Book excerpt: In this classic spiritual guide, Paramahansa Yogananda dispels the myth that God is beyond our reach. He points out that it is not only possible to talk with God but to receive definite responses to our prayers. Defining the Lord as both the transcendent, universal Spirit and the intimately personal Father, Mother, Friend, and Lover of all, he helps us to realize how close that infinite and all-loving Being is to each one of us. He also explains how we can make our prayers so powerful and persuasive that they will bring a tangible response. How You Can Talk with God is a favorite of spiritual seekers around the world, showing readers how to pray with greater intimacy to create a deep and fulfilling personal relationship with the Divine. This is a book to keep by the bedside, discovering with each reading new gems of inspiration and wisdom. Read less

Book Waiting for the End of the World

Download or read book Waiting for the End of the World written by Tsvetelin Stepanov and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-10-21 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The French president Charles de Gaulle spoke of a Europe “from the Atlantic to the Urals”. Europe was spatially formed with these topographic parameters from the late 10th century onwards, with the massive Christianization of its inhabitants. At that time, however, all three monotheistic religions already had a steady presence there. Could such a macro-space be thought-and-narrated from a macro-perspective, in view of its medieval past? This has already been done through common ʻdenominatorsʻ such as the Migration Period, wars, trade, spread of Christianity. Could it also be seen through a common religious-philosophical and spiritual phenomenon – the Anticipation of the End of the world among Christians, Muslims, and Jews? This book gives a positive answer to the last question.

Book THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF REV IVAN VORONAEV

Download or read book THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF REV IVAN VORONAEV written by Dony Donev and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-02-26 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both papers included in this book were presented at the Society for Pentecostal Studies. The first paper, although heavily edited to fit the format, was published in vol. 30 (2010) of Assemblies of God Heritage magazine under a new title, "Ivan Voronaev: Slavic Pentecostal Pioneer and Martyr." Some of the historical data we presented in the article was published openly for the first time. Our research was further mentioned in the December, 2010 AG Heritage editorial. The Bulgarian "Evangel" also published our translations of Voronaev's correspondence. In 2011, Vladimir Franchuk, translated parts of the Voronaev's papers in Russian and included it in his book "Revival: from the center of Odessa to the ends of Russia," thus making our research available to the Slavic people just in time for the 90th Anniversary from the beginning of Ivan Voronaev's Pentecostal ministry in Russia. Unfortunately, with all this interest, little attention was given to the second paper concerning the Voronaev children until now.

Book Old Testament Quotations in the New Testament

Download or read book Old Testament Quotations in the New Testament written by Gleason L. Archer and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2005-01-26 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "New Testament writers drew heavily from Old Testament Scriptures as the demonstrated the fulfillment of the plan and promises of God in Christ. The New Testament is filled with such quotations, but their use raises several problems. How do we account for the occasions when the New Testament writers seem to take liberties with the Hebrew text, or when the wording of other New Testament citations of the Old Testament is closer to the Greek Septuagint (LXX) than to the original Hebrew? [The authors] have undertaken a systematic study of the use of Old Testament quotations in the New Testament. In three parallel columns for ready reference and study they have affixed the Masoretic Hebrew, Septuagint, and Greek New Testament texts pertinent to each quotation. A fourth column-- the largest segment of the valulable language tool--provides a critical commentary of orthographic, linguistic, and textual notes on the 312 entries. In addition, the authors include the results of a statistical survey in which every quotation is assigned to one of six levels to determine its degree of difficulty regarding the faithfulness of the New Testament to the Old Testament quotation. Helpful introductory material, including complete cross-references to the tool in both Old and New Testament order, make the work invaluable to scholars and students alike" -- BOOK JACKET from Moody Press.
