Book excerpt: "The single greatest work of theology of the past century. I'm reading it right now, in Heaven, because I'm dead."-Saint Pius X"You are blocked from following @taylorrmarshall and viewing @taylorrmarshalll's tweets."-Dr. Taylor Marshall, author of InfiltrationIn a year when everything seemed to be going wrong with the world, Tony Ginocchio noticed that there were a lot of Catholics in American public life who seemed to be making everything even worse, and that didn't make him feel great as a Catholic himself. Over the course of a year, he became obsessed with the conspiracy-spouting, extremely online, reactionary wing of the American Catholic church, and how they all got that way. Enduring self-published PDFs, blogging canon lawyers, low-budget anti-abortion propaganda films, endless YouTube interview shows, janky merch websites, and a very bad country album, he put together these obsessively researched, gleefully unauthorized, and searingly funny essays on the weirdest, dumbest, and saddest members of his church, in an attempt to find out how American Catholicism ended up here in 2020, and maybe what we can do about it. This edition includes revised and expanded versions of the 2019-2020 essays originally published as part of the Grift of the Holy Spirit newsletter.

A companion piece to Levering's Engaging the Doctrine of Revelation, this work critically engages contemporary and classical doctrines of the Holy Spirit in dialogue with Orthodox and Reformed interlocutors. Book The Holy Spirit Calling

Download or read book The Holy Spirit Calling written by A. L. Istener and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-10-01 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is being published as gift to the Chaminade-Nativity Community of Faith - It is they who brought me from a very dark place into the light. They restored my faith and gave me hope. Like Ezekiel’s vision (37) in the graveyard, I received the Holy Spirit and came to life! This is my gift to them. I have published it to preserve 40 years of private revelation given to me by the Holy Spirit. I believe that the Lord wants it published to remind us that we are well loved, that he is alive and well in his church, and that He died for all mankind. In the Catholic Church, these words are considered “private revelation”, as distinguished from the Scriptures or the official teachings and doctrine of the Catholic Church. As such, they require consultation and discernment as to their authenticity. Before publication they were submitted to the Magisterium of the Archdiocese of Miami (as the conscience of the community) and found to be free of doctrinal or moral error. This process is known as receiving the Imprimatur – see on page 3. As members of the Charismatic Renewal part of each meeting is devoted to listening to the Lord and speaking out a word He may have for us. We call it “prophecy”. Its authenticity is discerned by the community. We believe that prophecy is one of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit given to us to guide, correct, encourage, and build community, reminding us that God remains with His church and continues to reveal Himself to us. Prophecy is ordinarily spoken out spontaneously, not written as mine is. Over the years I wondered why my prophecy was written, until I started to prepare this book for publication. It was then that I realized that He knew 40 years ago that He wanted this book to be published. Had they been given spontaneously they would not have been written down and I would not have had them to publish. It had taken me 40 years to see it. Two books, God Calling and Jesus Calling were the inspiration for the title of the book. These two authors, looking for a reason to go on living, found no consolation in their desperate prayers. In a final effort they decided to pray as usual, listen and write down anything they thought could be a response from God. In their listening a dialogue began that flowered into relationship. Something interesting happened in the process of publication. Because many people, when they read some of the words thought that it was poetry I had written myself, I wanted to assure that everyone knew that I was not the author of the book but that I was, like the other two authors, only a listener and collector of the words. This was made clear in the Introduction and Conclusion of the book. After much thought I decided that under these circumstances it would be best to use a pen name rather than my own and had fun picking one out – A.L. Istener (a listener). After sending the name in to the publisher I had lunch with a friend and colleague who is Hungarian. “Isten”, she said, means “God” in Hungarian. He had figured that out too. Oddity: Most of the words have no punctuation – After praying about it, my understanding is that those who know his voice know his inflections also, which makes punctuation unnecessary. I like the sound of it better myself without it. It is my hope that those who read this book do so using the following method – His favorite invitation “Come here, climb into My arms. Let Me cradle you right here, close to My heart. Can you hear it beating? I just want to love you.” I guarantee that you will be able to recognize his voice too.

