This book was released on 1994 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this document is to provide specific guidelines on the design, construction, repair, and maintenance of four main types of parking garage structural systems: cast-in-place conventionally reinforced concrete; cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete; pre-stressed, pre- cast concrete; and structural steel supporting concrete block. Sections of the document cover the following topics: general design and construction principles, and methods for improving durability; specific durability design and construction details, relating to concrete mixes, structural layout, protection systems, and maintenance; durability aspects of post-tensioned structure design; materials testing and quality control during construction; operation and maintenance of parking garages; condition surveys of reinforced and post-tensioned concrete structures; considerations for development of repair strategies; and sealers and waterproofing membranes.

Book Maintenance based Design of Concrete Parking Structures

Download or read book Maintenance based Design of Concrete Parking Structures written by Christopher David Stoakes and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study is to determine what type of preventative maintenance for a concrete parking structure will produce the maximum economic benefit. Existing models for concrete deterioration are analyzed for their accuracy in predicting the service lives of concrete structures and a model appropriate for concrete parking structures is selected. The selected model is modified to account for the unique microclimate that is created within a parking structure and used to create deterioration curves that quantify the fraction of a structure deteriorated at a given time. Several preventative maintenance programs that summarize current practice in the repair of concrete parking structures are created. The programs are analyzed using the selected concrete deterioration model and the method of preventative maintenance that maximizes the net present worth of a concrete parking structure is identified.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you own a car, use public transportation, go to work or school, use health care, shop or dine out, or are part of a metropolitan community, parking affects you, probably in more ways than you’ve thought about. Because parking has such a huge effect on what happens in cities and towns and how the greater transportation system functions, decision-makers are beginning to realize that it’s critical to employ parking expertise at the beginning of the planning process. Designing and implementing an effective, professionally managed parking strategy can mean the difference between frustrating and costly traffic congestion and efficient, time-saving traffic flow. A Guide to Parking provides information on the current state of parking, providing professionals and students with an overview on major areas of parking and the transportation and mobility industry, punctuated by brief program examples.

Download or read book Parking Structures written by Ilja Irmscher and published by Dom Pub. This book was released on 2012-12-03 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although above and underground car parks only fulfil the must-have incidental purpose of access by individual vehicles, their construction has to be of high quality, and of course without any defects. For many buildings, underground car parks form the foundations for the entire bearing structure, and for public buildings they are often the entrance area. However, car parks are often only taken into account in the planning process too late and with insufficient specialist expertise. This manual describes state-of-the-art structural design for car parks. In so doing, it extrapolates on best practices in the industry and is based on German and European standards. The experienced team of authors who worked with Ilja Irmscher, have set out a universally applicable method and key tools that aim to create user-friendly, cost-efficient and functional car parks.
