Book Growth and Characterization of Thin Films of High Performance Microwave Dielectrics

Download or read book Growth and Characterization of Thin Films of High Performance Microwave Dielectrics written by You Li and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microwave dielectrics are widely used to make resonators and filters in telecommunication systems. The production of thin films with high dielectric constant and low loss could potentially enable a marked reduction in the size of devices and systems. However, studies of these materials in thin film form are very sparse. In this research, experiments were carried out on practical high-performance dielectrics.

Download or read book Low Loss Microwave Dielectrics written by Dobbidi Pamu and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives the over view of synthesis and characterization of low loss microwave dielectrics with the example of (Zr0.8Sn0.2)TiO4. The effect of processing parameters and smaller initial particle size on crystal structure, microstructure and on microwave dielectric properties of microwave dielectrics have been studied systematically. The microwave dielectric properties at low temperatures and the impedance spectroscopy of the microwave dielectrics have been reported. Thin films of (Zr0.8Sn0.2)TiO4 have been deposited by DC reactive magnetron sputtering from individual metal targets using single cathode along with its sub oxides (TiO2, ZrO2 and ZrTiO4). The crystal structure, microstructure, optical and electrical properties of the films are reported in detail. The dielectric properties of all the deposited films were reported both at low and at microwave frequencies. The correlations between the structure and microwave dielectric properties of (Zr0.8Sn0.2)TiO4 have been discussed both in bulk and thin film forms.

Book Mechanic and Dielectric Properties

Download or read book Mechanic and Dielectric Properties written by Maurice H. Francombe and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanic and Dielectric Properties deals with the mechanical and dielectric properties of thin films. Topics covered range from the deposition and mechanical properties of superlattice thin films to the preparation of hard coatings by sputtering and arc evaporation. The use of thin films in microwave acoustics is also discussed, along with ferroelectric films for integrated electronics and the physics, chemistry, and technology of electrochromic tungsten-oxide-based thin films. Comprised of five chapters, this volume begins with an analysis of the growth, characterization, and mechanical behavior of films comprising multilayers primarily of metal and refractory metallic compound components. The next chapter reviews the mechanical properties of hard coatings prepared by sputtering and arc evaporation, together with the influence of multilayer and gradient structures, and of film crystallinity, crystal orientation, and morphology, on properties such as hardness, coating smoothness, and friction behavior. Subsequent chapters focus on the unique role played by piezoelectric films in signal processing devices utilizing bulk or surface acoustic waves; the properties and applications of ferroelectric films in integrated electronics; and the underlying physics and chemistry of electrochromic tungsten-oxide-based thin films. This book should be of interest to physicists.

Book Nanostructures in Ferroelectric Films for Energy Applications

Download or read book Nanostructures in Ferroelectric Films for Energy Applications written by Jun Ouyang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2019-07-15 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanostructures in Ferroelectric Films for Energy Applications: Grains, Domains, Interfaces and the Engineering Methods presents methods of engineering nanostructures in ferroelectric films to improve their performance in energy harvesting and conversion and storage. Ferroelectric films, which have broad applications, including the emerging energy technology, usually consist of nanoscale inhomogeneities. For polycrystalline films, the size and distribution of nano-grains determines the macroscopic properties, especially the field-induced polarization response. For epitaxial films, the energy of internal long-range electric and elastic fields during their growth are minimized by formation of self-assembled nano-domains. This book is an accessible reference for both instructors in academia and R&D professionals. Provides the necessary components for the systematic study of the structure-property relationship in ferroelectric thin film materials using case studies in energy applications Written by leading experts in the research areas of piezoelectrics, electrocalorics, ferroelectric dielectrics (especially in capacitive energy storage), ferroelectric domains, and ferroelectric-Si technology Includes a well balanced mix of theoretical design and simulation, materials processing and integration, and dedicated characterization methods of the involved nanostructures
