Book Hadron Spectrum of Quenched QCD on a 32 sup 3 times 64 Lattice

Download or read book Hadron Spectrum of Quenched QCD on a 32 sup 3 times 64 Lattice written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preliminary results from a hadron spectrum calculation of quenched Quantumchromodynamics on a 32[sup 3] [times] 64 lattice at [beta] = 6.5 are reported. The hadron spectrum calculation is done with staggered quarks of masses, m[sub q]a = 0.001, 0.005 and 0.0025. We use two different sources in order to be able to extract the [Delta] mass in addition to the usual local light hadron masses. The numerical simulation is executed on the Intel Touchstone Delta computer. The peak speed of the Delta for a 16 [times] 32 mesh configuration is 41 Gflops for 32 bit precision. The sustained speed for our updating code is 9.5 Gflops. A multihit metropolis algorithm combined with an over-relaxation method is used in the updating and the conjugate gradient method is employed for Dirac matrix inversion. Configurations are stored every 1000 sweeps.

Book Quenched Hadron Spectrum of QCD

Book excerpt: We calculate hadron spectrum of quantum chromodynamics without dynamical fermions on a 32[sup 3] [times] 64 lattice volume at [beta] = 6.5. Using two different wall sources of staggered fermion whose mass is 0.01, 0.005 and 0.0025 under the background gauge configurations, we extract local light hadron masses and the [triangle] masses and compare these hadron masses with those from experiments. The numerical simulation is executed on the Intel Touchstone Delta computer. We employ multihit metropolis algorithm with over-relaxation method steps to update gauge field configuration and gauge field configuration are collected at every 1000 sweeps. After the gauge field configuration is fixed to Coulomb gauge, the conjugate gradient method is used for Dirac matrix inversion.

Book Quenched QCD at Finite Density

Download or read book Quenched QCD at Finite Density written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulations of quenched QCD at relatively small but nonzero chemical potential [mu] on 32 [times] 16[sup 3] lattices indicate that the nucleon screening mass decreases linearly as [mu] increases predicting a critical chemical potential of one third the nucleon mass, M[sub N]/3, by extrapolation. The meson spectrum does not change as [mu] increases over the same range, from zero to m[sub [pi]]/2. Past studies of quenched lattice QCD have suggested that there is phase transition at [mu]=m[sub [pi]]/2. The authors provide alternative explanations for these results, and find a number of technical reasons why standard lattice simulation techniques suffer from greatly enhanced fluctuations and finite size effects for [mu] ranging from m[sub [pi]]/2 to m[sub N]/3. They find evidence for such problems in their simulations, and suggest that they can be surmounted by improved measurement techniques.

Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of review articles on the most outstanding topics in heavy flavour physics. All the authors have made significant contributions to this field. The book reviews in detail the theoretical structure of heavy flavour physics within the Standard Model and its confrontation with existing experimental data. The physics of the top quark and of the Higgs play an important role in this volume. Beginning with radiative electroweak corrections and their impressive tests at LEP and hadron colliders, the book summarizes the present status of quark mixing, CP violation and rare decays. The dynamics of exclusive D- and B-meson decays, the τ-lepton physics and the newly discovered heavy quark symmetries are discussed in detail. The impact of strong interactions on weak decays is clearly visible in many articles. The physics of heavy flavours at LEP, HERA and hadron colliders constitutes an important part of the book. Another significant topic is the possible role of heavy flavours in the spontaneous symmetry breaking of gauge symmetries. Finally the most recent advances in lattice calculations of the properties of heavy flavours and the lattice studies of the dynamics of heavy flavours are presented.

Book excerpt: The two-volume set Lectures on QCD provides an introductory overview of Quantum Chromodynamics, the theory of strong interactions. In a series of pedagogically written articles based on lectures given over the years to graduate students, the fundamentals of QCD are discussed and significant application areas are described. The field-theoretic basis of QCD is the focus of the first volume, while the application of QCD to the phenomenology of strong interactions forms the subject of the second volume.
