Download or read book Influencers activistas y los derechos de las mujeres written by Carmen de Burgos Seguí and published by Modern Language Association. This book was released on 2024-09-16 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The newspaper columnist Carmen de Burgos Seguí caused a sensation in 1903 when she called for a public discussion on divorce, then illegal in Spain. The fierce debate that ensued among Spain's leading thinkers--politicians, academics, feminists, journalists, and others--is collected in El divorcio en España. This milestone volume ultimately contributed to Spain's legalizing divorce in the 1930s--a victory for women's rights that was subsequently rolled back by the Franco dictatorship and not regained for over fifty years. The opinions showcased here illuminate the uniqueness of feminism in early-twentieth-century Spain: because ideas about marriage and the role of women in society were anchored in Catholic teachings, feminist arguments focused on rights to education, divorce, and employment instead of on suffrage.

Book The Cuban Filmography

Download or read book The Cuban Filmography written by Alfonso J. García Osuna and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-08-01 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On January 24, 1897, an event took place that would change Cuban culture forever: the first moving pictures were shown in Havana. A couple of weeks later, on February 7, the first movie was filmed on the island. Since then, cinematography and Cuba have shared peculiar and innate connections, as their beginnings roughly coincide and Cubans are living in both the age of independence and revolution and the age of film. This work is a filmography of every Cuban film (including documentaries, shorts and cartoons) released from 1897, the first year films were shown and made in Cuba, through 2001. Each entry gives the original title of the film, the English translation of it, director, production company or companies, year of release, black and white or color, total running time, writing credits if the film is based on a story or novel, animation credits if the film is a cartoon, music credits if music has been written specifically for the film, cast credits, and a synopsis and short critical evaluation. The work also provides comments on the relationship between Cuban film and history, and the changes that have taken place over the years in themes, topics, methods, and other aspects of filmmaking in Cuba.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. At a limitless and incomprehensible border, Hector Charles cannot comprehend where he is, who he is, or who he was; but he suspects that he will one day be judged by a divine higher power and even by himself. Hector is descending into hellish depths as he is forced to systematically relive each of his actions, actions he tries to hide at all costs and longs to forget. As he is unable to discern his real identity in this inanimate position, he suffers the consequences that result from the intrinsic passion that brought him to an end that neither he nor all who knew him in life could have foreseen. I would like to add a credit for the artist Jorge Posada, who provided his paintings for the covers of both books. Covers by Colombian artist Jorge Posada http://www.jorgeposada-art.com

Book Voces de Juncos En El Pantano

Download or read book Voces de Juncos En El Pantano written by Maricela Col Mel Ndez and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2011-12 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
