Book Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads

Download or read book Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads written by Jan Robert Wright and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-02-08 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aircraft performance is influenced significantly both by aeroelastic phenomena, arising from the interaction of elastic, inertial and aerodynamic forces, and by load variations resulting from flight and ground manoeuvres and gust / turbulence encounters. There is a strong link between aeroelasticity and loads, and these topics have become increasingly integrated in recent years. Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads introduces the reader to the main principles involved in a wide range of aeroelasticity and loads topics. Divided into three sections, the book begins by reviewing the underlying disciplines of vibrations, aerodynamics, loads and control. It goes on to describe simplified models to illustrate aeroelastic behaviour and aircraft response before introducing more advanced methodologies. Finally, it explains how industrial certification requirements for aeroelasticity and loads may be met and relates these to the earlier theoretical approaches used. Presents fundamentals of structural dynamics, aerodynamics, static and dynamic aeroelasticity, response and load calculations and testing techniques. Covers performance issues related to aeroelasticity such as flutter, control effectiveness, divergence and redistribution of lift. Includes up-to-date experimental methods and analysis. Accompanied by a website with MatLAB and SIMULINK programs that relate to the models used. Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads enables the reader to understand the aeroelastic and loads principles and procedures employed in a modern aircraft design office. It will appeal to final year undergraduate and masters students as well as engineers who are new to the aerospace industry.

Book Introduction to Aeroelasticity

Download or read book Introduction to Aeroelasticity written by Harijono Djojodihardjo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-03 with total page 1080 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook is intended as a core text for courses on aeroelasticity or aero-elasto-mechanics for senior undergraduate/graduate programs in aerospace and mechanical engineering. The book focuses on the basic understanding of the concepts required in learning about aeroelasticity, from observation, reasoning, and understanding fundamental physical principles. Fundamental and simple mathematics will be introduced to describe the features of aeroelastic problems, and to devise simple concurrent physical and mathematical modeling. It will be accompanied by the introduction and understandings of the mechanisms that create the interactions that generate the aeroelastic phenomena considered. The students will also be led to the relation between observed phenomena, assumptions that may have to be adopted to arrive at physical and mathematical modelling, interpreting and verifying the results, and the accompanied limitations, uncertainties and inaccuracies. The students will also be introduced to combine engineering problem solving attitude and determination with simple mechanics problem-solving skills that coexist harmoniously with a useful mechanical intuition.

Book Ground Vibration and Flight Flutter Tests of the Single Seat F 16xl Aircraft with a Modified Wing

Download or read book Ground Vibration and Flight Flutter Tests of the Single Seat F 16xl Aircraft with a Modified Wing written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-08 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NASA single-seat F-16XL aircraft was modified by the addition of a glove to the left wing. Vibration tests were conducted on the ground to assess the changes to the aircraft caused by the glove. Flight Luther testing was conducted on the aircraft with the glove installed to ensure that the flight envelope was free of aeroelastic or aeroservoelastic instabilities. The ground vibration tests showed that above 20 Hz, several modes that involved the control surfaces were significantly changed. Flight test data showed that modal damping levels and trends were satisfactory where obtainable. The data presented in this report include estimated modal parameters from the ground vibration and flight flutter test. Voracek, David F. Armstrong Flight Research Center...

Book An Improved Ground Vibration Test Method Volume I Research Report

Download or read book An Improved Ground Vibration Test Method Volume I Research Report written by David W. Gimmestad and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research was conducted to develop an improved method for ground vibration testing of airplanes. The resulting method, a single point excitation-frequency response analysis method, utilizes the computer, modern electronic equipment, developments in vibration testing theory and improvements in mechanical system design to accomplish ground vibration tests at greatly reduced cost while significantly improving accuracy. A demonstration ground vibration test was conducted using the improved method on an A-10 Airplane. (Author).
