Book Baryon Spectra in Au Au Collisions

Download or read book Baryon Spectra in Au Au Collisions written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measurements are presented of single particle spectra from Au targets using the recently commissioned Au-beam at 11.6 GeV/c per nucleon from the BNL Tandem-Booster-AGS accelerator facilities. Protons and deuterons were detected with the measuring the 25msr E-802 spectrometer. Collision centrality was determined by measuring the forward energy in a calorimeter subtending a 1.2° cone about 0°. Some comparisons with the cascade code ARC have been made.

Book A Relativistic Cascade for Heavy Ion Collisions

Download or read book A Relativistic Cascade for Heavy Ion Collisions written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Au on Au collisions at the BNL/AGS (11.6 GeV-A/c) are expected to produce a short-lived state of matter at high baryon density. If the baryons reach sufficiently high density, they may produce a quark-gluon plasma (QGP). The signals from a QGP phase may be difficult to distinguish from those of ordinary hadronic matter. The authors have constructed a relativistic cascade (ARC) for hadrons in an attempt to model the dynamics of ordinary hadronic matter in a heavy ion collision, in the hopes that deviations from the cascade results may indicate new physics. In this contribution the authors discuss the formation of high baryon density matter, and its effect on antiproton production.

Book Quark Confinement And The Hadron Spectrum V Proceedings Of The 5th International Conference

Download or read book Quark Confinement And The Hadron Spectrum V Proceedings Of The 5th International Conference written by Nora Serafina Brambilla and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003-08-27 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an update on our understanding of strong interaction, with theoretical and experimental highlights included. It is divided into five sections. The first section is devoted to the investigations into and the latest results on the mechanism of quark confinement. The second and third sections focus respectively on light and heavy quarks (effective field theories, Schwinger-Dyson approach and lattice QCD results). The fourth section deals with the deconfinement mechanism and quark-gluon plasma formation signals. The last section presents highlights of experiments, new physics beyond QCD, and nonperturbative approaches in other theories (strings and SUSY) that may be useful in QCD.

Book excerpt: A quantitative model, based on hadronic physics and Monte Carlo cascading is applied to heavy ion collisions at BNL-AGS and BEVALAC energies. The model was found to be in excellent agreement with particle spectra where data previously existed, for Si beams, and was able to successfully predict the spectra where data was initially absent, for Au beams. For Si + Au collisions baryon densities of three or four times the normal nuclear matter density (?0) are seen in the theory, while for Au + Au collisions, matter at densities up to 10?0 is anticipated. The possibility that unusual states of matter may be created in the Au beams and potential signatures for its observation, in particular deuterons and collective flow, are considered.

Book High Baryon Density from Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

Download or read book High Baryon Density from Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A quantitative model, based on hadronic physics, is developed and applied to heavy ion collisions at BNL-AGS energies. This model is in excellent agreement with observed particle spectra in heavy ion collisions using Si beams, where baryon densities of three and four times the normal nuclear matter density ([rho]0) are reached. For Au on Au collisions, the authors predict the formation of matter at very high densities (up to 10 [rho]0).

Book Some Recent Results in Au Au Collisions at AGS

Download or read book Some Recent Results in Au Au Collisions at AGS written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many interesting results have been obtained for Au+ Au reactions at AGS. The basic information about the reaction dynamics comes from the hadronic distribution. and this article reviews the recent progress of these distributions in details. The proton rapidity distribution shows significantly increased stopping compared to lighter systems, implying the formation of a state of high baryon density. Unlike reactions at this energy induced by lighter heavy ions, at low[ital m[sub t] - m[sub 0]] the proton invariant spectra deviate from a single exponential shape and become fear, . while pion spectra are found to rise in this region, with the[pi][sup -] spectra rising faster than the[pi][sup+] spectra. The inverse slope parameter increases faster for particles of larger mass as the number of participants in the reaction increases, an indication of increased effect of radial expansion in central collision. Anti-proton Needs have been measured recently, and unfortunately a comparison among current results from different experiments indicates discrepancy.
