Book Hand Book of Casinghead Gas Classic Reprint

Download or read book Hand Book of Casinghead Gas Classic Reprint written by Henry P. Westcott and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-09 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Hand Book of Casinghead Gas The extraction of gasoline from Casinghead Gas has grown to be a business of importance. From its inception in 1900 to 1914, little progress was made, but since that time the industry has grown to be nearly equal to that of the Natural Gas Industry. Since the publication of the Hand Book of Casinghead Gas in 1918, there have not been many radical changes in the method of extraction of gasoline from Casinghead Gas, but there have been many minor improvements. In continuing the publication of this book the author is constantly endeavoring to condense such tables necessary to the work so as to permit the use of any new material brought out in the business. It has always been our aim to publish all the essential information on the subject in a book of convenient size for the man in the field. We desire to thank personally Mr. John C. Diehl who has been closely associated with the author, together with many others who have in a large way assisted in furnishing the material. This book was released on 2016-09-27 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Waste and Correct Use of Natural Gas in the Home Much has been said by the Bureau of Mines and by others about the criminal waste of natural gas that is taking place in our gas fields. Natural gas, one of the most valuable mineral assets of the country, has been permitted to dissipate in such a manner that the public has derived relatively small value from it. In recent years the public has demanded that efforts be made to minimize this waste. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book A Handbook of the Petroleum Industry Vol 1 of 2 Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Handbook of the Petroleum Industry Vol 1 of 2 Classic Reprint written by David T. Day and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 982 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Handbook of the Petroleum Industry, Vol. 1 of 2 Wherever petroleum occurs in nature, natural gas is generally found in the same locality or region. Gas, however, is less restricted in its distribution than is oil, and numerous gas pools exist where no petroleum occurs in close proximity. Because of the relationship of natural gas to petroleum, the two substances must, to a consider able extent, be considered together. Both petroleum and natural gas are among the great industrial resources of the world and the countries which possess them in large quantities are exceedingly fortunate. The fact that these substances have not yet been developed in a particular locality is rarely proof of their absence, as no year passes without the discovery of new and often unsuspected fields or pools. The occurrence of oil and gas is widespread, no stratified rock being so young, and scarcely any so old, as absolutely to preclude their existence. Consequently, any country in which geological conditions are favorable is warranted in exerting every effort and undertaking great expense to investigate and determine its resources in petroleum and natural gas. In this outline of the occurrence of petroleum the numerous references made use of are given credit where possible. In addition to those specifically mentioned there are certain general sources of information, such as the report of S. F. Peckham entitled, The Production, Technology and Uses of Petroleum and its Products, in volume 10 Of the Tenth Census of the United States, 1880, pages 1-319' A Treatise on Petroleum by Sir Boverton Redwood, London, 1913, three volumes; Petroleum Mining and Oil Field Development, by Arthur Beeby Thompson, London, 1916, 648 pages; the annual statis tical reports in the Mineral Resources series of the United States Geological Survey, by David T. Day, S. H. Shotwell, Joseph D. Weeks, F. H. Oliphant, W. T. Griswold and John D. Northrop, and many other Geological Survey references of a general nature. In this chapter the word oil is frequently used as being sufficiently synonymous with petroleum for the subject matter in hand. Book The Gas Engineer s Laboratory Handbook Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Gas Engineer s Laboratory Handbook Classic Reprint written by John Hornby and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-24 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Gas Engineer's Laboratory Handbook The object of this volume, as its title implies, is to describe the various analytical operations which are required in Gas works. In order to make it useful to those who may not have the Opportunity of access to other works on analysis, the general operations incidental to the carrying out of analytical operations are described in detail, and further, as a means of assisting those who are dependent on self study, the methods of analysing certain substances obtainable in a perfectly pure state, and consequently having an established composition, are minutely described; these examples are chosen, as being typical of the more commonly occurring analyses required in Gasworks, as they involve the same methods of manipulation. By comparing the results obtained in the analysis of these simple substances with the figures demanded by theory, the operator can satisfy himself as to his competency to perform the same operations when they occur in the estimations required in his daily work. For example, the analysis of barium chloride serves as a type of the methods of manipulation necessary in the determination of sulphur in coal, coke, and gas, and in ascertaining the accuracy of the solutions employed in the Referees' Ammonia Test, &0. The estimation of calcium serves as a type of the analysis of lime; and so on. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Conservation of Natural Gas in Kentucky Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Conservation of Natural Gas in Kentucky Classic Reprint written by Willard Rouse Jillson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-09-20 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Conservation of Natural Gas in Kentucky In the natural gas problem the necessity for immediate onserva'tion is perhaps more vividly apparent than in any of the other mineral resources. This is particularly true of the gas reserves of Kentucky. The really serious situation which has developed in our sister States of West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania may be delayed in Kentucky if effective preservation measures are intro duced at once. The matter is urgent. As in all regional problems of natural resource conservation, the actual eo-operation of the individual producer and consumer, as well as that of the conservation-effecting agent, will be required if the best results are to be obtained.
