Book Great Grandma s Guidelines to Prevent Childhood Accidents

Download or read book Great Grandma s Guidelines to Prevent Childhood Accidents written by Florence Parry and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-07 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to bring about a general community awareness of ALREADY KNOWN CONTRIBUTING FACTORS and PRECAUTIONS that can be taken to prevent the constant re-occurrence of PREDICTABLE childhood accidents that occur to children aged from 0 to 14 years of age. PREVENTION is BETTER than CURE - SOMETIMES there is NO CURE When a baby is born, the parents are not magically bestowed with "all the knowledge and skills of child rearing". This has to be learned. "NOT the HARD WAY by TRIAL and ERROR" Rearing children in such a way can lead to a child having to pay a very high price for his learning experience and the Carer' at the time of the accident become deeply affected by feelings of regret and sorrow. It makes more sense for parents to FIND OUT BEFORE rather than AFTER an accident has occurred the precautions they could have taken. IF ONLY THEY HAD KNOWN.

Book World Report on Child Injury Prevention

Download or read book World Report on Child Injury Prevention written by M. M. Peden and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2008 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Child injuries are largely absent from child survival initiatives presently on the global agenda. Through this report, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund and many partners have set out to elevate child injury to a priority for the global public health and development communities. It should be seen as a complement to the UN Secretary-General's study on violence against children released in late 2006 (that report addressed violence-related or intentional injuries). Both reports suggest that child injury and violence prevention programs need to be integrated into child survival and other broad strategies focused on improving the lives of children. Evidence demonstrates the dramatic successes in child injury prevention in countries which have made a concerted effort. These results make a case for increasing investments in human resources and institutional capacities. Implementing proven interventions could save more than a thousand children's lives a day.--p. vii.

Book Child Safe

Download or read book Child Safe written by Mark A. Brandenburg and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone who has children knows just how easily they can get hurt. Each year, for example, approximately 9,000 infants suffer injuries related to their high chairs. Thousands more are poisoned by common household substances. In total, more than 25 million children are injured annually, and more than 12,000 kids under the age of 14 succumb to their injuries. What makes these incidents even more tragic is that they can be prevented--if only parents knew how. Well, now they will. Written by an emergency physician, Child Safe is a practical parenting book that will help keep babies and young children out of trouble. It will help parents recognize the dangers to kids and provide concrete ways of preventing specific injuries. Child Safe is the most complete, organized, and parent-friendly child-safety book ever written for the general public. It addresses the most pressing safety issues from birth to age 14, issues that change dramatically as a child grows up. This invaluable guide for parents, grandparents, teachers, childcare workers, and baby-sitters has the information to prevent millions of childhood injuries. Dr. Mark Brandenburg, with his years of experience, shows how to keep your "child safe."

This book was released on 2016-11-21 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decades of research have demonstrated that the parent-child dyad and the environment of the familyâ€"which includes all primary caregiversâ€"are at the foundation of children's well- being and healthy development. From birth, children are learning and rely on parents and the other caregivers in their lives to protect and care for them. The impact of parents may never be greater than during the earliest years of life, when a child's brain is rapidly developing and when nearly all of her or his experiences are created and shaped by parents and the family environment. Parents help children build and refine their knowledge and skills, charting a trajectory for their health and well-being during childhood and beyond. The experience of parenting also impacts parents themselves. For instance, parenting can enrich and give focus to parents' lives; generate stress or calm; and create any number of emotions, including feelings of happiness, sadness, fulfillment, and anger. Parenting of young children today takes place in the context of significant ongoing developments. These include: a rapidly growing body of science on early childhood, increases in funding for programs and services for families, changing demographics of the U.S. population, and greater diversity of family structure. Additionally, parenting is increasingly being shaped by technology and increased access to information about parenting. Parenting Matters identifies parenting knowledge, attitudes, and practices associated with positive developmental outcomes in children ages 0-8; universal/preventive and targeted strategies used in a variety of settings that have been effective with parents of young children and that support the identified knowledge, attitudes, and practices; and barriers to and facilitators for parents' use of practices that lead to healthy child outcomes as well as their participation in effective programs and services. This report makes recommendations directed at an array of stakeholders, for promoting the wide-scale adoption of effective programs and services for parents and on areas that warrant further research to inform policy and practice. It is meant to serve as a roadmap for the future of parenting policy, research, and practice in the United States.
