Book excerpt: Where is the Catholic Church going? How will it face the challenges of the 21st century? Do the recent advances in modern technology pose a threat to the human soul? In this wide-ranging, candid conversation, Cardinal Péter Erdő, Archbishop of Budapest, Hungary, and one of the most respected cardinals in the Catholic Church, speaks with Dr. Robert Moynihan, founder and editor of Inside the Vatican magazine, about the Catholic faith in an increasingly secularized world. Erdő, eminent for his intelligence and learning, was chosen by Pope Francis to be the Relator General at the 2014 and 2015 Synods of Bishops. He was also twice elected president of the Council of the Episcopal Conferences of Europe, making him, in a sense, the leading bishop of Europe. In this book, the cardinal speaks forthrightly about the need to "guard the flame" of the traditional Christian faith in the face of all temptations and obstacles. In the end, the book is a courageous call to remain faithful to the faith handed down from the Apostles, whatever the cost.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are stages for every Christian becoming a Son (c.f. Rom 8:18) and this is true even for children raised in the ministry. It is quite similar to a baby, toddler, teenager, to adult stage of life. In the Christian walk there many stages but to name a few: saved, converted, and a son. Each Christian will experience these stages and the first two are perhaps combined for some people, Jesus was always used parables to convey practicality of the gospel in every part of our life. We must be practical as long as we are alive on the earth. Yet our belief and trust must always be maintained in God. In the book of Revelation, God desires for us to be hot or cold, not lukewarm. As a young adult having grown up and around church ministry serving under pastors, and as a pastor's daughter, I have seen pitfalls and successes seeing people being passionate or become lukewarm, kids raised in the ministry, as well as individuals falling away from God there is a Silent Hell Catcher. Prayer, the word of God, and our pursuit of Christ will always be paramount in raising a soul in the kingdom of God and life. We will discuss more in depth in the coming chapters from playing sports as deep as personal prophecy, and maintaining passion for Christ.

But when the drake blood lines began to fail, a perilous expedition was mounted to secure them. Claydon Torcreek survived the fraught mission through uncharted lands in pursuit of a myth that might have secured his people’s future. Instead he found a nightmare. The legendary White Drake was awoken from a millennia-long slumber, with a thirst to reduce the world of men to ashes, and the power to compel an army of Spoiled slaves to do it. Spurred on by a vision he desperately hopes he can trust, Clay and rebel naval officer Corrick Hilemore hijack a warship and head towards the icy southern seas, searching for an ancient secret that may give them and their allies a fighting chance. They are aided on another front by Blood-blessed agent Lizanne Lethridge. The spy and assassin will use her diplomatic status to infiltrate deep into enemy territory on a quest for a device to save them all. As the world burns around them, and the fires of revolution are ignited, these few Blood-blessed are the last hope for all of civilisation.

People lived because she killed. People died because he lived. Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the sultan. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways. Both Zafira and Nasir are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya—but neither wants to be. War is brewing, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the sultan on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds—and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine.

Sixteen-year-old Nina Kane should be worrying about her immortal soul, but she’s too busy trying to actually survive. Her town’s population has been decimated by soul-consuming demons, and souls are in short supply. Watching over her younger sister, Mellie, and scraping together food and money are all that matters. The two of them are a family. They gave up on their deadbeat mom a long time ago. When Nina discovers that Mellie is keeping a secret that threatens their very existence, she’ll do anything to protect her. Because in New Temperance, sins are prosecuted as crimes by the brutal Church and its army of black-robed exorcists. And Mellie’s sin has put her in serious trouble. To keep them both alive, Nina will need to put her trust in Finn, a fugitive with deep green eyes who has already saved her life once and who might just be an exorcist. But what kind of exorcist wears a hoodie? Wanted by the Church and hunted by dark forces, Nina knows she can’t survive on her own. She needs Finn and his group of rogue friends just as much as they need her.
