Book excerpt: Excerpt from Guide to Florida It was whilst discussing the subject with his followers, and arguing as to the course to be pursued, that an Indian Cacique narrated to them a wonderful story; that, not many leagues away, towards the setting sun, there existed a land of great riches, and exceeding all others in beauty of scenery. But, what was most extraordinary, it possessed a mar vellons fountain, whose waters had the power to renew youth and give vigor to those who bathed in or drank them. Book Tourists and Settlers Guide to Florida Classic Reprint

Download or read book Tourists and Settlers Guide to Florida Classic Reprint written by H. K. Ingram and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-05 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Tourists' and Settlers' Guide to Florida No pretense is made that a "Guide to Florida" is a new or novel publication. There have been guides almost beyond number, guides issued by land companies and other corporations, which guided the traveler to certain sections and ignored all other portions of the State. Most commendable enterprise without doubt when viewed from the company's point of view, but worthless to the invalid or tourist who sought health or recreation in the one Florida. From the tourists' and settlers' stand-point no thorough, reliable work of the kind has ever been issued. There has ever existed a distinct want of such a publication, and this book is offered to supply this need. It is not designed to furnish rapturous descriptions of Florida, appropriate as they always are, and great as is the temptation whenever the subject is broached. The man who contemplates either visiting the State or becoming an inhabitant thereof, it is hoped will find his natural questions either answered beforehand, or himself guided to the proper parties for obtaining correct information. Facts and figures, dollars and cents, will abound. Expense of travel, cost of living, and all practical questions are anticipated and answered. The book will be issued annually hereafter, and it may safely be promised will become more and more valuable to both the traveler and the business man as the years go by. The fact that the author has often visited every portion of the State and repeatedly written up each section, and has her knowledge from personal observation and close inquiry, will, it is hoped, add value and interest to the book. Moreover, it is Florida up-to-date containing the latest statistics and situations. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Standard Guide Florida

Download or read book The Standard Guide Florida written by Foster And Reynolds Co and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-06-26 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Standard Guide, Florida: One Hundred Illustrations Sportsmen differ as to whether a 12, 16 or 20 Gauge is the best shotgun for field shooting, but the knowing ones agree that the Winchester Model 1912 lightweight, hammerless repeater is the one best bet in the shotgun line. This Winchester being made in 12, 16 and 20 gauges permits an advocate of the big, medium or small bore to indulge his fancy and be sure of getting a gun that is true to its gauge in balance, weight and length. All three gauges of this model are made of specially selected materials. Nickel steel, which is twice as strong as ordinary gun-steel, is used throughout for the metal parts in this Winchester. This means a lightweight gun without sacrificing safety or strength. This gun has a cross-bolt trigger lock, a smooth, quick and easy action, and a simple take-down system. It loads and unloads easily and its shooting qualities are not excelled by the highest priced double guns. There are many other pleasing and exclusive features of this Winchester which appeal to sportsmen that could be enumerated, but the gun itself is the best evidence of its quality and desirability.
