Book Breast Gynecological Diseases

Download or read book Breast Gynecological Diseases written by Mahesh K. Shetty and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-06-24 with total page 501 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is primarily a symptom-based guide to Breast and Gynecologic Imaging. Most clinical publications focus on a specific pathology such as "Imaging and/or management of ovarian cancer," but in clinical practice, patients do not present with a diagnosis. Physicians are presented with clinical symptoms, and appropriate use of imaging after a clinical assessment is critical from the point of view of effective intervention to treat a patient. CMS now mandates a clinical decision support system to justify imaging. This is based on making use of appropriate modalities for specific clinical problems that are deemed so by professional society guidelines. In an era of emphasis on cost effective, high quality health care delivery, it is critical for clinicians in training and practice to have a resource that outlines scientifically sound and professional society endorsed criteria for appropriate work up of patients’ symptoms. This book applies this symptom-based approach to women’s health. Authors are focused on providing a scientifically proven resource to gynecologists, obstetricians, radiologists and internists involved in the management of common symptoms affecting women. Each chapter is based on a common breast or gynecological problem and how patients are triaged for imaging. The implications of the findings and the most appropriate management of the patient are also presented. The text focuses on providing the most effective methods currently available to investigate commonly encountered symptoms in women’s health. In addition, there are chapters that outline rationale of screening for breast cancer in women with an average risk and those with an elevated risk for breast cancer as well as a clinician guide to understanding multidisciplinary approach to the Breast cancer patient. This is an ideal guide for gynecologists, obstetricians, radiologists, and internists working in women’s health.

Book Atlas of Full Breast Ultrasonography

Download or read book Atlas of Full Breast Ultrasonography written by Aristida Colan-Georges and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-19 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This atlas describes and illustrates a novel approach, referred to as full breast ultrasonography (FBU), that represents a challenge to conventional breast imaging diagnosis. The coverage encompasses examination technique, diagnostic criteria, the imaging features of a wide variety of lesions, and role in follow-up. FBU involves anatomic ultrasound scanning based on the ductal echography technique proposed by Michel Teboul, supplemented by Doppler and real-time sonoelastography. The approach offers a variety of advantages. Compared with MRI it has a lower cost, wider availability, better resolution, and improved correlation with anatomy. Compared with mammography it has the benefits of absence of irradiation and pain, applicability in all cases, and better overall accuracy. Furthermore, the standardized technique of acquisition and interpretation means that it is suitable as a screening test, unlike classic ultrasonography. FBU is applicable in ultrasound BI-RADS assessment and is of value in depicting both benign and malignant conditions. It can be recommended as a first-line method of diagnosis and for the follow-up of treated breasts, regardless of the patient’s age, sex, or physical condition.

Book What Radiology Residents Need to Know Breast Imaging

Download or read book What Radiology Residents Need to Know Breast Imaging written by Priscilla J. Slanetz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2024-10-21 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introduction to breast imaging, specifically designed for the needs of first through third year residents. While rotating through breast imaging, radiology residents are asked to learn significant amounts of information at a fast and unrelenting pace. However, most current books are densely written and contain far more material than residents need to know. Moreover, the number, variety and quality of images is often limited. What Radiology Residents Need to Know: Breast Imaging answers these needs by presenting the important information in bullet fashion, divided into convenient sub-units, such as “clinical information,” “imaging findings” and “management.” This book covers such topics as breast cancer, benign breast disease, image-guided interventions, pregnant and lactating patients, transgender patients, and male breast disease. In addition, it contains tips on approaching and interpreting mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI studies based on decades of practical experience and teaching residents at the work station as well as a list of common differentials. With liberal use of illustrations in the text and an online bank of many more high-quality images, this book gives readers a comprehensive library of breast imaging scans and serves as an ideal guide for radiology residents.

Download or read book Ultrasound Mammography written by Bernd-Joachim Hackelöer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For most areas of medical ultrasound, textbooks that provide physicians with detailed, practical information are readily available. Unfortunately, for the field of ultrasound mammography, such texts are few in number, in comparison to the num ber available for other fields of medical ultrasound. This textbook by Drs. Hack eHler, Duda, and Lauth fills this gap by presenting a clear overview of the usefulness and limitations of ultrasound mammography. Information based on clinical experiences with various types of automated and real-time instrumentation is presented in a manner that allows physicians to make their own judgments regarding the diagnostic capabilities of ultrasound mammogra phy. It also provides specific information on techniques required to obtain useful diagnostic data. Examples of the many possible image variations of specific breast pathologies are presented. The advantages of recent real-time systems, when used with a stand-off, are clearly outlined. The authors do not belabor the philosophical dilemma of which sys tem, an automated or a real-time, is best suited for ultrasound mammography. They simply present the information they have gained in their use of both of these systems and indicate that, in the future, a combination of automated and real-time would be the most valuable for the physician.

Book Breast Cancer Diagnostic Imaging and Therapeutic Guidance

Download or read book Breast Cancer Diagnostic Imaging and Therapeutic Guidance written by Uwe Fischer and published by Thieme. This book was released on 2017-12-13 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Breast Cancer: Diagnostic Imaging and Therapeutic Guidance provides a concise, practical, and practice-based source of up-to-date diagnostic and therapeutic information for the general radiologist. In the diagnostic phase of evaluating breast disorders, the overriding consideration in the examination and assessment is to reduce false diagnoses to the absolute minimum-a principle wholly in the interests of the patient. The particular diagnostic pathway chosen will depend on the highly variable individual presentations and the associated findings. A major focus of the book is the comparative value of the various diagnostic imaging modalities. As well as discussing conventional mammography and adjunct modalities such as breast ultrasound and galactography, the text also showcases the superior utility of contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging in providing the highest rate of detection of cancers at any stage. As well as radiological diagnosis, sections written by top specialists cover the interventional procedures for obtaining biopsies and also the surgical and medical therapy of breast carcinoma. Key Features: Combined authors' experience of more than 100 years provides this work with great depth and expertise. Richly illustrated with almost 600 images, including full color histology, patient photographs, and hundreds of radiological studies. BI-RADS classification for mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI. Adjunct topics covered include screening and staging; lymph nodes; breast reconstruction; chemotherapy, also with respect to endocrine-active tumors; radiation therapy; tumors of the male breast; logistics in the breast care center; and psychosocial care. Breast Cancer: Diagnostic Imaging and Therapeutic Guidance is certain to prove an invaluable tool for all general radiologists involved in the evaluation and treatment of patients with breast cancer.