Dr. Asare combines theological insights with practical applications to help readers experience the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. By understanding that the Holy Spirit is essentially the presence of Jesus Christ, believers can cultivate a deeper relationship with God and experience His divine influence in their daily lives. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, God's overall plan for the church aligns us with His purpose and plan for the manifestation of the son of God, "To destroy the works of the devil"(1 John 3:8). This book, The Gifts of the Holy Spirit: To Destroy the Works of the Devil, is about God's path for our lives to the church and purpose for our lives within the church. "Devil" simply means "liar." All Satan's machinations, strategies, atrocities, and crimes are built on his lies, however and whenever they are manifested. The manifestation of God's truth in our lives vigorously counteracts the works of the liar. God's truth heals the devastating effects that these lies have had on us personally, our communities, and our society at large. More than just a transmission of confusing facts and figures to let you know how smart I am, this book takes the truth of God's Word and helps you connect the dots with the intention of painting a clearer picture of your purpose in Christ as a son of God and therefore the purpose of the "Christ in you." The resulting portrait allows the reader to align our Christlike responsibility to work with God, with our Holy Ghost given gifts, abilities, and opportunities to motivate positive personal changes but also, collectively as sons of God, dynamic changes in our society...indeed-the world.

He matures the believer and purges the dross from our lives.Without His fire in and on our lives, we are powerless to live for Him. Book The Power of the Holy Spirit

Download or read book The Power of the Holy Spirit written by Christina Asare and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2024-06-22 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians today are misinformed about the identity and nature of the Holy Spirit. Some believe that He is some form of influence like a wind, force or fire. However, believers need to seek and understand the truth concerning the Holy Spirit to deepen their understanding of the nature of God or the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God's Spirit, and Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh. In other words, the best way to identify the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost, as used interchangeably, is to see Him as Jesus Christ, who walked on the earth with His disciples without His body. This understanding leads us to believe that the Holy Spirit is essentially the presence of Jesus Christ, as God Himself is a Spirit. In Second Corinthians 3:17, Paul says, "Now the Lord is that Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Paul is saying that the same Jesus Christ who was with the disciples over two thousand years ago is the same who has manifested as the Holy Spirit and is living inside believers today. The Holy Spirit is God's Spirit, and Jesus Christ is God.

Book The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit

Download or read book The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit written by George Smeaton and published by Ravenio Books. This book was released on 2013-05-11 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: George Smeaton (1814–-89) was a theologian in the Free Church of Scotland, and a contemporary of Robert Murray McCheyne and the brothers Andrew and Horatius Bonar. He is best known for his twin volumes, "Christ's Doctrine of the Atonement" and "The Apostles' Doctrine of the Atonement." In "The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit" Smeaton brings biblical, theological and historical light to bear on the following topics: The Personality and Procession of the Holy Spirit The Work of the Spirit in the Anointing of Christ The Work of the Holy Spirit in Connection with Revelation and Inspiration The Spirit’s Regenerating Work on the Individual The Spirit of Holiness The Work of the Holy Spirit in the Church Writes Smeaton, "Previous to His resurrection Christ had been the receiver of the Spirit, and the Spirit was mainly limited to Christ’s own Person. With His resurrection the day came when He showed that the great result of His atoning death was the power of bestowing the Spirit upon others, a blessing so momentous that it may be described as that in which all other blessings are included. This is the grandest display of Christ’s exaltation—the culminating point,— arguing at once reward and divine dignity. For no mere servant could occupy the position of conferring upon others the gift of the Spirit, who is a divine Person. He only who had put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself, and who had the Spirit to bestow, could exercise the authority of sending Him. The Spirit was given by the risen Christ to equip His ministers and to be the all-directing as well as sanctifying power in the kingdom of heaven which was now set up, as had been expressly promised by the Old Testament prophets and by the Lord Himself (Ps. lxviii. 19; John xvi. 16)."
