Book Grundbegriffe der Politik

Download or read book Grundbegriffe der Politik written by Martin Schwarz and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Grundbegriffe der internationalen Politik written by Dominik Sommer and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2003-07-07 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The author presents in this volume a synthesis of his long-term studies on the conceptual history of politics. He offers a rhetorical history of the horizons of conceptualizing politics an activity in terms of nine topoi: irregularity, judgment, policy, deliberation, commitment, contestation, possibility, situation and play & game. He both constructs a schema for conceptualization of the spectrum of activities that are called politics and applies it to British, French and German debates on the concept since the nineteenth century."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Liberty and Landscape

Download or read book Liberty and Landscape written by Olaf Kühne and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-27 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the importance of freedom and liberalism in the context of socialities, individualities and materialities. The authors provide a highly unusual and innovative blending of concepts about space and landscape through a deeply theoretical exploration of liberalism. Liberalism is often problematized in contemporary discussions with regard to gentrification, environmental problems and inequality. In contrast, this book refers to a liberalism that maximizes life chances in the context of dealing with spaces. A connection between freedom and space, based on liberal ideas, provides a much needed theoretical intervention in the fields of social and spatial sciences.

Some topics include the role of mass communication on Egyptian family planning, Russian nationalism, and the Guatemalan peace process.

Book Philosophical Basics of Ecology and Economy

Download or read book Philosophical Basics of Ecology and Economy written by Malte Faber and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2009-09-10 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's world – despite the dramatic anthropogenic environmental changes – a proper understanding of the relationship between humanity and nature requires a certain detachment. The pressing problems in their whole extent will only be fully understood and solved with comprehensive and patient analysis. Accordingly, this book develops new perspectives on fundamental questions of biology, ecology, and the economy, integrated within a framework of a terminology specially devised by the authors. By illuminating the epistemological backgrounds of ecological-economic research, the authors lay foundations for interdisciplinary environmental research and offer guidelines for practical action. In close contact to the findings of present-day biology and economics, they demonstrate the fruitfulness as well as the shortcomings of modern science for the understanding of the proper place of humankind in nature. Many of the book's central concepts are rooted in a tradition whose origins go back to European philosophy and literature of the 17th Century. Frequently current problems in the fields of economics, ecology, politics, philosophy and biology are discussed in a kind of "dialogue" with thinkers and poets like Bacon, Quesnay, Kant, Goethe and Novalis. This approach of the book, known in Continental European Philosophy as hermeneutics, offers a ‘map’, rather than marking out a specific course. On the other hand, the book offers traits of the Anglo-Saxon tradition of thought: a precise, analytical approach to theory and a pragmatic approach to action. Both approaches are used by the authors complementarily. Thus the authors lay the foundations for an ecological economical and political practice which is able to tackle concrete environmental problems on an encompassing and long-term basis. This translated volume will be of great use and interest to students of ecology, economics and in particular environmental education, sustainable development and environmental ethics.
