Book Asia Pacific Trusts Law Volume 1

Download or read book Asia Pacific Trusts Law Volume 1 written by Ying Khai Liew and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2021-08-26 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a time when Asia represents the fastest growing economic region, there is no better moment to consider what trusts law can contribute to societal stability and economic prosperity. This book does this by offering the first work that systematically explores trusts law across the region. Many Asian-Pacific jurisdictions have integrated and developed trusts law in their legal systems; either through colonial heritage or statutory activism. But the diversity of legal traditions and local contexts has resulted in trusts laws having a significantly varied impact across the region. In the modern globalised world there is growing need to adopt an outward looking approach in dealing with matters of common interest. This book answers this need by bringing together leading legal scholars and practitioners in the region to explore the theory and practice of trusts law, contextualised to specific jurisdictions in the Asia-Pacific. Exploring 17 jurisdictions in Asia, it bring both an academic and practitioner perspective to trusts law in the region.

Book 50 Days of Prosperity An In Depth Scriptural Look at Living a Prosperous Life

Download or read book 50 Days of Prosperity An In Depth Scriptural Look at Living a Prosperous Life written by George Pearsons and published by Kenneth Copeland Ministries. This book was released on 2011-10-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no question whatsoever that it is God's perfect will for us to prosper. The 50 Days of Prosperity study series began with the two week teaching on the Believer's Voice of Victory broadcast done by Pastor George Pearsons. At the same time Pastor Pearsons was teaching a prosperity series at Eagle Mountain International Church. It was no surprise when the Lord spoke to Pastor Pearsons spirit and told him to teach a television series titled, 10 Days of Prosperity. This teaching material is a direct result of those television broadcasts that Gloria Copeland and Pastor George Pearsons did on the Believer's Voice of Victory broadcast. You are encouraged to immerse yourself in your own "50 Days of Prosperity" - or take whatever time necessary to thoroughly study each outline. This study guide could also be used to conduct your own Bible study with friends and family. God wants you to prosper. But, as we all know, a transformation of the mind takes total immersion in the Word. So, get out your Bibles and notes, and "get with the program!" The results of this Bible study may be found in Psalm 25:13 (NIV): "They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land."

Book In Search of Florentine Civic Humanism Volume 1

Download or read book In Search of Florentine Civic Humanism Volume 1 written by Hans Baron and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hans Baron's Crisis of the Early Italian Renaissance is widely considered one of the most important works in Italian Renaissance studies. Princeton University Press published this seminal book in 1955. Now the Press makes available a two-volume collection of eighteen of Professor Baron's essays, most of them thoroughly revised, unpublished, or presented in English for the first time. Spanning the larger part of his career, they provide a continuation of, and complement to, the earlier book. The essays demonstrate that, contemporaneously with the revolution in art, modern humanistic thought developed in the city-state climate of early Renaissance Florence to a far greater extent than has generally been assumed. The publication of these volumes is a major scholarly event: a reinforcement and amplification of the author's conception of civic Humanism. The book includes studies of medieval antecedents and special studies of Petrarch, Leonardo Bruni, and Leon Battista Alberti. It offers a thoroughly re-conceived profile of Machiavelli, drawn against the background of civic Humanism, as well as essays presenting evidence that French and English Humanism of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries was closely tied to Italian civic thought of the fifteenth. The work culminates in a reassessment of Jacob Burckhardt's pioneering thought on the Renaissance. Originally published in 1988. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Book Free Trade and Prosperity

Download or read book Free Trade and Prosperity written by Arvind Panagariya and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2019-04-01 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arguments for protection and against free trade have seen a revival in developed countries such as the United States and Great Britain as well as developing countries such as India. Given the clear benefits trade openness has brought everywhere, this is a surprising development. The benefits of free trade are especially great for emerging market economies. FreeÂTrade and ProsperityÂoffers the first full-scale defense of pro-free-trade policies with developing countries at its center. Arvind Panagariya, a professor at Columbia University and former top economic advisor to the government of India, supplies a historically informed analysis of many longstanding but flawed arguments for protection. He starts with an insightful overview of the positive case for free trade, and then closely examines the various contentions of protectionists. One protectionist argument is that "infant" industries need time to grow and become competitive, and thus should be sheltered. Other arguments are that emerging markets are especially prone to coordination failures, they are in need of diversification of their production structures, and they suffer from market imperfections. The panoply of protectionist arguments, including those for import substitution industrialization, fails when subject to close logical and empirical scrutiny. Free trade and outward-oriented policies are preconditions to both sustained rapid growth and poverty alleviation in developing countries. Panagariya provides compelling evidence demonstrating the failures of protectionism and the promise of free trade using detailed case studies of successful countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, China and India. Low or declining barriers to free trade and high or rising shares of trade in total income have been key elements in the sustained rapid growth and poverty alleviation in these countries and many others. Free trade is like oxygen: the benefits are ubiquitous and not noticed until they are no longer there. This important book is an essential reminder of the costs of protectionism.

Book Redefining Prosperity

Download or read book Redefining Prosperity written by Isabelle Cassiers and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-08-27 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Society today faces a difficult contradiction: we know exactly how the physical limits of our planet are being reached and exactly why we cannot go on as we have before – and yet, collectively, we seem unable to reach crucial decisions for our future in a timely way. This book argues that our definition of prosperity, which we have long assimilated with the idea of material wealth, may be preventing us from imagining a future that meets essential human aspirations without straining our planet to the breaking point. In other words, redefining prosperity is a necessary and urgent task. This book is the fruit of a long debate among 15 scholars from diverse fields who worked together to bring the depth and nuance of their respective fields to questions that affect us all. The result is a rich, transdisciplinary work that illuminates the philosophical and historical origins of our current definition of prosperity; identifies the complex processes that gave rise to the problems we face today; elucidates the ways in which our contemporary environmental, social, nutritional, economic, political, and cultural crises are interconnected; and explores why a half-century of economic growth has neither increased life satisfaction in the West nor vanquished world poverty. Approaching these broad-ranging questions from the specific standpoints of their disciplines, each of the authors offers thoughts for the future, considering possible escape routes and proposing changes to the way we live, behave, and organise society and public action – changes that actually respond, in an equitable way, to our deepest aspirations. Ultimately, in laying the groundwork for a public debate on this subject, this book poses a question to its readers: what is your definition of prosperity, and what can be done to promote it?

Book The Routledge Handbook on the American Dream

Download or read book The Routledge Handbook on the American Dream written by Robert C. Hauhart and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-07-29 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do we mean by the American dream? Can we define it? Or does any discussion of the phrase end inconclusively, the solid turned liquid—like ice melting? Do we know whether the American dream motivates and inspires or, alternately, obscures and deceives? The Routledge Handbook on the American Dream offers distinctive, authoritative, original essays by well-known scholars that address the social, economic, historical, philosophic, legal, and cultural dimensions of the American dream for the twenty-first century. The American dream, first discussed and defined in print by James Truslow Adams’s The Epic of America (1931), has become nearly synonymous with being American. Adams’s definition, although known to scholars, is often lost in our ubiquitous use of the term. When used today, the iconic phrase seems to encapsulate every fashion, fad, trend, association, or image the user identifies with the United States or American life. The American dream’s ubiquity, though, argues eloquently for a deeper understanding of its heritage, its implications, and its impact—to be found in this first research handbook ever published on the topic.
