Book Hand Letter Doodle Pray Workbook

Download or read book Hand Letter Doodle Pray Workbook written by Christie Daugherty and published by . This book was released on 2020-09-04 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hi, I'm Christie. Thanks for purchasing my 2nd lettering and doodle workbook. It has been so much fun to design these pages and I'm blessed to be able to share my passion with you. I named the book "Hand letter, doodle and pray," because that is how I grow closer to God. Sometimes., I hand letter my prayers. I doodle during church. In fact, that's the best way for me to pay attention. If I'm not writing and drawing what the pastor is saying, I'm probably wondering where Suzy got her dress or what sounds good for lunch.I never planned on teaching hand lettering. When I was asked by a friend to teach a class my first thought was, "I don't know how to teach lettering!" But I do know God made me a teacher. Just ask the neighborhood kids while I was growing up. If they didn't show up to my classroom in the woods, they would be scolded. You see, back in the 1970's, playing outside is what you did. And making a fort "classroom" in the woods was totally normal. Later I grew up to be a real elementary teacher and guess what I loved teaching them! Our classes were integrated and there was no art program so guess what Mrs. Daugherty did!?! She (as in me) taught art in EVERY subject. It was amazing!God also made me creative. He designed me to love color, design and textures, oh my! I'm smiling just thinking about it. And the more colorful, the better. But touches of black and white finish off any design and tends to ground it. I love polka dots, plaids, leopard, stripes and all the things. Not only did God make me a teacher and creative, but He gave me a passion for people. I love people. Yes, even the difficult ones. Don't get me wrong, I do have boundaries, but everyone deserves to be loved. And I especially love to help people find themselves in the process of creating art. It can be so healing and freeing.I believe that everyone is an artist. God made us that way. However, not everyone has the confidence or interest to create. And it's my goal is to teach, encourage and inspire people to at least give it a try.I know you can learn to hand letter. It doesn't matter if you are left-handed or have messy handwriting. Lettering is more about the process. I believe that when you hand letter something, it sticks. For example, writing scripture from the Bible helps me memorize it and keeps me thinking positive.Yes, writing pretty is part of the goal in lettering but it's not everything. So the first thing I'm going to ask you to do, is let go of your perfectionisms. How much fun can lettering be when you are worried about the tiniest mistake? In that case, you might as well give up now because it's never going to be perfect. If you want to get really good at lettering you must practice. Think about anyone that is good at anything. How do they get that way? They put a lot of work into it.

Pray asking God to reveal something new about this name. Then you'll have a chance to journal those thoughts. Whether you need: Love, Wisdom, Comfort, Peace, A friend, Provision, Healing, ... or anything else, you will find a Name that meets that need. You will experience the richest intimate relationship with God than you ever experienced. On page 22, you'll be introduced to God the Advocate. Pray and ask God to reveal something new. On page 56, you'll be introduced to God of All Hope. As you read the scripture and meditate on His name, you'll be asked to journal a few questions: What does God of All Hope mean to you? What situation do you need the God of All Hope? Book Praying in Color Drawing a New Path to God

Download or read book Praying in Color Drawing a New Path to God written by Sybil MacBeth and published by Paraclete Press. This book was released on 2019-12-16 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Just as Julia Cameron in The Artist’s Way showed the hardened Harvard businessman he had a creative artist lurking within, MacBeth makes it astonishingly clear that anyone with a box of colors and some paper can have a conversation with God.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review Maybe you love color. Maybe you are a visual or kinesthetic learner, a distractible or impatient soul, or a word-weary pray-er. Perhaps you struggle with a short attention span, a restless body, or a tendency to live in your head. Maybe your prayers feel more like a list for Santa Claus than a love letter to God, or you’re just bored with the same old prayers you’ve said since you were a toddler. Maybe you’re not sure that anyone out there is listening, or you just feel deep in your bones a hunger to know God better. The prayer practice Praying in Color® was born when Sybil's desperation to pray for family and friends intersected with her love of color and doodling. Praying in Color® invites the whole body into prayer and gives you a new way to be with God. This revised, expanded edition of the bestselling, groundbreaking book: Presents double the wisdom and insight from Sybil MacBeth, from fifteen years of experience praying, teaching, and leading workshops Includes a foreword by Lauren F. Winner, author of Girl Meets God Brings a sense of fun and delight into prayer time Gathers our mind, body, emotions, thoughts, and spirit into the same space for a while Is ideal for praying on your own or in small groups, church fellowships, hospital rooms, university classrooms, prison ministry, elementary schools, and so much more. Sections of the book include: Disgruntled Prayers Praying Your To-Do List Praying for Our Enemies Hodgepodge Prayers Twelve-Step Prayers Praying with Scripture Praying the Liturgical Year Praying in Community Sending and Sharing Prayers And so much more. More than 150,000 people have discovered a delightful way to pray with the right side of the brain. Praying in Color has forever changed the way people pray—and will change your life, too. “It would not be an overstatement to say that Praying in Color rescued my devotional life from nonexistence. . . . I’ve given away more copies of this book than I can count.” —Lauren F. Winner

Book 26 Ways to Pray the Alphabet

Download or read book 26 Ways to Pray the Alphabet written by Lisa Nichols Hickman and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2014-10-07 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Mercy & Melons, each letter of the alphabet calls forth two words: a word that celebrates an ordinary thing, and another word that names a holy quality about God. Those pairings speak to each other. For those who pay attention to those pairings, they discover something about prayer and about God. This companion guide to Mercy & Melons offers a practical guide to living and exploring and praying those pairings in our daily life--as we look for beauty and hope in the “ordinary” things around us. Each of the 26 chapters focuses on four ways to explore those pairings: Ask Practice Implement Center “Praying the alphabet allows us to be thorough in our prayers because each letter conjures up something we might not otherwise have remembered: mercy, melons. Suddenly, we can taste both.” Use this companion along with Mercy & Melons or as its own guide to prayer, for a retreat, for Lent, or any time you want to explore praying in new ways.

When a girl finds a fallen star, she decides to keep it hidden. But this star encourages kindness and needs to shine, so it comes out from the shadows. At first the glow from the star starts to fade, and the girl worries--maybe she's not a very good starkeeper. Then a chance gesture of kindness seems to brighten the star, and soon this kindness leads to a chain of good works that light up the once-dreary town. The art of the book follows the star's journey and lights up more and more with each act of kindness.
