The book is divided into sections of Laws and Decrees, Catalogues and Boundary Stones, Public Monuments and Dedications, Sepulchral Monuments (Greek, Roman, and Byzantine), and Byzantine Monuments other than Sepulchral Monuments." Pt. 2: "This presentation of 226 Latin inscriptions found during the early years of excavation at Corinth is divided into two main sections: Inscriptions of the Republican period and Inscriptions of the Imperial Period. Each inscribed piece of stone is described in detail and any readable texts are transcribed and commented on." Pt. 3: "The inscriptions found in the excavations at Corinth between 1926 and 1950 are published here which, although fragmentary, provide significant new evidence for the history of Greece in the Roman period. Here the Greek texts before 44 B.C. number only 49; the bulk of the volume deals with 451 texts, both Greek and Latin, of the Roman Imperial period, 220 Greek texts of the Late Roman and Early Byzantine period and 17 after A.D. 800. Published here are inscriptions on monuments commemorating events or victories, on statues or other representations erected to honor individuals and deities, and on votive offerings to divinities. Most are dated to between the 4th century B.C. and the 2nd century A.D., but a few survive from the Archaic and Late Roman periods. A final section contains monuments that are potentially, but not certainly, dedicatory in character, and a small number of grave markers omitted from Agora XVII. Each of the 773 catalogue entries includes a description of the object inscribed, bibliography, a transcription of the Greek text, and commentary. There are photographs of each piece of which no adequate illustration has yet been published, including newly joined fragments. The volume concludes with concordances and six indexes.

Book excerpt: This volume discusses the important, mainly Roman, buildings at the east end of the Corinthian Agora; the Julian Basilica and the Southeast Building, the South Basilica (immediately behind the South Stoa), and the Mosaic House adjoining it. The Southeast Building is described first in its present state, and then as it must have looked in its two main periods of use, soon after 44 B.C. and in the second quarter of the 1st century A.D. It was probably known in ancient times as the Tabularium or Library of Corinth. The adjoining Julian Basilica was, with the South Basilica, built about A.D. 40; the interior colonnades of both were rebuilt in marble in the Hadrianic period. These basilicas have a cryptoporticus on the ground floor and on the main floor an interior colonnade supporting a clerestory and three exedras. Detailed descriptions of each building are followed by a reconstruction of the pair and by a comparative discussion of floor plans. Finally, the Mosaic House is discussed and analysis of the mosaics date it about 200 A.D.
