Book Hallelujah Anyway

Download or read book Hallelujah Anyway written by Anne Lamott and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017-04-04 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Anne Lamott is my Oprah.” —Chicago Tribune The New York Times bestseller from the author of Dusk, Night, Dawn, Almost Everything and Bird by Bird, a powerful exploration of mercy and how we can embrace it. "Mercy is radical kindness," Anne Lamott writes in her enthralling and heartening book, Hallelujah Anyway. It's the permission you give others—and yourself—to forgive a debt, to absolve the unabsolvable, to let go of the judgment and pain that make life so difficult. In Hallelujah Anyway: Rediscovering Mercy Lamott ventures to explore where to find meaning in life. We should begin, she suggests, by "facing a great big mess, especially the great big mess of ourselves." It's up to each of us to recognize the presence and importance of mercy everywhere—"within us and outside us, all around us"—and to use it to forge a deeper understanding of ourselves and more honest connections with each other. While that can be difficult to do, Lamott argues that it's crucial, as "kindness towards others, beginning with myself, buys us a shot at a warm and generous heart, the greatest prize of all." Full of Lamott’s trademark honesty, humor and forthrightness, Hallelujah Anyway is profound and caring, funny and wise—a hopeful book of hands-on spirituality.

Book Let the Church Say Hallelujah

Download or read book Let the Church Say Hallelujah written by Flora Dukes and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2018-04-20 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sanctuary or Church of Christ Jesus is our hospital and another throne we come to for dumping our hurts and renewing of our minds. As we come in and as we go out, if we believe the Word of God, we should be excited about what the Word of God reveals about who we are in Him. We should leave Church stronger than before because of what we have been taught, andbelieve Gods Holy message being explained to us. We have to examine the Word of God to know the truth is being taught. (1 John 2:13, 5:4, KJV ref only) Our Pastors should not have to plead for a response to the anointed Word of God during service. I hear pastors/teachers/ministers saying, Come on somebody? Can I get the Church to say amen? Are you all getting the message? Are you all awake? It is dishonorable not to respond with praise to the awesome Word of God. (Hebrews 13:15-17, AMPC ref only) Did you know were doxological? Meaningwe were made to worship the Lord of lords, who is the King of kings, Jesus our Savior, with our expressions in songs, hymns, praises and our lifestyles! We have so many reasons to praise God, and to be thankful as Christ believers. (Isaiah 56:7, AMPC ref only) PRAISE THE LORD! Sing to the Lord a new song, praise Him in the assembly of His saints! Let the high praises of God be in their throats and a two-edged sword in their hands (Psalm 149:1, 6, AMPC)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this powerful new interpretation of the book of Revelation, the late, revered author and translator of The Message Bible offers timely insights into how we can lean into growth, not in spite of challenging times, but because of them. “Insightful and inviting . . . This is Eugene at his pastoral best.”—Rev. Dr. Glenn Packiam, associate senior pastor at New Life Church and author of Blessed Broken Given The book of Revelation is filled with angels and dragons, fantastic beasts and golden cities, bottomless pits and mysterious numbers. It’s dramatic, sure—but what exactly does that have to do with the tests we face today? Actually, a lot. When the apostle John penned the book of Revelation, believers lived in a time of deception and injustice. But his message doesn’t just reflect their cries for things to be made right; it reveals heaven’s perspective of the bigger picture. In this never-before-published work, Eugene H. Peterson traces the dramatic symbolism found in John’s letters to the seven churches, uncovering Christ’s instructions to these ancient communities. Along the way, encounter seven key tests, of our love, suffering, truth, holiness, reality, witness, and commitment, tests from Christ that can deepen our faith and even shape our future. This Hallelujah Banquet is your personal invitation to grow deep and begin living now in a generous, abundant, and hopeful reality in Christ.

Book excerpt: Hallelujah Time, Virgina Konchan's third full-length poetry collection--and the first to appear in Canada--delivers up poetry that is unlike anything being written today. Specializing in fast-moving monologues that track the vagaries and divagations of a mind in action, Konchan cuts our most hallowed cultural institutions and constructions down to size with surprising turns of language both theatrical and sincere. Hallelujah Time embraces a dazzling mix of idioms, registers, and tones in poems that compress everything they know into aphoristic, hard-boiled insights as arresting as they are witty. "My human desire," Konchan writes, "is simple: / to live on the perpetual cusp / of extremity." Hallelujah Time is a revelation.

