Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published between 1944 and 1953, Poyln (Poland) is one of the treasures of Yiddish literature. Despite its reputation, the book has not been fully translated into English until now. Written by Yehiel Yeshaia Trunk, a prominent Polish Jewish writer, Poyln is a colourful epic, a moving testimony, and an important primary historical source that presents a portrait of Polish Jewry against the backdrop of the Nazi genocide. The undisputed hero of the story is the national community of Polish Jews. To portray this community, Trunk creates a rich gallery of characters - Hassidic patricians, timber merchants, rich landowners, brilliant Talmudists, Orthodox rabbis, and Hasidic tsadikim. He also depicts ordinary village and small-town Jews, artisans, shopkeepers, workers, and Luftmenschen, all of them members of one extended family. Particularly valuable aspects of Poyln are its examination of different trends in the Hasidic movement and the author's attempt to bridge the gap between his secular generation and its religious ancestors. In short, Trunk's work aims to show Jewishness as a way of life. This is the first instalment of a multi-volume edition of Poyln, the first English translation to be published. Here begins a story of the beauty and pathos of the world of Polish Jewry, a world that was almost totally destroyed by the Nazis.

Book Not Buying It

Download or read book Not Buying It written by Brett Graff and published by Seal Press. This book was released on 2016-03-29 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most parents will do just about anything to secure happy lives and bright futures for their kids. Add in competition with other parents and near-constant pressure, their drive to give their kids the best of everything can backfire, setting back the child and the household finances. Brett Graff, "The Home Economist," exposes how overspending can harm children by setting back intellect and encouraging narcissism, depression and unhealthy or unsafe habits. By unearthing research on pricey baby gear, oversized houses, so-called "educational" toys and after-school lessons, expensive sports equipment and private coaching, even certain organic products and unregulated "natural" medicines—she even has eye-opening findings on private schools versus public schools—Graff proves that we can spend too much getting our kids ahead and wind up instead setting them back. Not Buying It proves that sound, rational decision-making about spending is far more beneficial for our kids than purchases made out of fear, pressure and confusion. With Graff's guidance, you'll confidently create the financial strategy that's best for your family, not the one pushed by marketers or practiced by your neighbors. Not Buying It is your blueprint for emotional and financial freedom, and the stability your children deserve.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is the summer of 1914 and Britain teeters on the brink of war. Society girl, Millicent Awbridge, is oblivious to the impending conflict and preoccupied with the recent shooting of her horse. When she confronts the culprit, Ryan O'Flynn, a groom in her father's service, Millie finds romance rather than hostility. The encounter sparks a series of events that brings Millie's burgeoning womanhood to fruition. Millie and Ryan's affair is conducted in secret but Millie's aunt has her suspicions and is determined to bring an end to it. Inevitably, the war also impacts on the young people's lives and others are implicated in the muddle. Will Millie and Ryan ever be truly united? A subtle romance, set in England during the First World War. "Millicent is vivacious, endearing and determined. I truly enjoyed her character a great deal from the first page to the last. She reminded me of Sybil from Downton Abbey; in fact, this novel has other overtones from that drama," (Romantic Historical Reviews). "As a romance, it ticks all the right boxes, and it’s a pleasure to see it come with a well-written story behind it. Readers looking for a HEA will certainly enjoy it," (4-star review, Bookangel.co.uk).

Book excerpt: As a Reintroduction, I’m here to offer and help as a positive guide to get our minds back to thinking, back to fighting, back to handling day-to-day life challenges. Yes, I, too, have been beaten, broken to pieces, laughed at, and had life pull me apart like puzzle. One thing I can say is I’m thankful to have my right mind, health, strength, breath in my body, the ability to speak, walk, and give someone some of what’s in me. The Reintroduction is introduced to help find that champion, that winner to bring out the best you. To help you understand God has not left you. He is waiting for you. Many of us, including myself, have asked the question, “If God wants me to do something, why he won’t do it himself?” Well, I’m here as a witness to say on behalf of God, when you want some new clothes or shoes, they don’t just come to you. You have to go get them. When someone needs you, they come get you and you assist until the job or calling is done. So you have to pray, meditate, and talk to God every day to develop your peace of mind for yourself.

Download or read book God Amends written by Emmanuel Goka and published by ShieldCrest. This book was released on 2018-06-29 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Don’t read God Amends only as a recreational novel. Read it with a deductive and questioning mind. It will enrich you more than a few moments of a (recreational) high. If you do that, you will gain understanding into mysteries that you must know. And with that understanding, you will be enveloped into a greater and blessed future and new Earth. In God Amends you will be exposed to terms such as ‘sexual health celebration’ or ‘sexual health sharing’. The two terms mean one and the same thing, and are used to refer to sexual relations between a woman and a man – a woman and a man who desire to understand the power, the authority, and the awesomeness of the mystery of sexual acts, and to obtain the multiple benefits when they actively play their roles mutually, as did the men and women in the novel who reaped enduring benefits. Another term used is, ‘the people of the nations in the various countries of the world’, to refer to all other classes of people as distinct from the Melon Elembele family members. Great reading, and share the knowledge you’ve gained with others, or buy God Amends as a gift for her or him.
