Download or read book The U S City in Transition written by Barbara Hahn and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-07-21 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. city is undergoing constant change. In the East and Midwest, most cities were founded as trading posts on waterways. They boomed during the industrial era and reached their population peak in the mid-20th century, before suburbanization and deindustrialization caused them to decline in importance. Traces of decay were everywhere, and the prognosis for the future was conceivably poor. As Barbara Hahn shows in her book, this trend now seems to have been broken: Things are looking up again for the US city. Some of the former industrial cities have succeeded in structural change. In the south and west of the country, cities have developed into new growth centers. However, not all cities are benefiting from this positive development, and many continue to shrink at an alarming rate. As the author points out, similar processes such as neoliberalisation, deregulation, privatisation and gentrification can be observed in all cities, regardless of their location and level of development. Due to the large number of didactically prepared graphics, the book is suitable as a study read for students and scholars. The characteristics of the U.S. city, which are elaborated on the basis of current examples, as well as the illustrative photos also illustrate the change of the U.S. city to the interested reader.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The meta church is a group of culturally varied congregations combined together as one family with one dream that can only be fulfilled by our differences combined together as a fulfillment of the priestly prayer of Jesus Christ. If youre looking for the hard science of what it takes to build a thriving church, look no further than Dr. Whites Astoundingly Joyful, Amazingly Simple. Biblically sound and culturally relevant, Dr. Whites strategy reveals the secrets every church leader longs for. More importantly, he has put them into practice at his amazing church, Washington Cathedral. If youre in church leadership, you dont want to miss out on this transforming message. Dr. Les Parrott, Author of Love Talk Like the TV commercial where theyre building an airplane while flying it, Dr. Tim White reworks todays institutional church while reading the Book of Acts. Readers feel both his passion and his struggle, but we also see the joy and simplicity of the model represented by Washington Cathedral. Their meta approach involves Tiny Little Churches that undergird everything they do, nonprofit foundations that minister to the community, and diverse cultural congregations that share the singular dream of building the greatest care network the world has ever seen. If you want practical ways for your church to move closer to the ideals found in the Book of Acts, this book is for you. Dr. Warren Bird, Research Director for Leadership Network, and co-author of Better Together: Making Healthy Church Mergers Work Whites book is born out of a 25-year education in the school of hard knocks in founding and leading Washington Cathedral into one of the most profoundly incarnational churches in North America. Download or read book Collaboration in Government written by David E. McNabb and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-11-29 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprehensively explores the many different forms of collaboration in government, both formal and informal, including strategic alliances, intergovernmental networks, and public-private partnerships. Contemporary US governmental and public organizations are changing to better cope after several decades of pressures to downsize, as well as to deliver new services with declining resources and, in many cases, decaying infrastructure. To meet these challenges, public managers are developing new networks, partnerships, collaborations, alliances and coalitions to deliver government services. Collaboration in Government is designed to help public organizations parse the new and emerging forms of public partnerships and to develop the skills needed to manage them. Each chapter offers examples of how each type has been used in real public organizations, providing the reader with an understanding of how these partnerships may be applied in a variety of contexts, as well as lessons that may be gleaned from the successes (and failures) of these collaborative models. This book will be of interest to public servants who collaborate in their daily work, as well as students of public administration and public policy.