Download or read book Standing Between Your AMEN and Hallelujah written by Michael Vidaurri and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2015-02-15 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: HAVING DONE ALL TO STAND…STAND! Ephesians 6:10-14 says, “10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore…” We have been called to stand and to persevere in faith when trials come our way—but we never stand alone—we stand in the shadow of the Almighty. He is our God! He is our Defender! He is our Deliverer! And it is In Him that we receive our VICTORY! In fact, Psalm 91:1-11 promises us, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most Highshall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.” 1 Peter 1:6-7 encourages us saying, “6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. It doesn't matter how impossible our situations may seem in the natural—God is capable of moving Heaven and Earth to see us through. Our job is to put on our spiritual armor, to stand on the promises of the Bible, and to persevere—UNTIL WE WIN!

Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could? At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel. Read in order to understand. Read in order to hope. Or read in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

Book excerpt: HALLELUJAH – HE IS NOT HERE; HE HAS RISEN. BOOK 5 in the FAITH CHRONICLES SERIES THE NEW TESTAMENT "And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher. They entered in and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. It came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. As they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why do you seek the living among the dead?"– Luke 24: 2-5 (KJV) Jesus Christ is the most well-known name in the world! He is the only man to have walked the earth, and his story told to in hundreds upon hundreds of different ways over the last two thousand years. No matter who you talk to, everyone has heard about him and his many miracles and his deeds. Since little was written about Jesus in his first thirty years, this novel will begin when he was first baptized by John the Baptist, a cousin of Jesus. If we take a close look at the Gospels, a comprehensive picture emerges of Jesus Christ. In these writings, there's no gentle Jesus meek and mild, but more so a person so dynamic and so inspiring that even hardcore fisherman, Roman soldiers, strict tax collectors, and a man with one of the foremost intellects of his day, the apostle Paul, were all standing in line to put their reputations out on the line in order to follow Christ. Our exciting story begins on Jesus' thirtieth birthday. We do know, however, that before this, Jesus was born in Bethlehem. His mother Mary is believed to have had Jesus through immaculate conception. The life story told in this novel begins, primarily, with the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. It was at this time John announced that Jesus was, in fact, the Son of God. Secondly, Jesus finds his first three followers, better known as his disciples. There were finally twelve disciples who accompanied Jesus until the end of his life on the earth. The ministry of Jesus is characterized by many extraordinary and miraculous actions. At his Sermon on the Mount, he delivered the Beatitudes, which were spiritual teachings of compassion, humility, and love. He fed the hungry. He healed the sick. The more miracles he performed, the more people followed him and listened to his teachings attentively. The life of the Lord is paramount to all Christians in every walk of life. Every Christian should know about the life of Jesus Christ and the ministry of his spiritual leadership.

His story shows how God can shift one from condemnation to congregation and from the ‘pit’ to the pulpit. His call to God is nothing short of the Apostle Paul’s encounter on the Damascus Road. His many trials and temptations caused him to fervently seek the Lord; which resulted in him being moved out of the Gutter of poverty and sin, to the Utter of prosperity, peace, love and joy in the Holy Ghost. Journeying with God, Apostle Baker willingly shares wisdom keys to unlocking one’s harvest and being ultimately seated in the uttermost as a child of God. We Must Have the Proper Knowledge of the Truth (John 6:60-71) Jesus Has Given Us Everlasting Life through His Own Flesh and Blood. The Church keeps two sacraments commanded by Jesus. One is baptism, and the other is Holy Communion. We take part in Communion to ruminate on the gospel of Truth revealed through its bread and wine, in remembrance of this gospel. In the rite of Holy Communion, we eat the bread in remembrance of the flesh of Jesus, and drink the wine as the ceremony of His blood. As such, the real meaning of Holy Communion is to strengthen our faith in the Truth that Jesus has saved us from the sins of the world and given us everlasting life through His baptism and His death on the Cross. However, the problem is that almost all Christians take part in Holy Communion only formally, without even realizing what Jesus meant by the phrase, "My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed"(John 6:55). Therefore, within the gospel of the water and the Spirit, we need to once again focus on the meaning of Jesus' commandment to eat His flesh and drink His blood, and believe in it.
