  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2010-04-06
  • ISBN : 1450074006
  • Pages : 93 pages

Download or read book Green Eggs and Manna written by Judith Burkhardt and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-04-06 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an easy-read motivational and inspirational book filled with scripture passages. It focuses on the practical, daily application of God ́s Word, the Bible, as our daily manna or bread from heaven. Moses spoke to the Israelites as they made ready to cross over the Jordan into the Promised Land. He would not be going with them, so he reminded the people of every good thing that God had taught them and had given to them on their journey. “Man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.” Deuteronomy 8:2–3. Reviews: The two greatest gifts you can give any person is the Word of God and prayer. You did a masterful job with both. I also was impressed with how you presented a synopsis of the Gospel of the birth, life, death, resurrection, and return of Christ, as well as presenting the wrath that awaits those that reject Jesus. Your knowledge of the Word and your love for God and people oozed from every page. Debbie and I both felt that the book was chocked full of the Word of God and the scriptures were used in context to present both your heart and the heart of God toward humanity. It was both simple and profound as are all true presentations of the Gospel. Thank you for your confidence in my life to even ask my opinion and thank you for giving us the book. It once again reminded us of the greatness of our God and His love toward all of us. We hope our comments encourage you to continue to allow God to use your life for His glory. —Pastor Rick Clendenon, world-renowned christian speaker

Some of it is easily discovered, but many parts remain difficult or impossible for the human eye to see. Until now. The Living Forest is a visual journey that immerses you deep into the woods. • Author : James K. Hoffmeier
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press
  • Release : 2005-10-06
  • ISBN : 0198035403
  • Pages : 359 pages

Download or read book Ancient Israel in Sinai written by James K. Hoffmeier and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2005-10-06 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his pathbreaking Israel in Egypt James K. Hoffmeier sought to refute the claims of scholars who doubt the historical accuracy of the biblical account of the Israelite sojourn in Egypt. Analyzing a wealth of textual, archaeological, and geographical evidence, he put forth a thorough defense of the biblical tradition. Hoffmeier now turns his attention to the Wilderness narratives of Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. As director of the North Sinai Archaeological Project, Hoffmeier has led several excavations that have uncovered important new evidence supporting the Wilderness narratives, including a major New Kingdom fort at Tell el-Borg that was occupied during the Israelite exodus. Hoffmeier employs these archaeological findings to shed new light on the route of the exodus from Egypt. He also investigates the location of Mount Sinai, and offers a rebuttal to those who have sought to locate it in northern Arabia and not in the Sinai peninsula as traditionally thought. Hoffmeier addresses how and when the Israelites could have lived in Sinai, as well as whether it would have been possible for Moses to write down the law received at Mount Sinai. Building on the new evidence for the Israelite sojourn in Egypt, Hoffmeier explores the Egyptian influence on the Wilderness tradition. For example, he finds Egyptian elements in Israelite religious practices, including the use of the tabernacle, and points to a significant number of Egyptian personal names among the generation of the exodus. The origin of Israel is a subject of much debate and the wilderness tradition has been marginalized by those who challenge its credibility. In Ancient Israel in Sinai, Hoffmeier brings the Wilderness tradition to the forefront and makes a case for its authenticity based on solid evidence and intelligent analysis.

Book They Eat That

  • Pages : 251 pages

Download or read book They Eat That written by Jonathan Deutsch and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2012-01-16 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thoroughly engaging encyclopedia considers the rich diversity of unfamiliar foods eaten around the world. The title They Eat That?: A Cultural Encyclopedia of Weird and Exotic Food from around the World says it all. This fun encyclopedia, organized A–Z, describes and offers cultural context for foodstuffs people eat today that might be described as "weird"—at least to the American palate. Entries also include American regional standards, such as scrapple and chitterlings, that other regions might find distasteful, as well as a few mainstream American foods, like honey, that are equally odd when one considers their derivation. A long narrative entry on insects, for example, discusses the fact that insects are enjoyed as a regular part of the diet in some Asian, South and Central American, and African countries. It then looks at the kinds of insects eaten, where and how they are eaten, cultural uses, nutrition, and preparation. Each of the encyclopedia's 100 entries includes a representative recipe or, for a food already prepared like maggoty cheese, describes how it is eaten. Each entry ends with suggested readings.
