Download or read book Design of Trajectory Optimization Approach for Space Maneuver Vehicle Skip Entry Problems written by Runqi Chai and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-30 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the design of optimal trajectories for space maneuver vehicles (SMVs) using optimal control-based techniques. It begins with a comprehensive introduction to and overview of three main approaches to trajectory optimization, and subsequently focuses on the design of a novel hybrid optimization strategy that combines an initial guess generator with an improved gradient-based inner optimizer. Further, it highlights the development of multi-objective spacecraft trajectory optimization problems, with a particular focus on multi-objective transcription methods and multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. In its final sections, the book studies spacecraft flight scenarios with noise-perturbed dynamics and probabilistic constraints, and designs and validates new chance-constrained optimal control frameworks. The comprehensive and systematic treatment of practical issues in spacecraft trajectory optimization is one of the book’s major features, making it particularly suited for readers who are seeking practical solutions in spacecraft trajectory optimization. It offers a valuable asset for researchers, engineers, and graduate students in GNC systems, engineering optimization, applied optimal control theory, etc.
Download or read book From Newton to Chaos written by Archie E. Roy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 573 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reader will find in this volume the Proceedings of the NATO Advanced Study Institute held in Cortina d' Ampezzo, Italy, between July 25 and August 6, 1993, under the title From Newton to Chaos: Modem Techniques for Understanding and Coping With Chaos inN-Body Dynamical Systems. This institute was the latest in a series of meetings held every three years from 1972 to 1990 in dynamical astronomy, theoretical mechanics and celestial mechanics. The proceedings from these institutes have been well-received in the international community of research workers in these disciplines. The present institute was well attended with 15 series of lectures being given by invited speakers: in addition some 40 presentations were made by the other participants. The majority of these contributions are included in these proceedings. The all-pervading influence of chaos in dynamical systems (of even a few variables) has now been universally recognised by researchers, a recognition forced on us by our ability, using powerful computer hardware and software, to tackle dynamical problems that until twenty-five years ago were intractable. Doubtless it was felt by many that these new techniques provided a break-through in celestial mechanics and its related disciplines. And so they were.

Download or read book Proceedings of the 44th Annual American Astronautical Society Guidance Navigation and Control Conference 2022 written by Matt Sandnas and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2024 with total page 1810 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zusammenfassung: This conference attracts GN&C specialists from across the globe. The 2022 Conference was the 44th Annual GN&C conference with more than 230 attendees from six different countries with 44 companies and 28 universities represented. The conference presented more than 100 presentations and 16 posters across 18 topics. This year, the planning committee wanted to continue a focus on networking and collaboration hoping to inspire innovation through the intersection of diverse ideas. These proceedings present the relevant topics of the day while keeping our more popular and well-attended sessions as cornerstones from year to year. Several new topics including "Autonomous Control of Multiple Vehicles" and "Results and Experiences from OSIRIS-REx" were directly influenced by advancements in our industry. In the end, the 44th Annual GN&C conference became a timely reflection of the current state of the GN&C ins the space industry. The annual American Astronautical Society Rocky Mountain Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) Conference began 1977 as an informal exchange of ideas and reports of achievements among guidance and control specialists local to the Colorado area. Bud Gates, Don Parsons, and Bob Culp organized the first conference, and began the annual series of meetings the following winter. In March 1978, the First Annual Rocky Mountain Guidance and Control Conference met at Keystone, Colorado. It met there for eighteen years, moving to Breckenridge in 1996 where it has been for over 25 years
Download or read book Spacecraft Trajectory Optimization written by Bruce A. Conway and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-08-23 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a long-overdue volume dedicated to space trajectory optimization. Interest in the subject has grown, as space missions of increasing levels of sophistication, complexity, and scientific return - hardly imaginable in the 1960s - have been designed and flown. Although the basic tools of optimization theory remain an accepted canon, there has been a revolution in the manner in which they are applied and in the development of numerical optimization. This volume purposely includes a variety of both analytical and numerical approaches to trajectory optimization. The choice of authors has been guided by the editor's intention to assemble the most expert and active researchers in the various specialities presented. The authors were given considerable freedom to choose their subjects, and although this may yield a somewhat eclectic volume, it also yields chapters written with palpable enthusiasm and relevance to contemporary problems.

Download or read book Commercial Aviation Cyber Security written by Terry Lee Davis and published by SAE International. This book was released on 2016-12-31 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the next decade, commercial aviation will see Next Generation ATM (NextGEN), Single European Skies ATM Research (SESAR), and others utilizing Internet- based air-to-ground communication links for advanced “air traffic control” (ATC) communications. Commercial Aviation Cyber Security: Current State and Essential Reading highlights some of the major issues the industry must confront if the vision of a new, advanced air traffic management is to come to fruition. This will require standardization work to identify key components with built-in cyber security that will guide prototype testing, functionality, and prioritizing implementation efforts to solve the roadblocks to global interoperability. The ten technical papers selected for Commercial Aviation Cyber Security: Current State and Essential Reading span the last decade’s work in commercial aviation cyber security, and aircraft cyber technologies. Cyber security cannot be “bolted on” as an after-thought as commercial aviation begins to move to the automated management of national airspaces.

Download or read book Footprint Determination for Reusable Launch Vehicles Experiencing Control Effector Failures written by David B. Doman and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ability to compute the maximum area on the earth's surface (footprint) reachable by an autonomous air vehicle can be useful in planning for the vehicle's safe operations. The information can be important when the vehicle experiences subsystem failures causing it to be unable to maintain its nominal performance. In this paper, we present a method to calculate the footprint of a reusable launch vehicle that experiences a failure in one or more of its aero-control surfaces. During a control effector failure, the maximum attainable moments of the vehicle are reduced, which may decrease the range of conditions that the vehicle can maintain a trimmed condition. Additionally, the lift and drag characteristics of the vehicle can change when control effectors are moved to off-nominal positions to correct for moment imbalance caused by failures or damage. As a result, the footprint of the vehicle is reduced. A technique for calculating the available effectiveness of the aero-control surfaces is used in conjunction with a footprint generation algorithm to include the effects of rotational trim on the vehicle footprint.
