Book Philosophy of Globalization

Download or read book Philosophy of Globalization written by Concha Roldán and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-06-11 with total page 659 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not so long ago, it seemed the intellectual positions on globalization were clear, with advocates and opponents making their respective cases in decidedly contrasting terms. Recently, however, the fronts have shifted dramatically. The aim of this publication is to contribute philosophical depth to the debates on globalization conducted within various academic fields – principally by working out its normative dimensions. The interdisciplinary nature of this book’s contributors also serves to scientifically ground the ethical-philosophical discourse on global responsibility. Though by no means exhaustive, the expansive scope of the works herein encompasses such other topics as the altering consciousness of space and time, and the phenomenon of globalization as a discourse, as an ideology and as a symbolic form.

Book Una patria all lejos en el pasado

Download or read book Una patria all lejos en el pasado written by César Andrés Núñez and published by El Colegio de Mexico AC. This book was released on 2011-05-20 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book D Ors fil sofo written by Mercè Rius and published by Universitat de València. This book was released on 2014-09-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Paradoxes of Religious Toleration in Early Modern Political Thought

Download or read book Paradoxes of Religious Toleration in Early Modern Political Thought written by John Christian Laursen and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2012-06-21 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today’s developed world, much of what people believe about religious toleration has evolved from crucial innovations in toleration theory developed in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Thinkers from that period have been rightly celebrated for creating influential, liberating concepts and ideas that have enabled many of us to live in peace. However, their work was certainly not perfect. In this enlightening volume, John Christian Laursen and María José Villaverde have gathered contributors to focus on the paradoxes, blindspots, unexpected flaws, or ambiguities in early modern toleration theories and practices. Each chapter explores the complexities, complications, and inconsistencies that came up in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries as people grappled with the idea of toleration. In understanding the weaknesses, contradictions, and ambivalences in other theories, they hope to provoke thought about the defects in ways of thinking about toleration in order to help in overcoming similar problems in contemporary toleration theories.

Book Threats to Peace and International Security Asia versus West

Download or read book Threats to Peace and International Security Asia versus West written by Juan Cayón Peña and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-27 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to analyze from a multidisciplinary perspective the current geopolitical conflict between East and West, between two differentiated and apparently conflicting cosmogonic visions. The geopolitical evolution of the current panorama seems to lead to a new world in the field of international relations, a new board played on a planetary level. Once again, bloc geopolitics can be glimpsed in the immediate future, in which the most important actors such as Russia, China, the United States of America, and the European Union are called to position themselves with respect to the territorial and strategic ambitions of the opponent. International law seems to be overwhelmed by military actions and factual pressure on the ground, while the battle of ideas extends to the technological field and cyberspace. The different origins of the authors, with extensive academic, military, police forces, and business experience undoubtedly enriches the unique perspective that this work intends to address, always in the attempt to enforce international law and the channels of dialogue between nations, such as the best solution to conflicts.

This book was released on 2024-07-29 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world that's constantly on the move and full of stress, finding ways to take care of our mental health can be a challenge. With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting our lives in unprecedented ways, prioritizing our mental wellbeing has become even more critical, especially for those who are older or living in suburban areas; feelings of isolation and anxiety can be overwhelming. That's why the therapeutic benefits of reading are being rediscovered and are gaining renewed attention. Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing Through Bibliotherapy addresses this gap by bringing together experts from literary studies, psychology, and education. Through their insights, readers will understand how literature can be used for healing and personal growth. By exploring topics such as anxiety, brain neurology, children's literature, and stress management, this book provides practical strategies for incorporating reading into daily life to promote mental wellbeing.

Book State Violence and the Right to Peace

Download or read book State Violence and the Right to Peace written by Kathleen Malley-Morrison and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2009-10-22 with total page 1213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A thought-provoking revelation of the ways ordinary people—conquerors and conquered, imperialists and the colonized, Christians, Jews, and Muslims—think about war and peace. Filled with personal reflections from every corner of the globe, State Violence and the Right to Peace: An International Survey of the Views of Ordinary People is a masterful portrayal of how people from diverse cultures, religions, and experiences think about war and peace. Spanning four volumes, State Violence and the Right to Peace brings together the views of shopkeepers, day laborers, clerical workers, students, teachers, social workers, veterans, and others talking about governmental aggression, torture, and protesting acts of war. These views—from Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia—are seen in the context of major historical battles, including the empire-building of Western European countries, the emergence and contraction of the Soviet Union, and the wars in the Middle East. As this remarkable resource shows, there are some surprising similarities in thinking about war and peace across nations and cultures—and some equally surprising cases where opinions diverge.

Download or read book Com n written by Christian Laval and published by Editorial GEDISA. This book was released on 2015-05-15 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
