Book Group Properties Of The Acoustic Differential Equation

Download or read book Group Properties Of The Acoustic Differential Equation written by L V Poluyanov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1995-05-24 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is an addition to the existing literature about the symmetrical properties of sound waves. The authors clarify the algebraic and analytical nature of the dynamic acoustic problem. Operator equations which are typical for linear systems and the more general Lie method are considered, which can be applied even to nonlinear problems. The information obtained allows the reader to construct different types of analytical solutions of the different acoustic equation. The acoustic differential equation describes sound waves in elastic media. If the media is non-homogeneous then the acoustic equation is generally very complicated and its exact solutions or analytical solutions may be considered as rare. This volume applies Lie algebra and Lie group techniques to separate independent variables and obtains exact analytical solutions. Special attention is paid to homogeneous and non-homogeneous media with different symmetry properties. The full wave acoustic equation is considered as well as the so-called phase acoustic equation which arises in the short-wave approximation.

Book Stochastic Models Information Theory and Lie Groups Volume 1

Download or read book Stochastic Models Information Theory and Lie Groups Volume 1 written by Gregory S. Chirikjian and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-09-02 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique two-volume set presents the subjects of stochastic processes, information theory, and Lie groups in a unified setting, thereby building bridges between fields that are rarely studied by the same people. Unlike the many excellent formal treatments available for each of these subjects individually, the emphasis in both of these volumes is on the use of stochastic, geometric, and group-theoretic concepts in the modeling of physical phenomena. Stochastic Models, Information Theory, and Lie Groups will be of interest to advanced undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and practitioners working in applied mathematics, the physical sciences, and engineering. Extensive exercises and motivating examples make the work suitable as a textbook for use in courses that emphasize applied stochastic processes or differential geometry.

Topics include: Harmonic analysis Big data analytics and applications Biomathematics Computer engineering and applications Economics and financial engineering Medical imaging and non-destructive testing This volume is ideal for engineers and researchers working in technological fields that need to be modeled and simulated using the tools of modern mathematics.

Book Nonlinear Acoustics Fundamentals and Applications

Download or read book Nonlinear Acoustics Fundamentals and Applications written by B.O. Enflo and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2008-06-25 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These are the proceedings of the 18th International Symposium on Nonlinear Acoustics (ISNA).The ISNA series, held once every three years, is the premier symposium devoted to the field of nonlinear acoustics. Nonlinear acoustical phenomena appear when the sound amplitude is sufficiently large. Then the sound wave is deformed and shocks and sound of new frequencies are created. Earthquake and sonic booms are undesired nonlinear acoustical phenomena; nondestructive testing and cancer sound beam therapy are useful nonlinear acoustical applications. This book is unique in bringing into relief the common physical foundation of so different phenomena and applications.

Download or read book Understanding Acoustics written by Steven L. Garrett and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-02-24 with total page 913 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook provides a unified approach to acoustics and vibration suitable for use in advanced undergraduate and first-year graduate courses on vibration and fluids. The book includes thorough treatment of vibration of harmonic oscillators, coupled oscillators, isotropic elasticity, and waves in solids including the use of resonance techniques for determination of elastic moduli. Drawing on 35 years of experience teaching introductory graduate acoustics at the Naval Postgraduate School and Penn State, the author presents a hydrodynamic approach to the acoustics of sound in fluids that provides a uniform methodology for analysis of lumped-element systems and wave propagation that can incorporate attenuation mechanisms and complex media. This view provides a consistent and reliable approach that can be extended with confidence to more complex fluids and future applications. Understanding Acoustics opens with a mathematical introduction that includes graphing and statistical uncertainty, followed by five chapters on vibration and elastic waves that provide important results and highlight modern applications while introducing analytical techniques that are revisited in the study of waves in fluids covered in Part II. A unified approach to waves in fluids (i.e., liquids and gases) is based on a mastery of the hydrodynamic equations. Part III demonstrates extensions of this view to nonlinear acoustics. Engaging and practical, this book is a must-read for graduate students in acoustics and vibration as well as active researchers interested in a novel approach to the material.
