biology course will also find this book an enjoyable read, allowing them to update their understanding of current biomedical issues that make the news.

Download or read book Human Growth written by F. Falkner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 679 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growth, as we conceive it, is the study of change in an organism not yet mature. Differential growth creates form: external form through growth rates which vary from one part of the body to another and one tissue to another; and internal form through the series of time-entrained events which build up in each cell the special ized complexity of its particular function. We make no distinction, then, between growth and development, and if we have not included accounts of differentiation it is simply because we had to draw a quite arbitrary line somewhere. It is only rather recently that those involved in pediatrics and child health have come to realize that growth is the basic science peculiar to their art. It is a science which uses and incorporates the traditional disciplines of anatomy, physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, and biology. It is indeed a part of biology, and the study of human growth is a part of the curriculum of the rejuvenated science of Human Biology. What growth is not is a series of charts of height and weight. Growth standards are useful and necessary, and their construction is by no means void of intellectual challenge. They are a basic instrument in pediatric epidemiology. But they do not appear in this book, any more than clinical accounts of growth disorders. This appears to be the first large handbook-in three volumes-devoted to Human Growth.
