This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to investigate and explain the rapid advances in the characterization of high temperature crack growth behaviour which have been made in recent years, with reference to industrial applications. Complicated mathematics has been minimized with the emphasis placed instead on finding solutions using simplified procedures without the need for complex numerical analysis.

Book Mechanical Behaviour of Materials at High Temperature

Download or read book Mechanical Behaviour of Materials at High Temperature written by C. Moura Branco and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1996-06-30 with total page 758 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the edited version of lectures and selected research contributions presented at the NATO ADVANCED STUDY INSTITUTE on MECHANICAL BEHA VI OUR OF MATERIALS AT HIGH TEMPERATURE, held in Sesimbra, Portugal, 12th-22nd September 1995, and organized by 1ST-Lisbon Institute of Technology, PortugaL The Institute was attended by 88 participants, including 15 lecturers from 17 countries including five CP countries. The lecturers were leading scientists and technologists from universities, research institutions and industry. The students were mainly young PhD students and junior academic or research staff with postgraduate qualifications (MSc or PhD). Fourteen students were from the five CP countries. The students presented research papers or posters during the Institute reporting the current progress of their research projects. A total of thirty three lectures, ten research papers and fifty posters were presented. This book does not contain the poster presentations and seven research papers were selected for publication. All the sessions were very active and quite extensive discussions on scientific aspects took place during the Institute. The Advanced Study Institute provided a forum for interaction among scientists and engineers from different areas of research, and young researchers.

Book IUTAM Symposium on Creep in Structures

Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Creep in Structures written by S. Murakami and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-12-31 with total page 554 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings contain 48 innovative papers consolidating the development of creep research since 1990 and discussing the new horizons in this fundamental field of applied mechanics in the coming century. This volume is useful for researchers and graduate course students in the relevant fields.

Book Comprehensive Structural Integrity

Download or read book Comprehensive Structural Integrity written by Ian Milne and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-07-25 with total page 4647 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this major reference work is to provide a first point of entry to the literature for the researchers in any field relating to structural integrity in the form of a definitive research/reference tool which links the various sub-disciplines that comprise the whole of structural integrity. Special emphasis will be given to the interaction between mechanics and materials and structural integrity applications. Because of the interdisciplinary and applied nature of the work, it will be of interest to mechanical engineers and materials scientists from both academic and industrial backgrounds including bioengineering, interface engineering and nanotechnology. The scope of this work encompasses, but is not restricted to: fracture mechanics, fatigue, creep, materials, dynamics, environmental degradation, numerical methods, failure mechanisms and damage mechanics, interfacial fracture and nano-technology, structural analysis, surface behaviour and heart valves. The structures under consideration include: pressure vessels and piping, off-shore structures, gas installations and pipelines, chemical plants, aircraft, railways, bridges, plates and shells, electronic circuits, interfaces, nanotechnology, artificial organs, biomaterial prostheses, cast structures, mining... and more. Case studies will form an integral part of the work.

Book Sixth International Conference on Creep and Fatigue

Download or read book Sixth International Conference on Creep and Fatigue written by Institution of Mechanical Engineers (Great Britain) and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many engineering components, in, for example, chemical plant, gas turbines, conventional and nuclear power plant operate at teperatures high enough for creep to be an important design consideration. The failure of components at high temperatures can have catastrophic results. The papers presented in this volume are concerned with the development of safe design procedures which take advantage of the continuous developments in materials and material behaviour modelling, and thus avoid the dangers of creep and component failure at high temperature.

Book Reference Stress Methods

Download or read book Reference Stress Methods written by Ian Goodall and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2003-02-07 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nine papers developed from presentations to a November 2000 seminar at an undisclosed location explain how reference stress methods and other simplified methods can offer many attractions in the design process despite the rapid developments and popularity of finite element analysis. In sections on determining the basic parameters, extending the approach to weldments, and applications, they discuss such aspects as computational methods for limit states and shakedown; the high- temperature creep rupture of low-alloy, ferritic steel, butt-welded pipes subjected to combined internal pressure and end loadings; and buckling calculations.
