Book Colossal Magnetoresistive Manganites

Download or read book Colossal Magnetoresistive Manganites written by Tapan Chatterji and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The physics of transition metal oxides has become a central topic of interest to condensed-matter scientists ever since high temperature superconductivity was discovered in hole-doped cuprates with perovskite-like structures. Although the renewed interest in hole-doped perovskite manganites following the discovery of their colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) properties, began in 1993 about a decade after the discovery of high temperature superconductivity, their first investigation started as early as 1950 and basic theoretical ideas were developed during 1951-1960. Experience in sample preparation and characterization, and in growth of single crystals and epitaxial thin films, gained during the research on high temperature superconductors, and the development of theoretical tools, were very efficiently used in research on CMR manganites. In early nineties it appeared to many condensed matter physicists that although the problem of high temperature superconductivity is a difficult one to solve, a quantitative understanding of CMR phenomena might be well within reach. This book is intended to be an account of the latest developments in the phys ics of CMR manganites. When I planned this book back in 2000, I thought that research on the physics of CMR manganites would be more or less consolidated by the time this would be published. I was obviously very optimistic indeed. We are now in 2003 and we still do not have a quantitative understanding of the central CMR effect. Meanwhile the field has expanded. It is still a very active field of research on both the experimental and theoretical fronts.

Book High Temperature Superconductor Thin Films growth Mechanisms interfaces multilayers

Download or read book High Temperature Superconductor Thin Films growth Mechanisms interfaces multilayers written by H.-U. Habermeier and published by Elsevier Science & Technology. This book was released on 1997 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hardbound. The four day EMRS Spring Meeting in Strasbourg, France (June 4 -7 1996) Symposium on High Temperature Superconductor Thin Films: Growth Mechanisms - Interfaces - Multilayers was held in conjunction with the Third Workshop in Europe. The benefit of including the Workshop into the Symposium was the advantage of bringing in an additional far larger and disciplinarily more diverse audience and through the organization of the workshop receiving invited and contributed lectures as well as posters which was supplemental to the main Symposium. The Symposium focused on the specific topics of growth interfaces and multilayers and highlighted the continuing need for there to be active interplay between chemists designing new precursor molecules and depositing thin films, and engineers applying HTS materials with deficiencies and limitations to commercially oriented devices. The majority of papers presented at the Symposium are included in these pro

Book Microstructures and Related Studies of High Temperature Superconductors II

Download or read book Microstructures and Related Studies of High Temperature Superconductors II written by Anant Narlikar and published by Nova Biomedical Books. This book was released on 1999 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The focus of this volume is the microstructures and related aspects of HTS and thus it forms the sequel (or the Part-II) to the earlier Volume 28 of the book series, which also had the microstructures as its mainstay. The chapters comprising the present volume bring out a host of fresh insights into the growth morphology, defect structures and the structure property relationships in various HTS systems. Closely related to the problem of microstructures is the important issue of the damage mechanics involved in the sample processing, which also forms one of the chapters of this volume. Given its interdisciplinary premise that 'Studies of High Temperature Superconductors: is aimed at professional scientists and engineers, as well as graduate students of physics, chemistry, materials science, solid state electronics and engineering'.
